No babies allowed

luckygirl asked for a oneshot of Emma helping Neal who is jealous of a new little brother.

Neal sat in the little tent his parents had given him for his birthday. He'd scribbled a little note which to him said "No babies allowed." Not that anyone had asked what it said. They only cared about the stupid baby. Stupid little Andrew. He heard someone come into his room and hid under the blanket in the tent. The person came closer and crouched down. He heard them pick up his note.

"What's this a drawing off then buddy?" He heard his big sister ask him.

"It's not a drawing." He said grouchily. "It's a note. It says no babies allowed." He told Emma.

"Ahh." Emma said, understanding now. "You upset about Andrew huh?" Neal didn't answer, he just stayed under his blanket. "Neal." Emma said gently. "Buddy don't ignore me." When Neal didn't answer again Emma sighed, then reached in and pulled the blanket off of him.

"Hey!" He shouted. A stern look from Emma and he quietened down.

"I know how you feel." She said. Neal folded his arms tightly across his chest.

"How." He grumbled.

"You feel scared that he's going to take up all of mom and dad's attention. That they're going to forget about you and Andrew will become their new favourite." Neal peered up at her with sad eyes.

"You do know." He said, surprised. Emma nodded.

"Buddy, remember they're my mom and dad too. So this is exactly how I felt when you were born." Neal looked shocked.

"It was?" He asked her. Emma nodded again.

"Sure was. But that didn't happen with me, did it? Mom and dad haven't forgotten about me, have they?" Neal shook his head. Emma reached in to the tent and pulled Neal out onto her lap.

"So they're not going to do that with you, kid. Mom and dad love us all the same. Yeah, there might be times when you're going to have to be a big boy and let mom and dad have some special time with Andrew, but that doesn't mean they love you or I any less, ok?" Neal nodded into her shoulder. He felt Emma pick him up.

"Come on then, let's go down and say hello."
