Emma's comfort

A guest asked for a oneshot of Snow finding Emma asleep with her baby blanket leading to a mother/daughter moment.

fanofouat, check out chapter 127: Dangerous thoughts. That should cover your request. :)

The bad first. It seemed a few people didn't like the previous chapter. To clarify, I didn't mean Snow knew those things from personal experience, just from girl talk she would have heard. Sorry if it didn't come across like that to you!

Now the good, wow. Yet another milestone: 150 chapters. Again, can't thank you all enough for the continued support.

Snow knew Emma was tired, but not quite this tired. It had been a long week for her daughter at the station. The Ice Queen was on the loose and Emma was extra determined to capture her. What with Charming having to juggle helping with the baby (especially since Snow took on the role as mayor) Emma was left alone a lot more. She didn't complain once, but Snow knew she probably wasn't sleeping well. But she was still surprised to come home and find her daughter fast asleep on the couch- her baby blanket clutched tightly in her fist. It warmed Snow's heart to see it. At least one thing Snow was able to give her gave Emma some comfort. Snow glanced at the clock and frowned. It was half six, if Emma slept too late she'd never be able to sleep tonight and get herself into a vicious cycle. Snow went over to the couch and crouched beside her, gently shaking her shoulder.

"Emma," She whispered gently. "Emma, you need to wake up now." Slowly, Emma blinked her eyes open. She first looked up to see her mom smiling down at her. Then down to the soft thing in her hand. Snow noticed her going slightly pink. "Don't get embarrassed." Snow told her. "I think it's sweet. Don't worry, I won't mention it to anyone."

"Thanks." Emma mumbled, clearly still embarrassed. "I knew I needed to sleep, but I couldn't get my mind to shut off…this just helps." Emma explained. Snow gently reached out and ran her thumb along Emma's cheek.

"You don't need to explain yourself to me. If your blanket gives you the comfort you need to sleep then I'm glad you have it. I just don't want you oversleeping and not being able to sleep tonight. I'm not sure I can coax you to sleep with lullabies and a bottle." Snow teased. Emma laughed awkwardly.

"No. Don't think that would work. Thanks for waking me up." Emma said, sitting up and stretching. "I'd best get back to the station for an hour or two and get a little more work done…"

"Stop." Snow halted her daughter from moving. "Take the rest of the night off. You're working far too hard. You'll be able to get much more work done tomorrow if you're well rested. Tonight, let me take care of you." Emma looked up at her mother, still not quite used to the unconditional love her eyes held whenever she looked at her. Slowly, Emma sat back against the couch. Snow smiled at her. "I'll get some dinner on. I'm thinking mac and cheese." Emma grinned back at her.

"Sounds perfect. Thanks mom."

"Anytime honey." Snow replied. Snow took a moment to think how far their relationship had come. Emma was beginning to accept her and Charming as her parents. Nothing could thrill them more.
