May hid her nose in her elbow as she sneezed. It had gotten a lot colder, and May surely had noticed. Winter had arrived, and that was relatively clear to her now. So much that it had snowed the previous weekend. Now May was on her way to school, often bothered by headaches and coughing.

However she felt good enough to go to school, so she decided to go anyway. Now she childishly kicked her feet whilst looking out the trains windows, observing the rests of snow and ice that had been scattered around. May was a big fan of winter— sure, it was cold, but especially during days that it would snow May would feel like herself.

Once the train had stopped, May confidently marched over to the school building, ready to face a new day. With her backpack over her shoulder she shuffled through the rests of snow, once in a while shivering as cold wind brushed past her forehead. It was really cold now, so much she was excited to head inside.

May breathed in relief once she entered the building and warm air filled her lungs. The warm feeling that entered her body after stepping from the cold into warmth felt amazing; another reason why she could only learn to appreciate winter. Shaking some snow off of her boots she took them off and marched over to her locker, ready to put them in.

Her mom had specifically bought these boots for during snowy days, however she hadn't assumed that they would be coming so soon. Stifling a giggle, May opened her locker to put her boots in, but paused when she saw papers in it. Then she remembered — the schools new papers. Curious, May picked up the papers and started reading. It said in big bold letters:

THE WINTER PROM!
WILL YOU BE ATTENDING?
next friday the yearly winter prom will be held. all students are invited, so don't forget to bring your classmates along! there will be awesome music, lights and snacks! make sure to come and have a great time!

May frowned. A prom? No way! They never held those kind of events back at her school; she finally could experience a prom now! Excited, she hopped up and down. This school really was the best. Grinning, the shoved her boots & school papers back into her locker. 'May!' two voice shouted.

In a whim May had turned around to the direction where the voices were coming from
— it were Dawn and Brianna, happily running their way. 'Here you are!' Brianna giggled. 'I thought you wouldn't come,' she admitted shyly, and Dawn nodded in agreement. 'Yeah! You're late, what happened?'

May sighed. 'Due to the snow the train had a ten minute delay.. I'm here now though, what's up?' May grinned. 'Not much, just the usual, y'know, getting ready for class.' Brianna answered, quickly checking her backpack. 'Yeah. I am not excited for any classes today,' Dawn sighed. 'Anyway—'

'O-M-G! I forgot to ask you, May, are you going to the winter prom?' Brianna questioned after looking back up at May. 'Duh, of course I am! My old school never held any proms, of course I'm going to take this chance!' May chirped. 'Okay, awesome! The both of us are going, too!' Dawn chimed in, happily nodding towards May. 'You know what?' May began.

'Let's go shopping for dresses this week Y'know, head to the mall together!' May suggested, and Brianna and Dawns faces immediately lit up with excitement. 'All right, deal! I'll have to check my agenda though,' Dawn retorted, placing her hands on her waist. 'Yes, but I don't think we have to worry; we've got plenty of time, you know? The proms only gonna be next week.' May snickered.

'I guess you've got a point there!' Brianna agreed. 'I'll just text you guys when I'm available once I've checked my plans for the upcoming week, all right?' She whistled in excitement. 'Okay, good idea! That's how we'll do it then!' May grinned.

May coughed again. Yep, she had definitely caught a cold. Was it because she had stubbornly marched around outside in thin clothes the previous day? Maybe. Sighing to herself, May tapped her table with her pen. 'Are you OK? You're coughing the entire time,'
Misty, her friend, said.

May snickered. 'Yeah, I'm just fine. Don't worry. Just.. caught a cold.' May huffed to herself. 'For real, me too! This cold weather has had me sneezing literally non stop, it's so annoying!' Misty groaned. 'But really! I even had a spitting headache this morning.'

Misty blinked at her. 'A headache? That sounds like you're sick, especially because you're coughing so much.' Misty told her. May however dismissively shook her head. 'No, that's not it, I did a temperature test earlier this morning and I'm just fine.' May protested. 'Ah, must be a bad cold then..' Misty grinned shyly.

'Yeah.' May sighed, tilting her head to the left. 'Anyway, uhm.. are you going to the winter prom next week, Misty?' May asked, curiously looking back at her orange haired friend. She nodded. 'Of course I'm going! Winter proms are always fun, I've always attended them ever since I've joined this school.' Misty answered.

'Cool! I hope I'll see you around then,' May grinned. 'Bri, Dawn and I are going to the shops to get dresses, would you maybe be interested in coming along?' May asked, and Misty perked up. 'Oh, that's really nice of you, but I've already bought a dress for myself!' Misty replied. 'Ah, OK!'

DREW HAYDEN'S POV

'Anyway, uhm.. are you going to the winter prom next week, Misty?'

'Of course I'm going! Winter proms are always fun, I've always attended them ever since I've joined this school.'

'Cool! I hope I'll see you around then! Bri, Dawn and I are going to the shops to get dresses, would you maybe be interested in coming along?'

'Oh, that's really nice of you, but I've already bought a dress for myself!'

'Ah, OK!'

Drew looked back into his notebook. She was going to the winter prom? An odd feeling crept into his stomach as he looked back up. No, he wasn't going. If word got out that he would, he would have millions of girls chasing after him asking if he'd be their partner. No way he would have to endure that again.

May slid her books into her bag; class was over and now they finally had break! Excited, she closed her bag and swing it over her shoulder. In the corner of her eyes she could see Drew trying to escape the classroom, but was instead surrounded by girls. May giggled to herself, watching the scene go down.

'Drew! How did class go?'

'Hey, how about we eat together?'

'How are you, Drew?'

Many questions followed. Normally Drew managed to keep his cool around his fangirls, if anything he always appeared happy, but this time he looked visibly irritated and worn out. 'Eh, you girls.. I'm gonna eat alone this time, how about next time?' He exclaimed dryly.

May stood up and marched over to the group. 'Hey you girls, you're blocking the entrance of the door ... would you mind stepping aside so we're all able to leave?' May requested in a friendly manner, and the girls most immediately looked back at her.

'Ah, you're right!' One of the girls stammered. 'Well, since Drew is eating alone we might as well just head to the cafeteria now and get something to eat!' And right there, right then, the girls had made their way to leave. May smiled at Drew before making her way downstairs to the cafeteria.

May happily hummed to herself as she scrolled through images on her phone. Except she was suddenly startled when the sound of shrieking ran throughout the halls. Alarmed, May pulled herself up and looked around the corner. And like she had (sort of) expected, it were fangirls of Drew, once again following him.

Drew was running this way, and he looked visibly panicked. May couldn't help but feel a little sympathy for the guy, so when he ran past she grabbed his arm and tugged him to her side, into the smaller alley. Hiding him behind one of the lockers, she threatened him under her breath to stay quiet. As if nothing happened, May let herself fall back into the wall and looked at her phone.

As soon as the girls were gone May turned back around towards Drew. 'You were being followed again, huh?' May huffed. 'That sure does happen to you a lot.' She chirped, shoving her phone into her bag. 'It sure does...' Drew groaned. 'Anyway, May, thanks for that. I thought i'd never be able to escape those girls.'

May grinned at him. 'Hey, no problem! It looked like you could get a break from them,' May jested, getting down on her knees to grab a few books out of her bag. Drew just sighed. 'Erm, what're you doing with those books?' He commented, curiously towering above May who was inspecting her books.

'I forgot to take these books out of my bag..' May shyly admitted. 'I don't need them today, so I'm going to put them back in my locker.' May noted. 'See ya!' May yowled, but got stopped as Drew grabbed her arm. 'Wait! I take it that you won't mind if I walk along with you? I also.. uhm.. have to put stuff back into my locker.' May looked at him confused before answering. 'Sure? I don't mind.' She nodded happily at him, as they they walked over to Drew's locker first.

Drew flinched when he heard familiar screaming rung through the hallways. 'Where's Drew? I'm sure he's around here!' Panicked, Drew pushed May into his tall locker and proceeded to head inside as well before angrily shutting the lockers door. 'D-Drew?' May stuttered before him.

Drew felt his heartbeat fasten once he had turned his head back to May; only
for him to realize he had straight up pinned May to the side of the locker. His cheeks flashed a bright red before he started muttering an incoherent sentence. 'I— I'm sorry.' He whispered. 'Didn't want to be seen.'

May only looked more flustered. Drew's body leaned against hers, any space excluded. May shyly gazed into Drew's eyes, as he looked back, his cheeks red. 'Ah.. I'm so sorry about this,' he apologized, his front bangs shielding his eyes and red cheeks. 'I-It's all right..' May blushed. 'We'll be out of here in no time..'

'We will.' Drew assured. Though he had never experienced such close contact with anyone before, he couldn't deny that he didn't hate it. Drew felt his heart beating faster and faster as Mays scent filled his lungs and her warm skin brushed against his. This feeling he felt was indescribable, it was something he hadn't ever felt before; it made him feel dizzy.

May however was experiencing the exact same feeling. Her stomach felt weird, Drew's rose scent filled her lungs and his hair tickled her face. 'Euhm...' May whispered. 'So...' May whispered. 'A-Are you going to the winter prom this year?' May questioned.

Drew felt his heart heavy in his chest as he searched for an answer. He didn't want for any girls to chase him around asking to be his partner to the prom, though he did want to experience it himself... Drew swallowed. 'Yes, I am.' He answered quickly, his heart heavily pounding in his chest. 'Y-You will? Oh, cool..' May whispered.

Drew leaned in. '...Be my partner for the prom, May.' He answered, his lips almost touching hers. 'M-Me?' She stuttered. She felt excitement and anxiety enter her chest as she breathed in and out. He's close.. so close... 'Okay... I will..' She murmured, as Drew backed away. 'Okay... thank you..' He whispered back, his cheeks a bright scarlet.

'Why... why'd you want me to be your partner, Drew? There's plenty of girls out there who admire you and would love to go with you..' May anxiously asked. 'So why me?'

Drew swallowed. 'I... don't want to go with any of those girls. They'll all chase me and ask me to go with them.. though I do want to experience the prom, y'know. I've never experienced it due to the amount of girls that want to be my partner.. they'll— they'll only be hanging all over me the entire night if I accepted.' May gazed up at him. 'O-Okay.' She answered.

'..A-Are the girls gone now?' May whispered, breaking Drew out of his daydreams. 'Uhm.. I think they are.' Drew replied dryly, opening the locker and hesitantly stepping out, immediately looked around him. 'Ah, I'm safe...' He whispered to himself. I'm no longer leaning against her.. that undeniable urge is finally gone..

May then also stepped out, her cheeks still red. 'Well then, uhm.. I'll be heading back to my own locker. S-See you!' May spluttered, grabbing her backpack and immediately running to the staircase, not bothering to wait for a response of Drew. Still in shock, Drew slapped his hand against his forehead. he was going to the prom. he had asked may to be his partner to the prom...
