I am a college student so beware, I'm not going to update regularly.

I am also going to be following the story pretty closely with a bit of my head cannon in there. (At least until season 5)

I do not own Shokugeki no Soma

Soma got dropped off in front of the school. He walked as two students were outside the main gate crying. Soma looked to his left; the father was begging a guard for his sons. The father was trying to bribe the guards to let his sons stay. There were two guards by the main entrance. He wasn't sure where Erina was. Scratch that he wasn't sure where he was. This place was huge. He wished he had taken the map when Erina offered it. He recognized one building out of the whole place, so he went there and asked where he was supposed to be. They asked him a lot of questions and sent him on his way. He was supposed to be at the largest hall in the biggest building. He walked until he reached the largest building in the school.

Soma stepped inside and heard yelling come from the largest hall. He walked up to where the noise was coming from, and low and behold it was Erina. She was giving a mouthful to someone. That student looked as though he might keel over and die from a heart attack at any second. Soma chuckled a bit as he was usually on the receiving end of her angry spouts. Erina's eyes floated over to him and softened a little, but she didn't let the rest of her body soften as she tore into this poor guy. Once she was done, the guy turned tail and ran as tears streamed down his face. Soma stood by the entranceway as Erina walked back into the center of the room. She was picking something from a buffet table. Finally, she picked out an egg.

"Anyone that can make me say their dish was tasty using an egg," she continued. "Gets to pass the entrance exam." Nobody moved for a second, and then all hell broke loose as everyone made a beeline for the exit. Many of them were throwing up or crying as they left. "Hisako, what else do we have on our schedule this evening?"

"Just the elite ten meeting at 8 tomorrow," this pink-haired girl said in response.

"Then I'm going to make some dishes," Erina said. The pink-haired girl salivated at the thought of Erina's cooking. "Oh, how rude of me. Hisako, would you also like to try some?" The pink-haired girl salvated even more as she nodded her head.

"So all I need to do is make you say my dish is tasty, right?" Soma said, oblivious to the atmosphere. They both turned to see him. The pink-haired girl was surprised by his audacity, whereas Erina was glad to see her boyfriend. "Where's the kitchen?" Erina signaled to him to follow her, which he would gladly do. "It doesn't matter what the dish is as long as I use an egg, right?" She nodded. "Ok, Erina, get ready," He said as he put his headband on.

"How dare you call my lady by her first name!" The pink-haired girl exclaimed. "Do you realize who she is? Do you even know what her job is?" Erina stopped her with a warning glare.

"Does she not know about-" Soma started.

"No, she doesn't," Erina said. "I didn't get to tell her since somebody was late."

"Yeah, sorry about that, but in my defense, your school is huge," Soma said casually. "She is my girlfriend."

"I'm not your girlfriend," Erina started. "You are my boyfriend." The pink-haired girl gaped. She couldn't comprehend Erina having a boyfriend.

"Name's Yukihira Soma," Soma stated. "Do you want to try some too, Ms.?"

"Hisako Arato," she said. "Yes, please."

"Alright," Soma said as he looked at Erina. "So I'm your boyfriend, will you be introducing me that way to all your friends?" Erina's face had a slight blush on them.

"W-well yes, if they ask," she said. "But only if they ask."

"You are too cute, Erina," Soma said as he finished the prep work. He cut up some spring onions as he boiled something behind him.

"What are you making?" Erina asked. He smirked as he brought out the broth and waited until it cooled enough to become gelatin.

"Oh, I'm at this step, and you still can't guess what I'm making?" Soma said half teasing and half serious. Once the broth had become gelatin, he cut it into little cubes. Erina crossed her arms and pouted. "Furikake Rice." Erina looked intrigued by this idea, and Hisako looked dumbfounded.

"You think furikake rice will be good enough for the God Tongue?" Hisako yelled. "Do you know how-" Then she smelled it, and Hisako shut her mouth as Soma poured his creation over the rice. The gelatine melted into the rice. Erina tried tasting it, and she was in heaven. After the first bite, she devoured the whole thing without a breath. Hisako was amazed by how fast she consumed it all. Hisako looked at Soma in amazement as she grabbed her bowl to try it. Hisako's tongue touched one of the little rice grains and immediately she knew this was better than any dish she could create right now; before she knew it they were all gone.

"That was very good, Soma," Erina said. "You're a bit closer to your dad. How did you like it, Hisako?"

"That was truly amazing," she continued. "Way beyond my current capabilities."

"Really?" Soma asked. "I bet you would do great, actually I was gonna get to do some food experiments later if you want to join me."

"Yes please, I would love-" Hisako got cut off.

"Hey, I'm still here," Erina said as she blushed. "I'm joining you too." He kissed Erina on the cheek.

"You're too cute, Erina," Soma said. "So, did I pass?" Hisako's and Erina's faces went red as a tomato. Erina's hand went to her cheek.

"I-I, yes, you passed," Erina said. "I'll see you during the entrance ceremony." He waved goodbye as she still had her hand on her cheek.

"So… so you guys are cl-closer than I thought," Hisoka yelled while she tried not to look at her eyes. Erina was still frozen in time. "I guess we should leave now." Erina nodded as her heart was beating faster and faster. She allowed herself to be pulled along. Hisako brought her to her room. "How did I not know you were in a relationship?"

"It's relatively new," Erina said. "But I was going to tell you."

"It's fine," Hisako said. "But why have I never heard of him before?"

"Actually, you have; I just never said a name," Erina said. It was all beginning to click with Hisako. Her eyes became wide as she realized that all the stories she had heard from Erina had been about him.

"Erina, if all the stories I've heard from you are about Soma, why has it taken so long for me to meet him?" Hisako prodded to see what she could reveal.

"I guess I wanted his full attention," Erina whispered.

"He was right, you are too cute, Erina," Hisako said. "We better get going to the entrance ceremony." Erina nodded as she wore her chef outfit and walked to the big outdoor stadium.

Maybe he did have a point about this place being too big. Erina thought as she walked.

"Hello all, and thank you for coming," a student said. "Someone named Yukihira Soma is supposed to say something, but before that, congrats on making it in. However, now the real challenge begins. Good luck," she said as she handed the microphone to Soma.

"I'm not sure what to say," Soma continued. "I'm planning on taking the top spot, and I'm planning on using Totsuki as a stepping stone, so all of you better watch out." Soma left it at that and left the stage. There was a huge uproar of students' disapproving comments. Meanwhile, Erina facepalmed, the most powerful culinary school, reduced to nothing more than a stepping stone. Hisako's mouth was agape as he finished talking.

"That idiot put a target on his back," Erina said, frustrated. "It's not even his first day, and he has already made many enemies." She shook her head as she got up and texted him. She got Hisako to come with her.

Soma went down to where Erina and Hisako were. "Yo, what's up, Nakiri." She looked at him with a look he couldn't quite pinpoint.

"Are you trying to get expelled on your first day?" Erina started. "Do you realize that you painted a target on your back?"

"Kind of the point, Erina," Soma said. "If I can't prove I'm the best here, how in the world am I supposed to walk by your side?" Erina was caught off guard by what he said. She tried to keep a smile off of her face. She forgot how endearing he could be.

"Still you shouldn't have said that," Erina was fighting a blush. "On a different note, I was wondering if you wanted to come to my house later tonight?"

"One, Erina, that is a mansion, not a house," Soma said. "Second, I would love to come." Her face lit up.

"OK, be there by 8."

"Also, where is umm," Soma grabbed a piece of paper from his pocket. "Polar Star?" Erina pointed it out on a map.

Afterward, Soma went to where Erina directed. He noticed it was a bit farther than most other dorms, but he had heard about this place from his dad that Polar Star was the place for the truly best chefs. Then, Soma saw it. The picture in his head did not match what he saw. The walls looked old and dirty. The vines got so out of control that they were all over the building. Soma sighed; what else was he expecting when his father told him to come here? He went over to the front gate and unlocked it. "Make sure you lock it!" Someone yelled. He locked it and then turned around. There was this old woman there. "My name is Fumio. Nice to meet you, Soma." He returned the pleasantries. "Come on, we've been waiting for you." He followed Fumio around the garden. "Isshiki, come over here for a second." Someone who was wearing nothing but an apron approached them.

"You must be Soma," he said. "I'm Isshiki. I guess I'm your senpai."

"It's great to meet you Isshiki-senpai," Soma continued. "Quick question; why aren't you wearing anything?"

"I am. I'm wearing an apron?" He was confused by this question.

"I mean anything under it."

"Oh, well, never mind that, come meet the rest of the Polar Star recruits," Isshiki said. Soma wanted to question him more, but he decided not to. Isshiki walked in as Soma was on his heels. "Now then, these are your dorm mates. Over there is Shoji Sato; right next to him is Daigo Aoki; a bit farther away is Shun Ibusaki and Zenji Marui; in that little group, there is Ryoko Sakaki, Yuki Yoshino, and Megumi Todoroki." Soma waved to all of them, but they were not pleased with him.

"What's wrong with everyone?" Soma asked.

"They're mad at what you said," Isshiki said. Soma got a look in his eyes.

"Anyone who can beat me in a cooking competition or a Shokugeki I'll apologize to," Soma said. They all lined up except for Todoroki. "I'll take you on two at a time." This lit a fire under them. "Isshiki-senpai, could you pick the foods we'll be battling with?" Isshiki nodded. He went to grab the prize wheel that they used. It had stuff written on it. He spun it, and it landed on the fish.

Soma got ready as both Shoji and Daigo clapped each others' hands. A little while later, they both put their dishes on the edge of the counter. Shoji and Daigo's dish looked really good, it was a buttered whitefish with deep-fried fish, and some vegetable fritters. Meanwhile, Soma's dish did not look that spectacular, and it was a mackerel burger with some egg soup and white rice; however, it was the smell that drew many members in. They tried the whitefish first, and the good taste and how well everything paired with each other gave them two bites, and then they tried the burger. They didn't have a lot to pair with each other, so they tried it; as soon as the burger touched their lips, they were looking for more. They inhaled the dish faster than a good vacuum cleans up crumbs. Fumio voted for Soma, Isshiki, and Megumi followed suit.

"Do you guys mind if I try some?" Soma asked. They both shook their heads. He ate a little piece. As he was eating that piece, he noticed something. "You guys should add a bit of honey to the fried shrimp. The sweetness of the honey will add a depth of flavor to the whitefish."

"Thanks for the tip," Daigo said, confused. Soma smiled.

"Ok, who is next?" Soma asked. "This is fun, so don't be shy." The whole group realized that when he said what he said, he meant it. It was hard to grasp, but this kid came here with an objective in mind.

"We don't really stand a chance, and we are just at Daigo and Shoji's level," Yuki said. "We're all beginning to realize that what you said wasn't just talk; you can back it up." The rest agreed with her. "Also, why are you helping us?"

"I want you guys to get better," Soma said. "So, I have more competition. I find it fun." The whole group relaxed as he said this, realizing he was not a dick and instead just someone who was confident. They decided to throw a party and hopefully become friends with him.

Erina was pacing a hole through the floor. Hisako was a little worried as she watched her pick out an outfit, look at it, and throw the dress to the side. This is her twentieth dress, and she threw it on the floor. Erina sighed, she wanted tonight to be perfect. "Erina," Hisako said. "Why are you freaking out so much? You have made the chef make enough food for a small town, and you keep throwing your dresses on the floor. What's wrong?"

"Nothing, it's just…" Erina started. "I want everything to be perfect. Soma has yet to meet my Auntie Lenora and Uncle Soe, and although he has met Grandfather already, he has yet to meet him as my boyfriend. I'm just a ball of nerves right now."

"Erina, relax," Hisako began. "Your Grandfather already approves of him, and he spoke highly of him to your Auntie and Uncle. Also, do you want me to help you pick a dress?" Erina nodded.

Hisako was astounded by Erina acting like a normal girl. Usually, she would either, act high and mighty or go to her room and lock the door. Hisako and Erina were both looking through dresses when they heard a knock come from Erina's door. Alice pops her head in to see what they are doing. She was unprepared for the mess that awaited her. "It looks like a tornado ran through here," Alice said. There were pillows across the room, the bed was remade again and again, the dresses were in a pile on the floor, and her desk was a mess. "We have maids for a reason you know?"

"Erina is a little nervous about you guys meeting Soma," Hisako said.

"Hisako!" Erina yelled. "Don't give her more ammunition to tease me." Then she turns to her cousin. "Please don't tease me while he's here, I don't need two sides ganging up on me tonight."

"You are super nervous," Alice teased. "You are adorable like this. Maybe this Soma is a good influence for you. At least he is for your cuteness." Erina pouted.

"I just explained to you that I didn't want to be teased today," Erina said.

"I won't tease you when your man eventually comes," Alice said with a smirk.

"That is probably the best I'm going to get," Erina sighed. "Do you mind giving me advice about my dresses?" Alice nodded as she sat down on Erina's bed. First, she tried on a sleeveless tea-length dress that hugged her figure well, but the chest area wasn't big enough so it was hard for her to breathe, and considering she wouldn't be able to already it was a bad combination. Next, she put on a mermaid dress.

"You want my parents to like him, right?" Alice asked. Erina nodded. "Then, don't wear that dress, he won't be able to keep his eyes off you."

"I agree," Hisako said. "Considering, he already can't, he'll be reduced to a blushing idiot." Erina agreed, plus it showed too much skin for her liking. Last, she tried on a sundress with a modest neckline and was not overly formal.

"I think we have a winner," Erina said.

"That looks really good, Erina," Alice chimed in. Hisako agreed.

"What time is it?" Erina asked.

"Nearly seven," Hisako answered. Erina nodded as she had butterflies in her stomach. She grabbed Hisako's hand and led her to the kitchen. Erina tasted some of the Foie Gras and Escargot. She was happy with the taste although; knowing Soma, she had a grilled cheese and a burger ready for him.

"So, Soma, are you dating someone?" Yuki asked.

"Yes, I am," he said.

"Ooh, who is it?" Ryoko asked. "Anyone we would know?"

"I would hope so-" Soma got cut off.

"Hey, Soma, it's 7:45, just so you know," Isshiki said.

"Thanks, Isshiki-senpai, I got to go," Soma said.

"Where are you going?" Yuki asked.

"To my girlfriend's mansion," Soma said matter-of-factly.

"Who is your girlfriend?" Ryoko said as he started putting on his shoes. He grabbed the door handle.

"Erina," he said as he left, leaving everyone but Isshiki slack-jawed.

"Huh?" They all said. "Eh. HUH?"

Soma went to where her mansion was. He was five minutes late and sweating bullets. He rang the doorbell as he was out of breath. The door opened, and Erina was on the opposite side with a glistening in her eyes. "Erina, you look absolutely gorgeous," Soma said as he walked in. She blushed a little at the compliment and latched on to his arm.

"Not so bad yourself, Soma," she said. "You're five minutes late!"

"I'm sorry," Soma started. "I ran all the way here from Polar Star."

"Why didn't you text me?" Erina said. "I would have sent someone over."

"I didn't want you to have to worry," his eyes told her he was telling the truth.

"Still, text me next time," Erina began. "Come on the table is set." She dragged him along. He was impressed by the mansion he always had. It always seemed to get bigger. They finally made it to the dining room, where everyone was waiting. He had a knot in his stomach. "Everyone, this is Soma Yukihira, my boyfriend," she blushed as she said the last part. They greeted him as Erina let go of his arm and sat down.

"So, did he comment on how cute that dress makes you look?" Alice asked.

"He d…did," Erina turned around as she answered. Erina looked away in embarrassment. Soma sat right next to her, answering all of their questions.

"So Soma, why Erina?" Soe said. Erina stood up while a heavy blush took over her face.

"Uncle! Why would you-" she got cut off.

"Because she is my best friend," Soma said casually. "And I can't picture a future without her. But I do realize we are a long way away from it." Erina was more than a little bit happy with the statement. Soe was intrigued by the young man's answer.

"If you realize that," Soe asked. "Why do any of this right now?"

"Because I want to learn more about her, not just as a friend, but by her side all the time," he retorted. Erina sat back down in her chair too embarrassed to say anything but really happy.

"Finally, why-" Soe got cut off.

"That's enough, dear," Leonora said. "Erina might melt if you ask him one more question." Soe looked over to see his niece as red as a tomato. "Anyway, Soma, could you meet me after dinner is done?" Leonora asked. Soma nodded his head. Soma told them all the stories about the diner. They were all laughing, having a good time, and for the first time in a while, Erina felt at home. He was good with people she knew, however, she didn't realize that he could adapt to his situation. Erina was in awe of him.

"You're staring," Alice teased.

"I am not," Erina started. "Also, where's Ryo?"

"He should be back tomorrow," Alice said with a hint of excitement. "But this isn't about me: this is about you, or more accurately about him, and he is incredible."

"I know," Erina smiled.

"You look happy, Milady," Hisako said. Erina looked at her and nodded.

The food came out, and Erina was excited for Soma to try some of the gourmet food. "Which fork should I use?" Soma whispered.

"Start outside and go in," Erina said. Soma nodded and grabbed the fork she motioned to. He tried it and was immediately thrust into a pool of slime and stickiness, he couldn't move as the stickiness had him stuck. He was getting heat thrown at him as snails threw fire at him.

"How is it?" Erina whispered.

"Interesting," Soma began. "The texture is very slimy, the taste was strange, but it isn't bad, especially with the little bit of heat in this." She liked how in-depth he got. Finally, Senzaemon came downstairs. "Hey, Gramps."

"Ahh, Young Soma," Senzaemon said. "I hope everything is going well."

"Yep," Soma said. "How are you? I haven't seen you recently."

"I have been busy running Totsuki and watching Erina and Alice," he retorted. Soma got up and stuck his hand out.

"It's good to see you," Soma said.

"You as well, young Soma," Senzaemon said as he took the young man's hand. "So, Erina tells me you two are dating now?"

"Something along those lines," he said as he sat back down. "I'm surprised Erina would bring that up in the first place."

"She was really excited that you were coming to Totsuki," Senzaemon explained. Soma got a mischievous grin and decided to play with his girlfriend.

"Erina, I'm sorry, but how excited were you that I was coming?" Soma teased. His girlfriend's face got all red. She turned her face and crossed her arms. Soma knew he had made his girlfriend slightly upset, so he decided to make it up to her. He gave her his hand, and she happily accepted. They all spent the rest of the night chatting and laughing. After, dinner he went to go find Leonora. He found her in the garden, looking at this beautiful rose. "Mrs. Nakiri, you wanted to see me?" he asked knowing she wanted him to come and find her.

"Soma, Leonora is just fine," she said. "Come on a walk with me."

Erina went up to her room after dinner. She had way too much excitement for one day, but she couldn't help feeling elated because her family seemed to approve of Soma. Erina sent Hisako back to her room so she could be alone with her thoughts. Erina was the absolute gem of this generation, but now she would have competition. She was so excited about school the next day that she nearly forgot about brushing her hair. Erina thought back about Soma's answers to some of the questions her uncle had asked him. Her face went red as she thought about this harder. Knock! Knock! "Come in," she said. It was Alice, and she closed the door behind her.

"Hey," Alice said. "How do you feel?"

"Most of all, happy," Erina started. "I'm glad you guys got to meet Soma. I'm glad he got to meet all of you."

"Good," Alice said.

"So what did you think?" Erina asked with genuine curiosity.

"Honestly, he's a perfect fit for you," Alice said. Erina's eyes sparkled at that. "You should probably go to sleep, g'night."

"Night, Alice," Erina said as she got ready for bed.
