May nuzzled her nose into her scarf. Like usual she was on her way to school. She'd planned to hang out with Dawn, but apparently something came up and she wasn't able to come along. Now she had plenty of time left before her first class would even start..

She sighed. Why couldn't Dawn tell her a little sooner she wouldn't be coming? Now she'd be alone for an hour. She guickly gazed into the palm of her cold hand. It'd be a bad idea to go home now, she might as well spend the rest of time at school and study.

Before she knew it she was standing in front of the entrance of the school, snow clamping on her boots. "At least the snow is a little enjoyable," she groaned to herself, untangling the scarf from her neck as soon as she entered the building. "I wonder if Drew's going to be here today.." she whispered.

"Of course I am."

May nearly tripped hearing the oh so familiar voice beside her. Not at all to her surprise it was Drew, who was coolly leaning against the wall. "...Goodmorning to you too," she deadpanned at him, "Why're you here?" she sassily placed her hand on her waist.

"For you," Drew answered smoothly, a light tint of pink dusting his cheeks. "Huh? For me?" She furrowed her eyebrows at him confusedly. Why would he out of all people come early to school for her? "I thought it'd be nice to say hi to my favorite person ever," he murmured sarcastically.

"Drew." May lowered her eyelids at him accusingly, picking up the hint of sarcasm. Drew sighed deeply before crossing his arms coolly, "I might've overheard that bluenette friend of yours calling you that she couldn't show up to hang out with you." he answered.

May cringed slightly, "..So?" "I thought I'd take her place. After all, you tend to easily get yourself into trouble when you're on your own." He grinned ever so slightly, pushing himself off of the wall, "and I'm not in the mood to comfort a crying May again."

Right. He was referencing to the icecream incident. Her cheeks immediately flushed a light pink upon remembering how he'd shared his icecream with her. "I don't cry that easily." She stated confidently, indignantly turning her head. "Sure." Drew murmured sarcastically, rolling his eyes. May pouted slightly.

"Hm? Is something the matter?" Drew queried, noticing the hint of sadness in her eyes. May flinched before shaking her head, "No, not really." She protested a little hesitantly, resulting in Drew letting out a sigh. "There's something wrong.." He exclaimed, his eyes softening upon looking at May again, "..you wanna talk about it?"

May hesitated. "I just really wanted to hangout with Dawn. It was kind of our thing to hang out before school, you know," She murmured, holding her arm ashamedly, "last time it couldn't be work out since my train got delayed and I looked forward to hanging out and catching up again. She's usually with her friend Kenny, and I just.. I kind of miss talking with her." Drew nodded slowly. "I understand."

The two gazed across the hall of the school, both not saying a thing. "..How about we head to the mall nearby? After all, we've got a bunch of time left before our first class starts." Drew suggested, digging his hands into his pockets. "..Huh? Why to the mall?" May questioned, her brows furrowing ever so slightly. "Because who would want to stay here out of all places?" He said, pointing at the crowded hallways.

"I came here to study, but.." she whispered, clenching her fist. She needed some distraction. Since her plans with Dawn were cancelled, she could make plans with somebody else, right..? Drew frowned.

"..I guess sharing some time with someone won't be such a bad thing," She murmured shyly. Drew's frown broke into a grin. "Of course it won't. You'll be hanging out with me after all." He chuckled lightly, reaching for the door handle again, "Ladies first," He mused flirtatiously along with a wink.

"Gee, thanks sir," May giggled, taking the step outside, immediately being embraced by the cold breeze. Drew soon followed suit, digging his hands into his pockets. May took a quick glare at Drew - he didn't have any warm clothes on at all.. he just wore a shirt, jacket and jeans, the usual attire. "..Aren't you cold?" May murmured.

Drew tilted his head. "A little, but I'll be fine. I've learnt to deal with some cold weather," Drew answered, stretching his arms, "..unlike someone else that has to overdress.." he jested, batting his eye playfully at the cringing brunette beside him. "I am not overdressed! Like I've said before, these are normal winter clothes. Stop overexaggerating!"

The two continued to bicker. "..But are you sure you're not cold?" May asked, noticing his red fingers, "It is pretty cold out right now.." she quickly gazed up at the dark sky. The sun still hadn't set. "Yeah, I am," He answered nonchalantly, ignoring the cutting cold.

May let out a soft sigh before untangling her scarf. "..You're not being believable at all right now," she said hushedly, stopping and moving towards Drew to wrap the scarf around his neck, "you're totally going to get sick if you don't dress properly for this kind of weather." With red cheeks May turned around and resumed walking, not noticing the surprise in Drew's eyes.

Once the surprise had worn off he dug his noise into the scarf before chuckling lightly. "You've been surprisingly sweet lately," he murmured softly, "is there a reason?" he gave her a smug look, but May however didn't budge. "No." She answered confidently, though her voice slightly faltered. Lying now was difficult. She had taken a big liking to him.

At first he was such a stuck up jerk, pestering her whenever he had the chance to, but she soon learned he wasn't so bad. He had plenty of issues he dealt with himself, and had kept to himself for ages. She couldn't help but feel like being there for him, no matter how much he managed to irritate her months ago. "May? You know it's impolite to stare."

May went red in the face. "I wasn't! I.. just got lost in thought," she denied, angrily crossing her arms, "Why would I purposely stare at you out of all people?" she huffed. Drew stifled a laugh, noticing her red cheeks. Just like May had taken a liking to him, he had taken a liking to her.

At first she was just a klutzy girl, she was like everyone else, but he soon felt himself opening up to her. No matter how rude he could be, she had always kept on smiling, somehow dragging him into every fun situation she managed to get himself into. His days now seemed.. well, brighter, and more colorful with her. "It's rude to stare!"

Drew furrowed his eyebrows. "I wasn't," he replied coolly, "I was just simply lost in thought." May was still standing still, and he took this moment to make a quick head start. "..And why would I purposely stare at you out of all people?" He commented, looking behind his shoulder. He let his eyelids sink smugly at her, the corners of his lips tugging into a wide smirk.

"Because.. agh!" May groaned, grumpily storming into the distance. "Hurry up, slowpoke!" She yelled back, her cheeks still a light pink. Drew snickered to himself, quickly increasing his pace to catch up with her. "What were you saying again?" he taunted, furrowing his eyebrows at her.

May muttered something under her breath, which Drew (fortunately for her) couldn't hear. The two resumed to walk on the path quietly before May spoke up. "So, Drew.. why were you at school so early today in the first place? You knew there was plenty time left before our first class would start, right?"

Drew frowned, and May could immediately sense something was going on. "..Is it your parents? Are they home again?" May asked softly, looking at him worriedly. She was aware that his parents usually asked a lot of him, and practically abandoned him if he ever needed help with anything himself. Drew nodded, "Yeah," He mustered, looking ahead at the nearby buildings, "they're acting like they always do. Always asking me to clean up everything, cook them food.. so this morning I made an excuse to go school earlier just so I would be out of their way."

May clenched her fist in frustration. How could ones parents act in such a way? "..They're the parents, and you're their son! Why can't they take care of you like good parents?" She bit her lip. Drew furrowed his eyebrows. "Because they aren't good parents. But there's nothing I can do until I'm eighteen." He sighed quietly. "..I'm so sorry, Drew, you really don't deserve all that.." May whispered.

Drew hesitated before responding. "It's fine. There's nothing we can do about it," He murmured, his breath dampening in the cold morning air, "..so we just have to make the best of until I'm finally allowed to make decisions over myself." He gave her a soft smile. "..And what's a better way to have a good time than go to a mall?" May squeaked in excitement, giving him a huge smile back.

"C'mon! Let's hurry it up or else we'll have barely any time to do some shopping!" May giggled before reaching for Drew's cold fingers and intertwining them with her and tugging him along as she made a sprint. "Hey! No need to run, we've got plenty of time!" Drew laughed almost instantly, trying to keep himself balanced on the path that had snow and ice scattered across it, making it a little slippery.

The two arrived at the indoor mall. May let out a sigh of relief as she felt the warm air of the cozy mall brush against her skin. "Aahh.. so nice n warm.." May huffed to herself, standing still for a brief second to appreciate the moment. "Yeah. So what're we gonna do?" Drew asked as he examined the large halls filled with stores. "Try on cute clothes, of course!" May seemed as if, suddenly, she was on fire.

Drew wiped his forehead. "Don't tell me you're gonna make me hold tons of bags for you," he retorted rather irritatedly, not looking forward to having lots of weight to carry on his shoulders just for her. "..Don't worry! I'm not gonna buy anything. I don't have money with me right now.. I'm just gonna see if they've got any nice stuff, and if they do I might keep them in mind!" She broadly grinned at him before turning around. "Where to start..."

Mays eyes shot wide open. "Ooo, Drew, look! Let's start at bulbafashion right over there!" She pointed at the store before making a run for it. Drew was processing what she was saying before following suit.

The two soon entered the store, and May was immediately in awe. "Wow! Look at how big this store is!" May cooed, her eyes checking out all the racks of clothes. "You've never been to a store like this? Bulbafashion isn't even near big," he stated calmly, apparently not very surprised. "This isn't near big?" May mustered. "That's crazy. This is the biggest store i've ever seen in my life.." Her voice trailed off. "this... this is... AWESOME!"

Before Drew knew it May had stormed off to look for clothes, while he was just standing there, confused and dumbfounded. Eventually he chuckled lightly to himself — May was having a great time — and seeing that was really what he needed after such a rough morning. "Adorable like always," He grinned to himself.

"I couldn't hear you, what'd you say?" A familiar voice said in front of him once he had spaced out.

It was May, with a few hangers with clothes in her hands. "Nothing important," He said coolly, though slightly embarrassed. "Anyway, you're fast... found something you like?" he queried, checking out the hangers with clothes that she held. May immediately nodded happily. "Yeah! All the stuff here is so pretty! I would've tried on more stuff but obviously we don't have the time for that, hehe!"

Drew nodded calmly, trying desperately not to get affected by her contagious wide smile and giggles. "Well then, let's head for the dressing rooms so you can try them on," he suggested, making his way over to the rooms with May by his side, "what stuff did you find anyway?"

May huffed before proudly sticking up the hangers into the air. "This one's leggings, this one is a simple sweater, this one is a shirt for when the weather gets a little warmer, and this is a little dress!" She giggled, absolutely ready to try them on. "You're already looking for clothes for during the summer? May, it's winter." He laughed to himself, making May groan. "There's nothing wrong with thinking ahead!"

The two soon arrived at the dressing rooms. May shoved all the hangers except for the leggings into Drew's arms before rushing into the dressing rooms. "What happened to 'could you please hold my hangers for me, Drew?'" he sighed inwardly, "She'll never change. Gee." May peeked through the curtain that hid the dressing room. "What'd you say?" She squinted her eyes at him accusingly. "Nothing."

After a second May stepped out with a pair of white leggings. She twirled around happily. "What do you think, Drew?" May asked, quickly glaring down them. "They're okay," Drew muttered nonchalantly. May furrowed her eyes, "If you don't like them you can say so," she commented bitterly, sensing he didn't really seem impressed.

"It's not that I don't like them," Drew started, lifting up his hand, "It's just simply not my style." He flicked his hair out of his face, though a smile soon embraced his lips. "But that hardly matters. What do you think of them?" The chartreuse haired student calmly crossed his arms. May bit her lip. "Well, I think they're cute. Your sense of style sucks!" She stuck her tongue out at him before stepping back into the dressing room.

"Why're you insulting my fashion sense? I'm not commenting on your chaotic way of dressing," Drew mustered to himself. "Because I can, grasshead!" A slightly muffled voice could be heard from the dressing room. "Grasshead? Is that my new nickname?" Drew was baffled ever so slightly, staring at the curtains with wide eyes. "Yes!"

Drew sighed lightly. That was what he got for calling her anything except for May. He quietly hummed to himself before May stepped out again, this time with an oversized sweater on. "I think it's nice, but.. just a little big..?" she huffed, pulling on the hem of the fabric. "Oh, yeah. That's definitely big. Was it your size?" Drew asked skeptically.

"It was! There were no smaller sizes left though!" May whined. "Guess this isn't it either," she turned around and stepped back into the room, swiftly closing the curtains. Drew had kept it to himself, but he thought May looked pretty in anything. Whether oversized, undersized, or whatever.. she looked nice.

"Ack. I know about this one already. Too tight, and too short!" Drew could hear May complaining in the dressing room. "Let me see?" Drew questioned very calmly, though received an aggressive reply in return. "NO! No way!" May hissed.

"What the hell did you find if you're this embarrassed?" He asked confusedly, imagining May with some stupid clown costume on. "I'm not embarrassed! It's just way too short, you're gonna make a laughing stock of me." May groaned from behind the curtains. "Not if I promise I won't."

May hesitated before slowly sliding the curtain, revealing a deadpanning May. She looked far from dressed in a clown costume. She wore a top, which was perhaps a little too short, revealing half of her lower stomach. "What'd I tell you?" she spat, her cheeks red. Drew's cheeks unconciously turned pink.

"Hm? I don't see a problem.. Short tops like that are really popular at the moment.." He commented dryly. "What? So people actually wear these things?" May gasped, staring down at her exposed stomach. "Yeah. Anyway, you said it's too tight, so that's definitely a no go." Drew flicked his fringe again. "Mm.. you're right. Well, time for the last item then!" May chirped before skipping back into the dressing room.

After a second she stepped out again, this time with a short sundress, with a pattern of Daisies on them. "I think this one's cute, what do you think?" May twirled around happily, the delicate fabric of the skirt flowing along. Drew felt himself melt. "You look pretty," he admitted, his cheeks still a light pink, "something like that will definitely be nice for the summer."

May giggled, though her heart was thumping loudly in her throat. He called her pretty! "It would definitely be nice for the summer, yeah! A big bummer that I don't have my money with me.." May pouted, glaring down at the sundress. Drew got an idea. "We'll return sometime and buy this for you, okay?" Drew offered.

May's eyes immediately lightened up. "You mean it?" She murmured, her smile reappearing - and widening as well. "..I mean it." Drew smiled subtly at her, "You seem to really like it. Plus, you looked cute." He chuckled, giving her a quick wink. "You think?" She spluttered, her cheeks flaring a light pink. "Yeah." Drew smirked.

The two resumed to pass conversation before Drew took out his phone. "Looks like classes are going to start soon, I think it's a good idea we make our way back and make sure we're not too late." he suggested, looking back up at May from his phone. May nodded. "You're right!" She nodded enthusiastically.

The two were marching back from school through the snow. "That was so much fun!" May giggled, "I haven't gone out to a clothing store in soooo long!" she continued to sing a happy tune as she skipped through the snow, the snow cracking beneath her feet. "Be careful, or you'll-" right as he wanted to warn her, May's foot slipped.

Drew rushed to grab Mays hand to keep her from falling, but his foot slipped as well. The two fell down in the snow. The two had fallen beside eachother, face flat into the cold snow. "Brrr.. so.. cold..." May mumbled, her teeth clattering. "No kidding..." Drew huffed, still a little startled. Suddenly however, May broke into laughter. "Bwaahaaa!"

Drew laughed almost instantly too. "What's so funny?" he sniggered, suddenly not so bothered anymore that his bare skin was freezing. "That was so embarassing! We both fell face flat into the snow!" She snorted, clutching her stomach, "..right when you tried to warn me!"

As if Drew suddenly understood he broke into laughter as well. "I tried to catch you," he snickered, "I wouldn't have fallen if you were so reckless!" May couldn't stop laughing as she desperately tried to reply, "I.. I am not.. reckless! Hehe!" she laughed, covering her freezing lips with her hand. "You— hah—you are!" Drew smirked.

The laughing soon died down. "Gee.. I had no idea hanging out with you could be so much fun!" May giggled, lifting herself back up, so now that she was sitting straight up. Drew brushed some snow off of his arm, pulling himself back up also. "Likewise," Drew beamed, "I haven't laughed like that in a long while."

Suddenly, Drew felt something hit his shoulder.

It was May's head. A curl of her hair tickled his neck, almost making him giggle. "...Drew?" May murmured after a second of silence. "Yeah?" he whistled, looking down at her red cheeks. "Thanks for this morning." She quickly nuzzled him in the neck, making Drew's heart thump about a thousand miles faster. "O-Oh! Um, no problem." He fumbled before reaching his hand towards Mays head to give her a quick ruffle.

Drew sniffed lightly, bringing himself back on his feet. "We should really hurry up now, or else we'll be late. You don't wanna be late with ms. foster here," He grinned, inviting his hand towards May. May smiled widely. "You're right! Let's get going!"

"Mom! I'm home!" May chirped, stepping through the door. She took off her snow stained boots before placing them beneath the clothing rack. "Hey! Welcome back sweetheart!" Caroline mused happily, watching as her daughter marched in. "How was school?" She asked once May had fallen down on the couch.

"It was fun!" May giggled, reaching for a pillow to pull it up to her chest. It was extremely cold outside and she could use some warmth. "Fun? That's a new one," Max commented dryly from the table, shoving a toast into his mouth. "It's snowing outside, Max. Maybe you should experience some fun for the first time and actually go outside." May retorted bitterly. Max pushed his glasses back up his nose, "Snow is isn't fun."

May lifted herself up from the couch. "Your definition of fun is stupid. What's fun for you is being an annoying nosy brat never down to do anything." she pointed her finger accusingly at him. "I'm not an annoying nosy brat, you are!" Max spat.

"Max, May, stop it," Caroline mustered, strolling back into the room, "That's enough. May, why don't you go head up to your room?" The woman asked nicely. May groaned. "Okay. Sorry." She gave Max a bitter glare before pulling off her jacket, tossing it on the sofa where Max was sitting. She then ran upstairs. Max could be such a pain!

It had been days since May and Drew had hung out. Only if she could have as much fun now.. she slammed her head into the table. "I swear," May groaned, "I want ms. foster to get fired. These massive amounts of homework are just... too much!" She slapped her laptop closed, really tired to do any more. "Not to mention we've got a test... this week!"

She lifted herself off of the table before sighing to herself. She needed something to cheer her up, but all the homework was just making her dread to make it all day long. She gazed out of her rooms window, observing as a group of teenagers walked by, sodas and cigarettes in their hands. "Aw, man.."

"I need a break from this nightmare," May mustered to herself as she pulled herself off of her seat. In a quick pace she headed for the staircase, immediately running down. She was hungry, and not to mention incredibly tired. Ms foster obviously could be blamed for this.

As soon as she had lumped her way downstairs Caroline looked at her worriedly. "May, dear, you look gloomy, is everything all right?" She looked at her brown haired daughter who eventually sat down on the couch, chin in her palm. "I'm fine. I just got loads of homework. I'm moody and exhausted." She leaned back in the couch, her eyes fluttering shut for a brief moment.

"Aw, honey. Well, cheer up! The handsome boy from before brought you a package!" Caroline mused before skipping over to the doormat were the package was placed. "The handsome boy from before?" May whispered to herself, quite confused. Why would anyone bring her a package?

Caroline marched back towards May before gently pressing the package into her hands, "Just open it up," Caroline chirped with a wink, then turning around and making her way back to the kitchen. "Ah.. okay.." May hesitantly grabbed for the cardboard, carefully opening the box. She just saw a black, plastic bag. "What in the..?"

She opened the plastic bag, and to her surprise what was in it seemed a little too familiar. It was soft to the touch. It was fabric, definitely. She lifted it up into her hands. That was the moment she realized what it was. A white sundress with daisies! Her cheeks spontaniously turned red as she looked down at the dress. "...Drew.." she murmured to herself.

He had gone out of his way to buy it for her, hadn't he? She lightly giggled to herself as she rubbed her finger across the soft fabric. "That jerk.. can be so incredibly nice sometimes.." she huffed to herself. She felt a little guilty he'd gone out of his way to buy her the sundress.

As if all her sleepiness had been sucked from her body she pulled herself up. "Mom, I've got to go!" She giggled excitedly, making a sprint toward the clothingrack to pick up her jacket. "Hm? Where to, honey?" Caroline queried, peeking from the kitchen. "..To my friend!"

Caroline chuckled. "Weren't you tired?" the mother asked with an admiring smile, noticing her daughter happily jumping up and about. "Yes, but I am no more!" She quickly slipped on her jacket and shoes before rushing out the door. "Bye, mom!"

Before Caroline could respond May had already shut the door.

Yeah, she was happy all right! But wouldn't be that so weird if your friend- no, scratch that- secret crush bought you a dress you really like? She silently squealed to herself. Had hopped on the train and went off to Drew's house. She just had to thank him!

It was hard to ignore her heart beating faster than ever so slightly in her chest. Remembering the moment when she stupidly nuzzled him in the neck didn't help. She had fallen for him, and hard.

She felt only more dizzy and stressed once she was at the porch of his house. She quickly placed her hand on her chest before taking a deep breath. "I am going to sound so desperate standing at his door like this, but.. I'm so thankful for all that he's done.." She mustered to herself before furrowing her eyebrows and bravely stepping up to his door.

She shyly reached for the doorbell, and proceeded to wait.

...

and wait.

why wasn't he opening the door?

she puffed her cheek before knocking on the door a few more times, "Drew! Drew, open up!" Her voice was faltering, mostly because of sheer embarrassment. She sounded even more desperate by screaming for his name!

She felt her stress wear off though as no answer came. "Hm. Maybe he's not home.." she gazed up to a window in the building above. The lights were off. "..So much for traveling all this way for nothing." She huffed, though she was relieved ever so slightly he didn't hear her screaming. With a deep sigh she turned around. "I'll have to thank him at school.." She murmured tiredly.
