Once the unfamiliar sensation of being teleported wore off, the six teens discovered themselves in a restaurant with an enormous platter of sandwiches and diet soda in front of them. Danny's group needed to find out where they were. However, Ceci's party already knew.
This was their local hangout Waverly Gyros. Their world's version of the Nasty Burger. Everyone held their heads for a few seconds waiting for them to stop spinning. "Okay, I NEVER want to travel like that again!" shouted Jamie as the spinning stopped. He wondered if this was what a hangover felt like.
"Okay, where the heck are we? I've never seen this place before!" Sam demanded, scanning the unfamiliar restaurant.
"This is where we hang out, Ms. Attitude," snarled Denise, to which Ceci sought to calm the atmosphere.
"Denise, there is no reason to be snappy. She only asked a question. However," Ceci looked directly at the goth girl. "You could've phrased it much more respectfully."
"I hate to break it to you, but Sam has never been one for manners. Ow! What? It's true!" as Tucker rubbed his arm, she punched.
"Can we please act our age? There must be a reason we were sent here," Danny reasoned. He reached for one of the sandwiches. After all, he had yet to have time to eat before being summoned.
"Yep, little brother. I'm sure there is...ahh!" as another luminous scroll materialized in the center of the table. Ceci promptly seized it before the other patrons caught sight of it.
"Dearest Questers, I'm afraid I neglected to mention something significant. For you to accomplish your mission, you must forge strong bonds. For only working together can we rescue the multiverse.
Clockwork turned back time to a degree. Therefore, please take advantage of this opportunity of getting to know each other. You've six hours before Phantom's group is sent back to their world.
Use this time wisely. Regards, Enchantra."
"Well, that's not something I foresaw. Us having a heart-to-heart. Yet, it makes sense. So here's what we will do. Each person asks a question about someone else. Then the other will answer. We'll slowly rotate around the table until we better understand each other. Little brother? It's only proper your group goes first. After all, you're the guest here. So shall we begin?" Ceci suggested, to which her little brother nodded.
Danny turned to Sam and gave her a nod. "Well, my name is Sam Manson. My parents are retro, overly perky country clubbers. We're also wealthy, which I could care less about. We're of the Jewish religion. I've been goth for years, and I'm a vegetarian. So please don't think of pushing meat in front of me."
Next, Tucker introduced himself. "Tucker Foley. Tech genius of the group, and I'm a meat lover through and through. It would be best if you need any help with anything with technology. Then, I'm your guy. Also, don't touch the hat."
"Denise, your turn," Ceci gestured to her friend. Denise took a quick bite of her sandwich before her introduction.
"Well, my name is Denise Duquesne. My parents both work in the medical field. I've got a younger sister, Danika. We adopted her when she was six months old from Africa. I'm co-captain of the cheerleader squad at school. The other co-captain is named Bonnie Storm. She's your standard plastic, superficial mean girl.
In fact, that her in the right-hand corner," Denise pointed across the room. The group gazed at a voluptuous tan-skinned girl with long curly blond hair and big blue eyes. She was wearing a remarkably skimpy outfit moreover was quite busty.
Tucker seemed memorized by the older girl's chest before Sam snapped him out of it. "Tucker! That girl got to be this world's Paulina! You know, a shallow airhead beauty queen!"
"Paulina?" questioned Denise with a raised eyebrow.
Sam replied disgustingly, "Paulina is the pretty shallow girl the boys all fawn over. You know, rich, pretty, petty, and not a nice person. Only skin-deep beauty."
"I see. Well, she and Bonnie sound similar, alright. Anyway, I believe it's Jamie's turn to introduce himself," as she gazed her brown eyes into Jamie's gray ones.
"Hmm, hi! Jamie Ramsey! I'm part of the school drama club. I've scored plenty of kick-ass roles. My parents work for CPS and have fostered many kids in the past. They're currently working on adopting my soon-to-be younger brother Ruben.
We're also Jewish, but my parents accept that I'm gay. So they're a little more open-minded. My family also runs a lot, which I hate. I've got the most prominent house out of our group due to my parents' career. My mom is also a part-time photographer. Which she is exceptionally good at."
"What roles have you played?" Sam questioned curiously.
"Well, I've played the lead Hamilton and Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat," he confessed while trying not to blush while giving Danny the side eye.
"Now, if only you'd stop crushing on the wrong guys, Jamie," mumbled Denise. She had her work cut out for her. Since everyone in school called her the Peace Valley Matchmaker, she'd been trying to set up Jamie with a new transfer student. A trans-male from Minnesota named Wendell Hilton.
She knew Wendell fancied Jamie, but her friend was oblivious. The sole reason Wendell joined the drama club was to be close to his crush. So after this crisis was resolved, she'd make sure those two had a date.
Denise came out of the fog as Ceci informed the group of the rest of the junior class political party. How Ceci's date Cory was class president. Ceci also explained class secretary was a biracial girl named Kati Zografos.
Danny's group seemed impressed when Ceci conveyed that Kati was half-Native American and half-Greek. Kati was fluent in her mother tribe's language, plus Greek and English.
She also supervised the school blog and desired to be a journalist when she graduated college. Her boyfriend was their class treasurer, Garth Hayes, originally from Tennessee. He got the best mathematics grades. He was also part of the school's academic team.
Danny then briefed them regarding Casper High students moreover Lancer. Ceci informed her little brother their primary teacher was named Candice Edward. She was one of three identical triplet sisters.
Her sisters where their younger siblings' primary teachers. Plus, their identical triplet husbands were the band teachers at each school. Even more freaky, they had a five-year-old daughter and were expecting sons in a few months.
Then the two groups exchanged stories of their adventures since ghosts swarmed their hometowns. Plus, a few more things about their school and home lives. As the six-hour mark approached, the two groups had a much better understanding of one another.
Still, they knew there was plenty of bonding left to do. However, it would have to wait till they're called upon again.
Ceci and Danny shared a quick hug before his group disappeared back to their reality. Ceci and her friends decided to hit the sack while they could. Unfortunately, none of the teens realized the Ancients had observed their interactions.
"Well, they're gradually bonding. However, it needs to become much deeper to survive what is to come," Enchantra noted.
"Friendship bonds are not developed overnight, Enchantra. Any bond takes time and patience. Hopefully, working together will bolster their bonds. However, at least they've got the basic idea of one another," Cognite reasoned.
"You speak the truth, Cognite. I sense the sprouts of a new friendship. That means there is a tiny bit of life between their blossoming friendships. Still, for it to grow, they must work together," Vida pointed out.
"They each have incredibly different personalities. A personality is a type of energy all its own. And it doesn't also meld together in a useful energy source, mind you," Dynama interjected.
"Either way? These children are our only hope. So let's pray for now they can rest before their next test," Clockwork spoke in his old form. The others nodded in agreement.
