Desiree floated aimlessly around the vacant playground. No one had made any wishes for ages. Therefore, she hadn't been able to work her magic. Moreover, if she was honest with herself? She was lonesome and desired a friend.
Unexpectedly, she felt a strong magical tug, so she investigated it. She eventually found a little black cat with big green eyes crying its heart out. Desiree appeared stumped as to why a kitty was giving off magical vibes.
Then to her shock, the kitten spoke. "Hey! Do you think you could help me? I can sense strong magic within you. Perhaps you can undo this rotten hex?"
"Hex? Who are you?" the wishing ghost asked, baffled.
"Well, that's a long story. I'll tell it to you if you undo the curse I'm under. Please? I don't want to be a cat for the next thirteen years!"
"Well, I can try. I'm confident you understand the basic rules of magic. Such as mixing magic is a bad idea."
"Or that magic always comes back on itself? Yes, I know. But please, at least try!"
"If that is your wish, then I shall grant it." Desiree conjured up some pink mist before sprinkling it on the talking feline. It took a few seconds, but the cat turned back into the witch ghost Danny had met previously.
"Puppy dog tails! Thanks so much! I must be the only witch who is allergic to cats! So being one was extra torture."
"This might be a good time to explain yourself. Like, could you give me your name?" Desiree asked with her arms crossed.
"Oh, my name is Twiggy! I'm a member of the Silver Owl Coven back home in Peace Valley. I ended up in Amity Park for some unknown reason. Then the ghost girl, Spirit's younger brother, helped me get back home."
"I've never heard of Peace Valley or someone by the name of Spirit. However, I know of a ghost boy named Phantom. Are you saying he's related to another half-ghost?"
"As far as I can figure, yes. I was able to sense a similar aura around them. Therefore, the only logical conclusion is their siblings. Anyway, he helped me get home in time for my coven meeting. Unfortunately for me, the head witch Arabell was still in a pissy mood. She's got a nasty temper, and went she loses it beware! She turned three coven members, myself included, into cats for thirteen years."
"Yikes! That's a little extreme, even for someone throwing a hissy fit. I feel sorry for you," Desiree replied with sympathy.
"Well, thanks for undoing the curse. By the way, you never did give me your name," Twiggy spoke as she removed a twig from her hair.
"I'm Desiree, the wishing ghost. I'll grant anyone's heart's desire," the genie replied proudly.
"Oh, so your a genie! That's neat. I've never met anyone else magical besides my coven sisters," Twiggy looked very downhearted as she said that.
"Hmm, well, I admit it gets lonely being the only magical ghost in town," confessed the beautiful jinn.
"Well, I don't know how I got here again. But it'd be fun to spend the day with another magic user. So shall we see which of us knows the craft the best?" suggested Twiggy.
Desiree smiled as if her heart's desire had come true. "Let's do it!" The magical ghosts giggled as they went off to have fun.
Meanwhile, Ceci's group had arrived in Amity Park. Fortunately, like Danny's group, they'd appeared at a deserted playground. "Well, how long do you think we'll be waiting?" Jamie muttered impatiently.
"It shouldn't be long in coming, Jamie. So quit whining!" Denise admonished him.
"My little brother will be here in a couple of minutes. I can feel it." Ceci informed her friend. Sure enough, Danny and his friends pulled up on their electric scooters.
"Hey, sis! Sorry if we made you wait. I had to find a way to ditch our other sister. Jazz has again wanted to play psychoanalyst since we encountered a witch ghost."
Ceci raised an eyebrow. "You've met Twiggy already?"
"Yes, she seemed relatively nice. She even gave me a healing potion," her younger brother replied.
Ceci gave her brother an amused smile, "Well, she does have her good days. I admit she isn't as menacing as some other ghosts. It primarily depends on the days we encounter her if she is naughty or nice.
"Well, shall we go hunting for who doesn't belong here? Also, I'm not just a ghost detector!" as he glared at his friends.
"Don't be so touchy, Danny. It was just a joke," Sam remarked. She unquestionably didn't see why yesterday's joke had insulted her friend so much.
To their surprise, Jamie cut in. "You know you've to be mindful of what you consider a joke. You may think something funny. However, to the recipient? They may only find it offensive and rude. So, please think before you speak. Or you might wind up getting smacked in the face. I've had it happen at least twice. So again, think before you speak."
Surprisingly the siblings said in unison. "Thank you, Jamie, for your words of wisdom!"
"I guess you're not a total idiot, Jamie. Still, I'm itching to find the ghost who doesn't belong here. So shall we get going? Besides, I'm on a tight schedule today. I'm supposed to babysit tonight while my parents go out on their monthly date night," Denise interjected.
"Okay, sounds cool. So let's start walking. We should turn up something sooner or later. Let me just set Amy up," Tucker said as he programmed his PDA.
Twenty minutes later, the group was heading out of the park. However, Danny and Ceci's ghost sense went off before they even got close to the exit. Rolling their eyes, they went to see who was causing trouble. The group quickly power-walked till they came upon an unforgettable sight. They discovered what appeared to be a child's birthday party.
However, that wasn't the peculiar thing. The bizarre thing was that Twiggy and Desiree performed various magic tricks for the children. Like with the Box Ghost and Mailman, the two ghosts became instant friends. Neither was misusing their magic. They were having a good time entertaining the children. Ceci turned to her brother and whispered. "Who is that?" pointing at Desiree.
"That's Desiree, the wishing ghost. However, she usually twists a person's wish. According to Tucker, she died of a broken heart and old age. However, I highly doubt she died from both."
"I'd have to agree with you, brother. She's far too young and captivating to have died of old age. So how should we approach this?"
"We should wait till their magic show is done. I don't want to ruin either the kids or their good time. So we should sit back and wait," so the six teens did.
They calmly waited under a maple tree until the party was over. The children thanked both ghosts for entertaining them before leaving. After the last child was out of sight, Danny stood up and walked over. "Hey, Des. Hello again, Twiggy. I should thank you for giving a child a great birthday party."
"Hello, again!" Twiggy gave Danny a warm smile. "I want to thank you for getting me home on time. Sadly, as I told my friend Desiree, the head witch was still pissed off. I would still be a cat if it weren't for her spellcasting!"
"Geez, I feel for you, Twiggy. Considering I know you're allergic to cats!" giggled Ceci amusingly.
"Hello, Spirit! Nice to see you. How come you didn't tell me you had a little brother who was half-ghost? I thought we were on more friendly terms!"
"Yes, Phantom. Why didn't you tell any of us about your older sister being half-ghost?" questioned the otherwordly genie.
"Sadly, it's because we're from different realities. Which is why we're here. My older sister has to take Twiggy back to her reality by order of the Ancients," Danny clarified.
"You don't plan to get me there in that magic pen, do you?" Twiggy asked Ceci, who shook her head.
"Nope, not this time, Twiggy. However, we need to get back home. Since all of us are on limited time."
"Well, I'm sorry we've to part ways, Des. But, hopefully, we'll meet again."
"I desire that as well. I never had this much fun before!"
Ceci leaned into her brother. "Is it just me, or is it like all the ghosts are making friends with each other?"
"I see that pattern too. But, again, maybe the Ancients can come up with something once the crisis is over." The siblings looked up in time to see the mystical ghosts embrace.
Then Twiggy went with Ceci's group back home. Desiree looked only miserable. "You sure are fortunate to have someone like your sister in your life, Phantom. But unfortunately, not all of us are so lucky to find someone who cares about us! Well, I'll see you all later. I'm afraid you won't see me for some time. I'll be too busy grieving over the loss of a kindred spirit. So have a good day," as she went away.
"Well, that was easy! A bit too easy! Still, I'm starting to feel bad. First Boxy, and now Desiree found a true friend. Only to be separated from them. That ain't right!" Danny proclaimed sadly.
"Yes, it'd be nice if we could all visit each other without it threatening the end of the multiverse, Danny. However, Clockwork and his friends gave us a job to do. Either way? We need to do some serious cramming, or we'll get detention if we don't pass Lancer's test tomorrow!" Sam reminded him. So the three friends returned to Danny's house, hoping to cram enough into their brains to pass Lancer's test in the morning.
