Daddy/daughter date night

bluerose921 asked for a oneshot of Charming and Emma having a daddy/daughter day.

Charming pulled Emma's seat back for her earning him a slight eye roll.

"What?" He asked innocently. "If we're going to have a daddy/daughter date night then I'm going to do things properly." He stated. Emma raised an eyebrow.

"Daddy?" She asked. "When have I ever called you that?" Charming shrugged.

"Humour me." He said, giving his charming smile. He motioned to the seat. Emma sighed and sat down before Charming pushed her chair in. Charming then took his seat opposite Emma. When Emma asked him what he wanted for his birthday there was only one thing he could think of, time. Time to spend with his daughter when they weren't after some villain or another. Just where they could get to know each other a little better. "No arguing, this is on me." He said seriously.

"Nu uh, this is your birthday treat. You're not allowed to pay for your own birthday dad…"

"It's my birthday so my rules. And I wish to spoil my daughter. I think after three decades of waiting it's about time I had the chance. So, pick your starter and it's not allowed to be any of the three cheapest things." He told her. Emma sighed.

"At least let me pay my half." She bargained. Charming shook his head.

"No deal. Today is about me getting to spoil my daughter. If you don't like it, tough." He said jokingly. Emma sighed, picking up her menu.

"I have a feeling I don't have a choice." She grumbled. Charming chuckled.

"You got it princess." He told her, picking up his own menu.

Together they ordered their food, laughing that they'd both picked the same dessert and that Charming was positive Snow would have picked the same starter as Emma.

"So you're a chocolate person too huh?" He asked her.

"Of course. Why would I want fruit for my dessert when chocolate is an option?" She questioned. Charming grinned at her.

"That's my girl!" Charming praised her, as their starters were brought out.

Charming had never felt so close to Emma. The evening was just so relaxed. There was no need for them to focus on fighting some new threat to the town or having to deal with emotional issues. They could just talk. He found that Emma was more relaxed she was happier to open up. She told him little bits about her childhood, the good times. And in return he shared stories from his past. Right up until moments Snow was pregnant with her.

"It's true." He chuckled as they tucked into dessert. "Every night, three am on the dot and you'd start kicking. Your mom started waking up at five to expecting it. Only thing that soothed you was singing." Charming told her. "Didn't matter which song or if it was your mother or I singing, as long as someone sang and rubbed circles on your mom's belly you were happy."

"Boy was I demanding." Emma said, clearly a little embarrassed.

"Well of course, you're a princess. Nothing but the best for you. And if singing at three am is what you wanted, singing at three am is what you got. Sometimes your mom and I would bicker over who got to do it. We'd compromise and one of us would sing and one of us would rub the circles." He explained. Emma went a slightly darker shade of pink, and Charming decided that was enough emotion for one night. They finished up their desserts and Charming paid their bill. He helped Emma into her jacket and offered her his arm to escort her out. In a good mood, Emma accepted his arm and even allowed him to open the car door without an eye roll. "Thank you for a lovely evening." He said as he started the engine.

"No, thank you. I'm still not happy you wouldn't let me pay for your birthday."

"Well deal." Charming said, grinning again. "You know your mom will want the same for her birthday now, right?" Emma nodded.

"I'd figured." She sighed. Oh well. Emma thought to herself. I suppose there are certainly worse gift ideas than a free dinner.
