Big owie

A guest asked for a Daddy Charming oneshot. So, we're mixing things up a little and using little Emma in the Enchanted Forest.

"Doc will be here very soon angel, I promise." Charming said, gently rubbing Emma's back. Emma's bottom lip trembled as she whimpered and curled up against him. He and Emma had been playing with the wooden swords out in the courtyard when Emma tripped and appeared to have broken her arm.

"Want mommy too." Emma whimpered feebly.

"I know princess, and she'll be here as fast as she can. You saw the message she sent back from Auntie Ella's, she'll leave immediately. But even then honey she probably won't be back until tomorrow. Will daddy do until then?" Emma nodded. Charming kissed her head. "That's my big brave girl." Charming praised her. Just then, Doc came into the room.

"I hear the princess has quite a sore arm?" Charming nodded.

"Indeed she does." Doc came over and knelt down in front of Emma.

"Emma, can I have a little look at your arm?" Doc asked. Emma shook her head frantically, using her good hand to cling tightly to her daddy's shirt.

"Come on baby." Charming encouraged her. "Doc needs to look at your arm to make it feel better."

"But he'll make it hurt more." Emma cried. Charming rubbed her back.

"It might hurt a little princess, but by doing that he'll be able to make it all better so it stops hurting all together." Charming carefully removed Emma's fingers from her shirt.

"No!" Emma yelled, trying to stay where she was.

"It's ok, it's ok." David said, trying to calm her. "Do you trust daddy?" Emma nodded. "Then let me turn you round, and let Doc look at your arm, ok?" Emma sniffed.

"Ok." David gently turned Emma around, keeping her on his lap. Doc smiled.

"I'll be as gentle as I can." Doc promised, taking Emma's arm.

Emma tried her hardest to be very brave whilst Doc examined her arm. When he was done, he smiled at her.

"Well Emma, the good news is your arm isn't broken. I think you've just given yourself a very nasty sprain." Doc dug through his bag and pulled out a little pouch of water and wrapped it in a cloth. "So what I'm going to do is take this little bit of very cold water from the lake and keep it against your elbow in a sling, ok? It'll help make sure your arm doesn't swell."

"Ok." Emma whimpered. Doc carefully and quickly wrapped Emma's arm up in the sling, bowed to David and left. David hugged Emma close to him.

"You were such a brave girl." He praised her. "Daddy's very proud of you. In fact," David said, getting up with Emma on his hip. "So proud that we're going to go downstairs and get you some cake." Emma grinned, leaning her head against David's shoulder. This wasn't so bad after all.
