Crash
Small season 4 spoilers in this chapter! Another one of my own little oneshots. Even though it doesn't seem Emma's parents are anywhere near her when she crashes the car and she gets out to confront the Snow Queen, it inspired me to write this.
It was almost like it happened in slow motion to Snow and David. They were just leaving lunch at Granny's when it happened. First, they heard a skidding noise. They turned around to see Emma's bug spinning out of control towards a wall. There was nothing they could do, it all happened far too quickly. Almost the second they saw it the side of Emma's car crashed into the wall at speed. Almost on auto pilot, Snow quickly shoved Neal in his car seat into Red's arms sprinting towards Emma's car, with David just ahead of her. David reached the car first. He quickly went round to the driver's door (it had been the passenger side that had collided with the wall, thankfully).
"Emma." He said, fighting to stay calm. "Are you alright?" Emma nodded, David could see she was incredibly pale and obviously in shock.
Emma could hear her heartbeat in her ears, it was making it even harder to hear what her dad was asking her whilst her mom stood behind him. Emma couldn't hear that Snow was calling Whale to let the hospital know they were on their way, otherwise she probably would have protested seeing as she didn't think she'd been injured.
"Emma, is there any pain at all in your head, neck or back?" David asked. Emma shook her head. "Are you positive?"
"Yes." Emma said shakily. "Nothing's in pain. I'm just a little shook up. The car…it just started spinning…"
"Shh." David said, gently squeezing her shoulder. "How it happened doesn't matter just now. What's important is that you're alright." He reached over and unclipped her seatbelt. "Come on, your mom called Whale. He's going to make sure you've not got any internal damage alright?" Emma nodded, but just as she was about to get out of the car her dad hooked his arm under her legs and put his other arm around her shoulders and pulled her out.
"What's going on, why are you carrying me?" Emma asked. She tried to push away from him and get down, but he wasn't budging.
"Emma, you didn't think we'd let you walk, did you?" Her mother said from beside her. "You just had a terrible shock. Even getting on your feet could make you faint. Humour us, would you?" Snow said, scanning Emma for any visible injuries. Emma sighed, slumping back against David.
"I can see resistance is futile." She grumbled. Snow smiled back.
"Indeed it is." Snow agreed, leading the way back to the truck.
