May happily marched her way over to her school building. Today was a friday, a nice day to finish off the rough week she had. Surprisingly the weather that day had been good, only making her happy mood even better.
Nothing could go wrong! With her teeth clenched into a wide grin, she walked over to her locker and proceeded to open her locker. Her eyes widened when she saw the note in her locker. Frowning, she opened the note. She read:
Hey, June! I just wanted to let you know that I scored highest on our test, so you lost the bet again! Y'know what that means? You're paying for my lunch food in the cafeteria today! Thanks! Unless you're too embarrassed to show up! ;)
Anger seeped into Mays stomach. She lost the bet. Again!? Drew's teasing never really quit, although he acted a lot nicer than he did before. Over time they had held a lot of little bets, May especially hoping that, sometime, she'd manage to win one. But, unfortunately with Drew, that wasn't the case.
Now she had to pay for his lunch food! She'd lose her money to Drew, and most importantly, he'd enjoy just that! May groaned loudly to herself, softly bonking her head into the locker. How had he even managed to get the note in her locker? Honestly, May wished she could be the one to tease Drew for once.
...
...
..
WAIT!
That was it! She had to be the one to tease Drew for once! May knew that, even though Drew acted cool and collected most of the time, Drew could be caught off guard and flustered fast, as well. Her mouth cracked into a large grin. 'Wrhahahah! He'll regret this!' May giggled.
'Who will regret what?' May's eyes widened upon hearing a familiar voice. Alarmed, she turned around. To her surprise it was Solidad, awkwardly staring into her eyes. 'May, what are you planning this time?' She grimaced, looking at her with empathy. 'A lot,' May answered. 'A lot! Would you look at this,' May said, slamming the note into Solidads hands.
Solidad cocked her head, as she opened the note and began to read it. After a minute passed by the broke into a soft laugh. 'Oh, you lost a bet again? This is like the tenth time, have you not learned your lesson?' Solidad giggled into the note. 'Yes! I have! Except, this time, I'm gonna turn the tables!' She said, clenching her fists in an exciting manner.
'Oh?' Solidad said in surprise. 'Turn the tables? How?' She said, playfully furrowing her eyebrows at the proud brunette. 'This time I'll be the one teasing and making fun of him! And I already have an idea of where to start,' She grinned, grabbing the note again and looking at it. Yes, he will regret making her pay for his food!
Solidad smiled. 'Heh. I'm sure that'll do him some good,' Solidad said, crossing her arms. May frowned in surprise. 'Do him some good? How?' May asked, looking back at her pink haired friend. 'He always teases. I think this could make him learn his lesson,' she giggled. 'Maybe this'll soften him up a little. And just maybe it'll bring you closer.' She winked.
May went red in the face. 'What? You're implying for us to get even closer?' She spluttered in embarassment. Solidad giggled again. 'Come on, May. You know better than me that you want to get closer to him.' She hummed to herself, crossing her arms. May let her head sink. 'I guess you're right..' she huffed. 'But then again..' Solidad murmured.
'But then again what?' May furrowed her eyebrows. 'Drew can be a little stubborn.' She grinned. 'But if this turning the tables thing is as effective as you're implying as it'll be.. maybe it'll work.' She said, placing her hand on her waist. Turning around, she looked behind her shoulder. 'Good luck!' May blinked. 'Oh, right! Bye, Solidad! Good luck in class!' she yowled.
Looking back at the note, May felt excitement running through her body. Yes, she'd totally teach him a lesson! One he'll never ever forget, and one that will make him prevent from teasing her once ever again! Clenching her fists, she happily marched over to her next class.
Drew was standing in front of her, smirking. Hands in his pockets, and his eyes glaring right into hers, May knew the actual war hadn't even begun. 'So, May. I hope you've got some money with you?' He asked, his eyes halfclosed in amusement. May frowned. 'I do,' she huffed.
'Lets head on over to the cafeteria then, princess,' he grinned, pulling his hands out of his pockets. May clicked her tongue. 'Fine,' she said, trying to act as annoyed as possible, before grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the place where they sold the food.
Once the two were allowed to give out their order May immediately hung over the counter. 'You know what I want, right?' Drew asked. May narrowed her eyes. 'Of course I do, you jerk!' she said, before turning back around. 'I want that, please.' May said, pointing at a food that was placed behind a nice amount of decorated bread and donuts. The cafeteria worker smiled brightly before grabbing the order.
Drew, who was standing behind May, was whistling in boredom, though he was partly enjoying the fact she was wasting her money. A minute struck by and May turned around with the order in her hands. Drew, who was looking at her, looked at the food in surprise. 'What the..'
'May, why'd you get me a sandwich with pickles? You know I don't like those,' He spat, his eyes narrowing at her accusingly. May grinned. 'What? Ooh, so sorry mister! Sadly, this was the only money I had left!' She whined fakely, clasping her hands together. 'Please, just eat it!' She said, her eyes pleading.
Drew paused, with disgust in his eyes and his cheeks a light red tone. 'Oh, don't tell me that you're being ungrateful!' May accused him, sassily pointing her finger his way. 'Is a pickle sandwich that big of a problem?' She jested. 'Or do you want everyone to know that you're miserable and refuse to eat a pickle sandwich?' She laughed.
Drew looked at her in confusion, his eyes reflecting a slight irritation. 'Eh.. uh..' Drew breathed. 'I spent my money for you, mr Hayden,' May whispered, leaning in. 'Do you want to upset me and the very sweet cafeteria worker that worked so hard to get this sandwich ready for you?'
Drew blushed. He blushed a deep red, which by May didn't go unnoticed. 'Hah! If you don't want it i'll have it myself, but you can forget having food for free,' she shrugged, turning around and trotting off. 'Hey! Don't turn your back on me!' Drew yelled out, though his voice was shaking.
'Ouch,' a voice said. Drew turned his head around. And there was Solidad with her hands on her waist. 'Solidad? Don't tell me you saw that happen..' he sighed to himself, his cheeks red. 'I did. You'd have to admit declining that sandwich was quite impolite.. even if you don't like it.' Solidad smiled to herself, letting her eyes flutter shut.
Drew narrowed his eyes. 'She was making fun of me though,' Drew commented dryly. 'But aren't you always making fun of her, too?' Solidad said rightfully, looking back at her greenhaired friend. 'If anything, I think this for a change is fair.' She giggled. 'Oh, so you think this is absolutely hilarious, don't you?' Drew groaned. 'Well.. it is amusing.' She giggled. 'You're hopeless.' Drew admitted.
May grinned, looking down at the table. She started scribbling around, intending to make a very bad drawing of a very annoying person. She had thought this out, and in order to make this work she had to get to the class even earlier, as she was aware a certain person was always in class early.
'Hah! He'll totally regret this,' May whispered under her breath, smirking widely. Pulling herself up she swung her backpack over her shoulder and trotted to her seat, as she then sat down. Curious, from the corner of the classroom she observed students passing by.
And like she had expected, Drew then walked in. He appeared nonchalant, almost tired, as he turned his head and marched over to his seat. His eyes however widened in surprise upon seeing the terrible drawing scribbled on his table.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Drew couldn't believe his eyes. What was this? Inspecting the scribble on his table, he soon enough was able to discover that poor drawing was supposed to resemble him. Narrowing his eyes, he already thought who would've done such a thing.
Turning around, he looked right at May's seat. And like he expected, May was sitting there, grinning childishly at him. She then winked, making Drew's heart hammer in his chest. 'I'm getting a de ja vu..' Drew whispered to himself, his cheeks red.
'She's trying to get back at me, isn't she?' he thought, now being sure that he'd have to handle May and her childish acts for the rest for the day. Or who knows, for the rest of the week, or the rest of the month. Or the rest of the year? He bit his lip, turning back around, looking down at his scribbled table.
Sighing, Drew crossed his arms and lightly leaned forward on his table, aware that May was still watching him with amusement in her eyes. Yeah, he kind of understood how May felt now. And this was only the second trick she pulled; how on earth was he able to survive the rest of the day? He tilted his head.
And one trick followed after another, and May seemed to only get more excited after each prank was pulled. Solidad and Harley watched Drew have the roughest day of his life, but neither of the two seemed to feel much sympathy; probably because they hoped it'd stop his constant teasing.
'Is she ever going to stop, Solidad?' Drew groaned, leaning down on the lunch table. 'Hah, I wouldn't know,' she giggled. 'So you're genuinely enjoying this,' Drew whispered, angrily deadpanning at his pinkhaired friend. 'No,' Solidad protested, 'It's just fun seeing the tables turned for a change.'
'You think?' He murmured. 'Because I don't think it's fun.' He sighed, crossing his arms as he lifted himself up. 'Then ask her if she can stop,' Solidad told him. 'May's a very understanding girl.. if you just tell her how the teasing makes you feel, I'm sure she'll reason with you.'
Drew glared at Solidad. 'Yeah, as if. That's exactly that she wants, Sol. She wants me to give in so she has another thing she can pester me with.' He pouted, quickly glaring to the side where May was at her lunch table chatting with Brianna and Dawn.
Solidad sighed. 'I think you're overthinking things. If anything I'm really sure that she just wanted you to know how your teasing effects her,' she said, looking back at Drew who was sitting in front of her, eyebrows cocked. 'Probably..' He whispered. 'But then again, if I give in I'll look weak. I'll have to put up with it for god knows how long.'
Solidad let out a soft giggle. 'Drew, you're making everything hard for yourself..' She chirped, pulling herself up from the table. 'Just tell her, it'll do no harm. I promise.' She swung her backpack over her shoulder, turned around and walked off.
Drew frowned. How would Solidad know how he felt? He had to keep up his good image, he couldn't let down his guard and suddenly become weak and sensitive! He looked back at May. Maybe, just really maybe, he had to turn the tables once again. If he managed to make her even more flustered, she wouldn't be able to tease him anymore?
May happily trotted throughout the hallways. Yes, today was going great. She had seen Drew pout and sigh in annoyance so many times, and, honestly, it massively boosted her ego. May actually wasn't aware Drew was flustered that easily.
'May.'
May turned around and saw Drew, his hands in his pockets. 'Oh? Hi, Drew.' May murmured, her heart lightly hammering in her chest. Drew looked at her seriously. 'Why have you played pranks on me constantly?' He asked.
May felt a tad bit uneasy under his gaze, and could barely let any words escape her mouth. He hasn't ever looked so serious before. 'Uh..' May started, looking into his eyes. 'Well?' Drew asked, his voice low. 'Well.. I thought it was funny to turn the tables for once. I mean, you always tease me and make fun of me.' May mumbled.
Drew didn't answer— he just looked into her eyes. An odd silence fell between the two, mainly for May. Drew was gazing into her eyes, and it appeared as if he wasn't going to look anywhere else anytime soon. 'Well..?' May mumbled, as an anxious feeling filled her stomach. 'Turning the tables, huh..' Drew muttered.
May looked at him in confusion. Drew's eyes slightly narrowed before he walked in closer, making May takes steps back until she hit the wall behind her. She could feel her breath hitch in her throat as, suddenly, Drew put his arms against the wall, making May flinch. 'Drew?' May mumbled, uncertain of what he'd do.
'I don't really like this "turning the tables" idea you have..' Drew muttered underneath his breath, before he lifted up his head to look May directly in the eye. 'I'd prefer things to be the way it used to be.' He whispered, leaning in. May clenched her teeth. 'What, so you can always tease me and make a fool of me?' she coughed.
Drew looked speechless for a second, as if he then realized what he was doing. 'No.. so we can get along again..' Drew answered, his eyelids sinking slightly, making him look more intimidating. May's eyes widened. 'What? Wait, so you're saying that you'll stop teasing?' May asked in surprise.
Drew just looked into her eyes before nodding. 'That is, if you'll do something for me.' He added, his eyes fluttering shut for a brief moment. 'A-And that is?' May asked, a little nervous. 'Kiss me.' Drew whispered, looking back into her sapphire eyes again. May went red in the face. 'W-What?!' She panicked. 'We're in school! I can't just..'
Drew sighed. 'Nobody is here. We're way too early for class, they won't even be here in ten minutes.' He noted, as the corners of his mouth cracked into a grin. 'But you're not denying that you don't want to kiss me,' He jested, grinning playfully at the brunette. 'T-That's.. that's not what I..'
Drew's expression turned somewhat serious again. 'Take it or leave it. Go for it, or the teasing will keep on coming.' He suggested. May looked at Drew, her cheeks red, and her heartbeat nearly in her lungs. 'So... you'll stop teasing me if I do?..' She whispered. Drew's cheeks lit a light pink at the idea. 'Yes.' He nodded.
May swallowed, and leaned in. Smacking her lips against his, she pecked him on the lip for a brief moment before letting go, her cheeks red. 'So you'll stop now, right?' May asked, angrily, yet flustered looking into his eyes. Though Drew's cheeks were pink, he still looked serious. He then turned around. 'Drew? You'll stop now, right?' She asked, a bit more irritated.
Drew looked behind his shoulder. A grin was on his face and his eyes were narrowed in amusement. 'Hmm.. nah,' he answered, before shoving his hands in his pockets and nonchalantly walking off, leaving May red-faced and confused. 'What. The. Hell.' May sighed. 'H-He didn't!' May raged. 'Ugh! DREEEWW!'
heyy. how long has it been? a few weeks? I am SOOO sorry that I didn't have much time to work on this.. ever since school started in extra busy, not to mention everything is very exhausting for me and I don't know when I have enough time to write stuff.
But tonight I did. I had this idea in my head for a while, but I just couldn't get myself to finish it. I'm truly sorry. :(
I'll try to post more often and.. not so, well, not-frequently.
This one was cringey, stupid, embarrassing, yeah, i don't get what i was going for. this was supposed to be more of an humorous kind of chapter, but i just had to add some cute stuff in— and i failed. oopsies.
