TWs: Malnourishment, a bit of lying, mentions of losing everything, and manipulation (every time). Stay safe :)
"Has he eaten anything?" Matt asked as Pat exited the infirmary.
The shorter shook his head, "He has no problem with drinking water, though I'm afraid if he doesn't eat soon, we'll have to end up feeding him through a tube."
Matt nodded, knowing full well that his uncle would despise that, "I can try to get him to eat."
Pat hummed, "Good luck."
The brunette walked away, and the ginger hesitated at the door. He bit his lip as he noticed his hand was shaking. He had nothing to worry about; his uncle was okay.
Still, he could feel his stomach reeling as he opened the door.
There, on one of the beds, lay his uncle, eyes half-lidded and blinking slow, face and body slim. Slowly, Bing's shamrock eyes landed on him.
"Uncle...?" Matt spoke quietly, being careful of his every move.
Bing sighed, opening his arms, "Come here."
Matt gave no haste as he staggered forward, clutching onto his uncle like a lifeline. The tears came slowly as Matt tried to hide the fact he was crying.
Bing adjusted his hold on his nephew, trying to get the younger to relax. He managed to get the ginger to lie beside him, yet his body was still tense. The director let it go, for now, deciding to mess with his hair.
'Wonder if they've taken Primis to the maintenance room...' Bing thought, 'Hope it's alright there.'
He heard a few sniffles from Matt, "Sorry."
"Don't apologize, Matt." Bing spoke, "I missed you too."
Matt nodded, resting his head on his uncle's chest, listening to the periodic beating of his heart. Listening to the hearts of his loved ones calmed him significantly, more than they knew. He was content knowing they were safe and alive.
"You're looking paler than usual, Matt," Bing noted.
Matt hummed, "Steadily running out of blood supply... I've been trying to preserve it the best I can."
"Oh."
"Pat says you haven't eaten."
Bing huffed, "Is this going to turn into a lecture?"
"I thought you were old enough to take care of yourself, Uncle B." Matt puffed his cheeks, "You can't rely on Larry forever."
Matt heard his uncle's heartbeat shift tones. It was deep, heavy, and sounded like a bass drum.
Matt tipped his head down in shame, "I didn't mean to..."
"It's fine." The director smiled, "Honest."
He ruffled the ginger's hair, making Matt groan in annoyance as he swatted his uncle's hands.
Katya moved swiftly through the hall, making her way towards the Division room. She had overheard the scientist and the King talk about it, something about how someone had managed to send a message via cell towers. She found it fascinating, so there she was, standing in front of a door labeled 'Division.'
She took notice of the keypad next to it. She frowned, 'Of course...'
The blonde perked up upon hearing footsteps nearby. Katya glanced around, finding no hiding places in the barren hallway, so she decided to act natural by standing post by the door.
Dr. John stopped in his footsteps upon spotting Katya, "Uh, hello... why are you here, away from your post?"
"The King assigned me a new one." Katya shrugged.
John looked at her, humming, "If you say so. If you'll excuse me, I have work that needs to be done."
As the doctor tapped the code into the keypad, Katya spoke, "You're a scientist, right?"
"Yes... that's literally my title, Mad Scientist and all." John quirked an eyebrow, "Why do you ask?"
Katya bit her lip, averting her eyes to the Division room, "Say... if you wanted to send a message to someone, how would you go about doing it?"
"Message?" John pressed the last digit on the keypad, "It's quite simple, actually."
The door opened, the doctor gesturing for the other to go in, and Katya wasn't one to turn down an opportunity.
"It doesn't matter if a drone has an antenna or not, just as long as they're hooked up to the Spire." John started.
"Spire?" Katya uttered.
"Ever notice that big cell tower that appeared on top of Buckingham Palace one day? We put it there so that we could control every radio station, television, broadcasting site, you name it, in all of England." John explained, "Every drone with an antenna follows orders from it."
"What if it was shut off?" Katya questioned.
"The Spire can only be shut down from the lab."
"So... here?"
"Oh, no, this is the Mayfair lab; the other lab is in Central London." John spoke, "You can see the London Eye across the Thames. It's a great view."
'That's where Kim and them are.' Katya smiled, "I bet, so how would I- someone go about sending something?"
"Well, first, you would look at availability." John tapped a few buttons, and a map appeared on the screen, "This is a map of England, and those green dots are the drones that are active at the moment."
Katya gazed at them all, seeing that there were more than a hundred out there patrolling.
"I'm guessing they don't want to raid their friend, so we're going to choose just one." John typed in a number, "All of the drones are labeled with numbers. Then, you would insert the name and the message. The drone would be put off offense mode and into defense instead in order to find the person you're looking for."
"Huh, very interesting," Katya spoke.
"Isn't it?" John grinned.
Bzzt... Bzzt... Bzzt...
John's phone vibrated in his lab coat pocket. He pulled it out, analyzing the message.
"Ah, uhm- I have to go do something." He frowned as he turned and walked out of the room.
Katya stared after him momentarily before peering at the computer before her. She sat down in the chair, cracking her knuckles as she prepared herself.
"Let's do this."
"Ah, there you are, doctor!" Hellucard grinned as he sat on his makeshift throne of leftover drones and robotic parts.
"Yes, you did call me in here, sir," John spoke, glancing around the room at all the loose wiring and electrical hazards. He remembered when it used to be much neater.
"Right, I did, I did..." Hellucard nodded, "Well, I just wanted to have a discussion with you about something."
"What is it?"
"The drone that did this to me," He gestured to his face, metallic without paint, "Every drone holds classified information- our information. They're all connected to the Spire, which is connected to the lab, which you made and update frequently."
John stared at him in bewilderment, "What...?"
"So, if the Rebellion gets a hold of that drone, it's only a matter of time before they know our plans!" Hellucard huffed, standing up from his throne of scraps, "I need you to delete everything."
"E-Everything?" John stuttered, adjusting his glasses.
"Everything." The King grunted, "Every file, every folder, even every piece of document you have on paper; get rid of it."
John couldn't speak as the King shoved him out of the room. He felt his heart aching in his chest. His work was his prized possessions. Everything he made, he made out of ambition, dedication, and morbid curiosity.
He wasn't going to delete everything he worked towards, was he?
John stopped in his tracks as he realized something.
Katya. She was still in the Division room.
The doctor rushed over to the room, quickly typing in the code.
He saw no one in the room.
John moved to the computer, typing in a few keys. A screen popped up on the computer.
LOGS
John ordered them by sent recently, his stomach flipping upside down once he saw the latest one.
