One moment of anger
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma annoying her mother so much that she ends up being spanked hard. This affects her deeply knowing what her childhood was like. Later on Snow and Charming realise what they have done to their daughter when they find her crying hysterically. Quite a challenge this one as I'm not really one for adults smacking their children let alone their adult children lol.
"For heaven's sake Emma, how many times!" Snow yelled, completely exasperated. Emma had been told until her small head injury had healed (she'd slipped on a patch of ice and banged it against a wall) she wasn't to use any magic. However, Emma wasn't listening to this rule at all. She'd gotten so used to doing everything with her powers it was hard going back. The only issue was right now when she used them at best she threw up and at worst she collapsed. This particular episode had been somewhere in between and she'd taken a slight dizzy turn. Unfortunately her mom had been right there to see it. Not that there was any way Snow wouldn't see it. She'd been watching Emma like a hawk since the accident. Even more so when Emma seemed to be refusing to stop using her powers.
"I'm fine." Emma snapped. Trying to loosen herself from her mom's grasp. "Let me go!"
"No Emma, if I let you go just now you'll just fall over." Snow sighed, frustrated.
"I can look after myself! Stop acting like you even care! You have your baby now. You can drop the act." Snow saw red. She let go of Emma with one arm and used it to give her backside one hard swat. "What the actual Hell!" Emma yelled, completely shocked. Snow marched her over to the couch and sat her down.
"Don't you dare say I don't care about you!" Snow shouted, towering over Emma. "Emma you are my daughter. Along with your brother you are and always will be my first priority. When I see you hurting yourself right now by using your powers of course it makes me mad. I don't like seeing you hurt-"
"Seeing me hurt?" Emma piped up. "You- you just hit me." Emma stated.
"Well yeah." Snow said, suddenly feeling bad. "Emma, you said I didn't care about you. That you weren't my baby. Emma, you will always be my baby. I felt like you needed reminded of that…"
"They always started off nice." Emma said quietly. "Then they changed. They'd get mean…they'd yell…they'd hit me."
"Emma, who's they?" Snow asked her.
"My foster parents." Emma answered. "The people who made me call them mom and dad." Emma looked up at Snow. "It seems you're no different." The adrenalin bursting through her veins seemed to help Emma bolt off the couch without falling over. She quickly made it up the stairs and locked her bedroom door behind her before Snow could come in.
"Emma?" Snow called. "Emma, I'm sorry. Please let me in…" There was just silence. "Well, when you want to come out I'll be downstairs ok?" Snow told her, reluctantly going back to the living room. But she couldn't leave Neal on his own. She sat on the couch and dropped her head into her hands.
"Oh Neal," She sighed. "I've made quite a mess haven't I?"
A couple of hours passed before Charming came back home. By this point Emma still hadn't come home and Snow was still sitting looking heartbroken on the couch.
"Snow, what's wrong?" Charming asked, coming over and sitting beside her. "Has something happened?" Snow nodded.
"Emma…she…she said I didn't care about her. That she wasn't my baby now that Neal was here. That is was all an act. I saw red, Charming. After everything we've been through with her since she hit her head. I hit her." Snow admitted.
"Ah." Charming said, understanding now the absence of Emma and why his wife looked so ashamed. He got up and took his wife's hand, pulling her with him. "Come on," He said gently. "We're going to sort this."
As they got closer to her room, the crying became louder. With every step Snow's heart broke a little more. She'd been the one to make her daughter cry. Charming knocked on the door. Though he wasn't sure if Emma would hear over her own hysterical sobbing. But she did.
"Go away!" She yelled. "I don't want to see anyone!"
"Emma," Charming said calmly. "Open the door please."
"No!"
"Emma. There is a spare key to every door in this house. If you don't open it I will." He responded calmly. There was a small pause before Emma got up and opened the door. Snow looked at her and had never felt so ashamed. Emma's face was bright red, her eyes puffy. Snow couldn't stand and watch. She moved past her husband and pulled Emma into a massive hug.
"I'm so sorry." She whispered into Emma's ear. "I just didn't think. I didn't mean to hurt you Emma. I never would…" Snow rambled. Emma just nodded against her mom's shoulder.
"I know." She whispered. "It just brought back a lot of bad memories." Snow pulled out of the hug and carefully wiped Emma's eyes.
"And one day I hope to hear about those memories, so that I never repeat this mistake." Snow said. "But not tonight. Tonight we're going to order pizza and watch a movie of Emma's choice. Sound good?" Snow asked her daughter. Emma gave a weak smile. "Sounds great."
