The saviour's saviour
AmTheDreamer asked for a oneshot of Emma and a very worried Charming having a conversation after they're finally alone at home after they saved Emma from the ice cave.
"Here you go." Charming said handing Emma the mug of hot cocoa.
"Thanks." Emma sniffled back. "You don't need to keep looking at me like that you know." She added, smiling at him.
"Like what?" Charming asked, confused.
"Like I might break or something. I'm fine really." Emma told him. Now Charming understood. But the truth was he really was worried if he left her alone something might happen. Her temperature could suddenly drop and what if he wasn't there? He sighed, squeezing Emma's hand.
"But what if you do?" He said sincerely. "Emma, when you were in that cave…I have never been so frightened. Even when Zelena had your brother. I knew I could get him back. But I didn't know if I could talk Elsa down. If anything had happened to you I would have never forgiven myself…"
"Hey." Emma said softly. "It's alright. You did talk her down. You saved my life dad. I can never thank you enough." Charming gently moved some loose hair to behind Emma's ear.
"Emma, you never have to thank me for saving you. It's my job, remember? I'm just sorry I never got the chance to save you a whole lot sooner." He sighed. "But from now on, you can be the saviour of Storybrooke or the Enchanted Forest, but I'll always be there to save you. Ok?" Emma smiled.
"Ok." She agreed. Charming sat beside her on the couch and moved her feet so they were up in his lap.
"Get some rest." He told her. "I'll be right here if you need anything." Emma settled back against the pillow, pulling the blanket further around her.
"Ok." She mumbled sleepily. "Night dad."
"Night angel." Charming said quietly. And he meant it. Whenever Emma needed him he'd drop everything and be there. Every single time.
