Skate

Fefisgbf13 asked for a oneshot of Elsa making an ice rink in Storybrooke and the Charmings going along. I apologise to those amongst you who hate Christmas themed things at this time of year but in my defence not a big Halloween or bonfire night person and we don't get Thanksgiving so for me it's the next holiday coming! Well, unless you count my birthday but feeling rather old I'd rather not lol. Anyway, on with the chapter.

Now that things had finally settled down, there was time for everyone to have fun. And just in time for Christmas. Storybrooke had been more rainy than snowy this winter leaving everyone in more of a gloomy than festive mood. Fortunately, the new edition of a woman with magical ice powers to the town did come in rather handy at times like this. Seeing that the residents of Storybrooke were in need of a little cheer, Elsa gave them all a surprise by freezing over the lake running through the forest for everyone to skate on. Snow and Charming decided it would a nice outing for them to take as a family. So they left Neal with Red and took Henry and Emma along for some ice skating. The former far more enthusiastic than the latter.

"Oh come on, it'll be fun!" Snow tried to encourage her as they put on some boots Regina had created with her magic for everyone.

"I've had my fill of ice for one winter…" Emma grumbled, reluctantly switching her shoes. Charming gently squeezed her shoulder.

"I can't see you getting trapped in any more ice caves. Your mom's right. It'll be good fun." Emma sighed, getting to her feet.

"Well, let's get this over with. Ready kid?" Henry nodded happily beside her, getting to his own feet as Snow and Charming followed suit. Emma led the way to the ice. The others not able to help letting out some sniggers at the way she walked in her skates. Emma turned and glared at them all. "I can still refuse to do it, you know." She warned.

"Oh, don't be like that." Snow said, coming forward and taking Emma's arm. "It's all in good fun. I bet we'll all fall over at least a few times…"

Snow was almost right. Expect she didn't fall over once. She spun and twirled her way elegantly around the lake like she'd done it a hundred times before. Even whilst spending most of the time gripping trees around the edge of the lake Charming and Henry managed to fall an awful lot. And Emma… if she got two skates in she was doing good. After falling down for what felt like the five hundredth time Snow decided to give her a little help. She skated over and carefully took Emma's gloved hands and slowly skated with there.

"Nice and slow. First your right foot, now your left. That's it! You're getting it!" Snow said proudly, still clinging to Emma. She looked up from Emma's feet when she heard Emma laughing. "What? What's so funny?" She asked.

"Well, you may have missed my first steps. But you're making a pretty good job of being around for my first skate." She said with a grin. Snow smiled back. She hadn't thought of it like that. She looked over at Charming who was smiling back proudly. It was nice to know they could still have these little moments.
