A frozen heart
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma having a breakdown and David being there for her.
When Elsa's beam had hit Emma's heart. Nobody knew exactly what to expect. Originally, people thought she might literally freeze, but it became obvious over a couple of days with her temperature being monitored that that wasn't what was happening. Emma was curled up in a ball on her bed in her parents' house. She just felt so lost. Like she didn't know where she was meant to be going, and felt like she'd never get there. There was a pain inside her. It had started in her stomach but had slowly moved into her chest. Like the pain spread slowly with every heartbeat. She didn't understand it, and didn't know how to stop it. All she wanted to do was cry but it was impossible. She was sure she should be out there, helping her family stop the ice queen (Elsa's mom had also decided to come to town). But she just couldn't. She felt so weak, so tired. Not only weak, but useless. Like whatever she did she just mucked up. She would never be of use to anyone. She was best just staying out of all their ways.
She heard a small knock at her door. She didn't even have the energy to answer. Whoever it was clearly decided to take her silence as a yes, as she next heard footsteps coming towards her bed followed by someone sitting at the edge of it.
"Oh Emma." Her dad said softly. "Not doing so good huh?" Emma just shrugged. She felt her dad squeeze her shoulder.
"You're going to be ok princess. Your mother and I are doing our best to work this out. Find a way to undo whatever she did. We will make you better Emma." When she didn't respond, David pulled her closer. "I'm here." He whispered. "You're not alone." And for just a brief moment of relief, the pain inside Emma dimmed.
