15 years later...
At Eastman High School, four teenage girls began to walk out of algebra class and head to their lockers. The Lotus Ninjas opened their lockers and placed their textbooks inside. Leona has long straight black hair pulled back into a high, curly ponytail held in place by a white ponytail holder in the shape of a lotus flower and green eyes. She wore a blue short-sleeved crop top, a short three-layered white ruffled skirt and navy-blue sneakers. Rafaela has dark red wavy hair growing slightly past her shoulders. She wore a red one shoulder crop top, black denim capris, and reddish-black sneakers. Donatella has chin-length brunette hair that is styled in a bob-cut. She wore a short-sleeved purple and black plaid shirt, dark brown capri-style shorts bound to her waist by a seatbelt-like belt, and dark purple sneakers. Michelle has shoulder-length blonde hair that is tied back in pigtails. She wore an orange top under a short-sleeved orange and white star-printed side shirt, hunter green capris, and burnt orange sneakers.
The Lotus Ninjas slammed their locker doors and spun around in time to see their best friend April O'Neil waving at them. April has a stout, plus-sized build with dark brown skin, short auburn red hair styled in box braids, brown eyes, and freckles on her face. She wore a short-sleeved yellow buttoned jacket over a black shirt with a white graphic print, blue ripped jeans, white socks, and white All-Star sneakers with black laces. She also wore a purple beanie hat, a pair of purple glasses, a silver spiked-bracelet on her right wrist, and a gold pendant around her neck.
"What's sup, girls?" April greeted.
"Hiya, April." Lee, Donna, and Ellie greeted back.
"Sup." Ella greeted causally.
"I've been listening to Vandelize by One Ok Rock you were telling me about and you were right." April said. "This song is an absolute earworm."
"I told you." Ella smiled. "I've also been listening to Nicki Minaj's songs. Hey Mama, Knockout, Bang Bang, and Check it Out are my favorites."
"I love Beyonce's Crazy in Love, Run the World, and Cuff It." Ellie added. "Her music in Destiny's Child was dope too."
"What about Pink? Her pop rock music is amazing." Donna said. "Especially So What and Get the Party Started."
"How about TLC? No Scrubs, Waterfalls, What About Your Friends, Hat 2 da Back, and Fanmail are the bomb." April said.
"And let's not forget about K-pop." Lee pointed out. She was a big fan of Korean pop music. "BTS, Momoiro Clover Z, and Blackpink changed my life."
"Hey, Donna. Do you still have your biology notes?" April asked.
"Got ya covered." Donna replied, taking her written notes out of her backpack and handed them to April. "Everything all accounted for."
"All right. Let's go over our after-school schedule." Lee said. "Donna?"
"Chess club." Donna said enthusiastically.
"Ella." Lee continued.
"Heading to the library for my astronomy homework." Ella said.
"Ellie." Lee ordered.
"Track meeting canceled, so comic book club for me." Ellie said.
"And I have cheerleading practice." Lee concluded. "And we'll head out for pizza afterwards."
"Sounds like a plan." April said. "I'll join Donna for a while."
With that, the Lotus Ninjas and April set out on opposite routes and headed into different after-school activities.
Lee and her fellow cheerleaders performed various cheer moves and stunts in perfect sync until they formed a perfectly amazing pyramid with Lee on top of them inside the school's gym.
Ella opened her astronomy textbook and scanned through the pages while writing down answers to her homework questions inside the school's library.
Ellie presented her comic book ideas to her fellow members, who opened up about their ideas one by one.
Donna was gazing at the chess pieces with a smirk, patiently waiting for her opponent to make his move. Once a nerdy male student moved in with his king, Donna declared "checkmate" and won the game with a king and queen. April, on the other hand, watched a news report on her phone.
"Another brazen and deadly robbery today in the heart of Manhattan." A news reporter reported.
File photos of each stolen item appeared on the screen as the anchor named them.
"An industrial-grade generator, capable of powering all of Staten Island, was stolen mid-transport." The news reporter listed. "Police fear that the incident is connected to recent thefts of plutonium, high-density conducting cables, and a nuclear power converter."
The screen then showed file photos of other stolen items.
"In other news, six rare talismans were stolen along with an ancient artifact from feudal Japan." The news reporter added. "All the police have to go on at this point is vague rumors of two mysterious criminal masterminds known on the streets as Superfly and Zelena."
Enjoy and review.
