TWs: Near-violence, mind manipulation (literally every chapter), and malnourishment. Stay safe :)
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Yan asked as he watched his partner take apart a drone.
"Nope." You responded as he held two wires close to each other.
"You, don't-"
"Ack!" The blonde yelped as the wires shocked him. He let them go as he held his fingers against his body in a fetal position on the ground.
"I told you." Yan crossed his arms.
You whimpered, shakily taking some components from the drone's core, "You could help me, y'know."
"It's not in the paperwork I signed to dig through garbage."
"You signed paperwork?"
"You didn't?"
The blonde huffed, standing up as he made sure his backpack was secure, "We're good to go."
"Mmh, not yet." Yan shook his head, his head tilting to the side.
"Wha-"
The Russian covered his mouth, moving them over to a nearby alleyway. He gestured for You to stay quiet as he removed his hand, pointing down the street.
"I know I saw them somewhere." A German-accented voice spoke from the distance.
"Maybe you're hearing things." Another voice piped, "Wouldn't be the first time."
"Oi!"
There was a laugh after, followed by some hurried footsteps. You could see them more clearly, and his eyes widened.
"That wasn't funny." Diwi frowned.
"Aw, lighten up, Goo." Laurel rolled her eyes, "I'm sure what you saw was very much real."
Diwi reached for something, acting quickly. Laurel was quicker, though.
She stopped the incoming crowbar with her bare hands.
"Hurting a woman?" The bluette's brows raised, "You should know better, Diwi."
She lifted and twisted the crowbar out of Diwi's hands. The blonde German fell to the ground as he lost his grip on the tool.
Holding the crowbar in both her hands, Laurel started to bend it, curling it until the two ends met.
"Won't be needing this anymore." She smiled as she tossed it. She turned to Diwi, "Come on, Goo, we need to do a patrol report."
Diwi sighed, getting up, "Fine."
Laurel took a moment to look around the area, scanning it with her vision. She hummed before turning around, leaving the site where the other two were hidden away.
"Did I see that right?" You asked.
"Unless we're both somehow high right now, I'm pretty sure I saw that blue-haired woman bend a fucking crowbar," Yan spoke.
"Mhm." His companion nodded.
"We should tell Tord about that."
"Ah, I need a few more parts, though." You griped.
"What are you making where it requires robot leftovers?" Yan quirked an eyebrow.
You grinned, a mischievous look showing in his eyes, "It's a secret- all I need now is a clean circuit board."
"Oh, great, we're going to be out here for hours." Yan rolled his eyes.
"So, what memories do you recall?" Dr. John followed Edd around the lab's sewers.
"I don't know, dude. Depends on what 'memories' you're talking about." Edd shrugged his shoulders, walking into the mess hall.
"Uh, like... memories with your friends, Matt or Tom." John tapped his pencil against his notepad.
Edd stopped in place, "Matt, and... Tom?"
"Yes." John nodded, "Unless I got their names wrong..."
"They-" The taller huffed, "They aren't my friends."
"Okay, good." John wrote it down, looking up when he realized what he said, "I mean- oh no, how terrible!"
"It's whatever; they made their decision."
"Decision?" John raised an eyebrow, "You mean, the decision to stay with-?"
"Don't even say his name." Edd scowled, turning to face him, "That bastard ruined my life."
'Aren't you still engaged to him...?' John thought, 'Eh, as long as he doesn't remember.'
Edd turned back to the cupboards, prowling through them, "Do you have anything not radioactive?"
"Oh, that's for-" John looked up just in time to see the taller take a bite out of a G-Apple, "the King and Laurel."
Edd hummed, shrugging, "Not bad."
John's face scrunched up, "H-How did you...? I'm guessing you have some sort of radioactivity in your system; otherwise, you would be vomiting on the floor or dead right now."
"Something like that."
"Intriguing... ah, I should be taking notes on my laptop." John frowned, "You stay right there!"
The scientist left the room to get his computer, leaving Edd and the other person they didn't notice.
"Finally, he's gone." Edd breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hey." A voice spoke.
Juniper met emerald eyes.
"Oh, uh, Katya, right?" Edd raised an eyebrow.
Katya's eyes widened, "Y-Yeah, that's me."
"Nice to meet you." The brunette tipped his head.
The blonde hummed, her voice weak as she smiled, "Same to you."
Edd glanced at the digital clock on the wall, "I gotta go. I don't want to run into that annoying scientist again."
Katya only nodded, watching as her friend left. Her smile fell, and so did a few tears. She quickly wiped them away, knowing there was a camera.
Her friend didn't remember her.
Perhaps it was for the best. Katya didn't want him to hate her.
'I need to tell Tord...' Katya bit her lip.
She did know of one way she could send a message, but it was going to be risky.
The blonde braced herself, getting up from her seat, 'I can do this...'
"Wait, I recognize this place..." Bing realized.
The drone in his arms made an inquisitive sound.
"No, I haven't been going in circles!" He frowned, "Unless you said something else..."
Primis made a buzzing noise.
"Woah, I actually spoke drone!" Bing gushed, "Hah, I knew I could speak to robots- and they all called me crazy."
Primis made a low whistling sound, sort of like a sigh.
"Hey, I know this place." Bing stopped, glancing around. The director peered over at the park entrance, the iron and cobblestone fence in shambles, "The hideout shouldn't be too far away now!"
The brunette grinned, finally feeling some weight lift off his shoulders. Of course, he knew it would come back. After all, his partner and in-law were taken.
"I hope they're alright..." Bing muttered. Primis let out a questioning noise, yet the director said nothing.
It had been thirty minutes later when Bing realized he had finally made it to the bunker. His shoulders shagged as he walked towards the entrance, hidden within the abandoned building's wall. He pulled the door open and climbed down the stairs.
He got to the bottom of the stairwell, his heart and body feeling heavy. He sighed as he leaned against the wall, sitting on the steps. He placed Primis on the step next to him. He made his spot on the stairs, deciding to close his eyes for a few minutes.
Or a few hours.
Primis scanned the area, seeing a few heat signatures in various places through the walls. It noticed someone was coming closer. Primis pretended to be shut off, dimming its red scanner.
A guy with a white cap walked into the equipment room, being notified of the bunker door being opened, and went to check it out.
His eyes widened as he saw a very malnourished and ghostly Bing passed out on the steps.
"Holy shit-" Clay got out his walkie-talkie, pressing the call button as he went to check Bing's vitals, "I need medical in bunker entrance, bottom of the stairs! Bring water as well."
The transmission rang throughout the Control Room as everyone looked up with varied expressions.
"Well, that's not worrying at all," Tom spoke from where he was leaning against the entrance.
