The dinner party
acharmingfamily asked for a oneshot of Snow and Charming setting up a quadruple date. Sorry about the wait!
"Are you sure we can't cancel?" Charming tried one last time.
"Positive." Snow told him, giving him a look. Snow had arranged a dinner party with Rumple, Belle, Regina, Robin, Emma and Killian. The latter being the couple David was most worried about. He sighed, putting his head in his hands.
"But all six of them will be all over each other." He complained. "Especially him." He grumbled, folding his arms across his chest and slouching down the chair. Snow laughed as she started putting cutlery out.
"I thought you liked Killian?" She asked.
"I do, but I like him more when he hasn't got his hands all over my daughter." He responded. Snow rolled her eyes. No matter what Killian did for Emma, Charming would never quite be able to stand any of the physical side of their relationship, no matter how small.
"So blank them out. Talk to the others." Snow suggested. Charming shuddered.
"Not much better. Rumple and Belle are literally in their honeymoon stage so are slightly sickening. And I'm sure Regina still wants to kill us so I'm a little wary." He told his wife. Snow sighed. He was going to sulk all night (and possibly attack Killian) if she didn't pull out the big guns. She finished setting the cutlery and came over and sat on his lap.
"It's not often we get a night without Neal." She pointed out. "We should enjoy it…even when the others leave…" This got his attention. She smiled, leaning forward and kissing his nose. "But only if you start smiling." Charming chuckled, wrapping his arms tightly around her.
"Well if that's what I'm being promised I'm sure I'll manage…" He leaned in to kiss her more passionately when the doorbell rang. Snow immediately got off his lap to answer. Charming sighed, working on keeping up the smile.
It was Rumple and Belle first, followed shortly by Robin and Regina with Emma and Killian bringing up the rear.
"Sorry Emma, I'll bring you a chair from the kitchen." Snow said, not realising there would be a lack of space in the living room.
"Don't worry love," Killian said with a cheeky grin. "She can just sit right here with me." He said, patting his lap. Charming gave Snow one of the looks that she just knew what it meant- leading to one of their famous eye conversations.
Come on Snow!
I was on your lap not ten minutes ago…
That's different! You're my wife!
And she's his girlfriend…
My daughter first.
Charming, she's a human being. It's not finder's keepers.
Charming glanced over to the pair again and could seem Emma's cheeks were clearly pinker than normal. He saw Snow had looked too.
Ha. Can't deny she's not uncomfortable.
Yes. Probably because of us…
"It's quite alright Killian. I think Emma will be more comfortable on her own seat…"
"Along with the rest of us." Regina mumbled. Charming smirked. His opinion on Regina had gone up slightly.
The evening went on with only minimal awkwardness. It became apparent that before Killian had arrived this evening, he'd given himself some Dutch courage…which backfired. He said to Rumple that at least his new wife was safe from him. He told Robin to regularly check for his own heartbeat and once again told Snow that Emma obviously got her good looks from her mother.
"Ok…" Emma said, getting up from the table. "This has been sufficiently awkward for all. I think Killian and I will be leaving now…"
"Nonsense!" Killian replied merrily. "We have so much catching up to do with everyone…"
"No, really we don't." Emma insisted.
"I agree." David said, getting up. "I'll get the door…"
"Fine, fine...I suppose we can have more fun at home anyway…"
"Well there was a mental image none of us needed." Regina said closing her eyes as if trying to rid herself of the image. Belle, Rumple and Robin were all staring at their plates trying to vanish into the floor.
"On second thoughts, Killian I'll drive you home. Emma can stay here for the night."
"Dad, come on. We live together. It's rather obvious we-"
"No!" Shouted most people round the table. Emma pressed her lips together, slowly sitting back down. It looked like she wasn't leaving tonight.
Charming (slightly rougher than was necessary) yanked Killian up and walked with him out to the truck. As he passed Snow he gave her another look.
Never again.
…Agreed.
