Extreme tantrum

A guest asked for a oneshot of little Emma having a temper tantrum leading to a time out. She just gets worse and her parents have to work out what to do.

Snow could hear the furious screams from two floors down. She would recognise those screams anywhere. Somewhere her daughter was having one heck of a temper tantrum. She excused herself from the discussion with the palace chef and briskly followed the sound of the screams (which everyone else seemed to be politely ignoring). She sourced the screams to Emma's nursery, where she found Emma and her father. Charming seemed to be losing the will to live.

"What is going on?" Snow yelled, barely above the sound of Emma's screams.

"She kicked me." Charming called back. "And is refusing to go into timeout. I know she's upset we're leaving tomorrow but that doesn't excuse kicking me." Charming told her. Snow and Charming were having to go away for a weekend to the kingdom of Royaume Étranger for an important meeting. There had been more sightings of King George's men recently so it was decided Emma would be safer at home. Emma had not taken the news of her parents leaving for the weekend well and had basically been in a foul mood ever since hearing about it.

"Emma." Snow said firmly, going over to where her young daughter was in the midst of her tantrum. "Calm down."

"NO!" Emma screamed back.

"Yes, Emma. You will not yell at me and your daddy was right for putting you into timeout for kicking him. We do not kick people do we?"

"But you're leaving me!" Emma wailed. "You're both leaving me!"

"Emma," Charming said, coming over and crouching beside her. "We're not leaving you. We're only going to be gone for two sleeps. I know you're upset about it but that doesn't mean you can kick daddy."

"I- I- I didn't mean to!" Emma wailed.

"Emma, you did mean to kick me. What you mean is you're very sorry about it. So you're going to sit in timeout for five minutes and then you're going to say you're sorry and then we can all have a lovely day together, ok?"

"Ok." Emma sniffed back. She eventually was able to complete her timeout before apologising to her daddy and collapsing into his arms in floods of tears.

"Hey," He said softly, bouncing her slightly. "It's ok. You've said you're sorry, it's all forgotten now. Don't worry angel. Mommy and daddy would never leave their baby girl. It's only a couple of days. And you'll get to spend it with your Auntie Red. You're going to have lots of fun."

"But what if I want mommy and daddy?" She whimpered. Snow began to gently rub soothing circles on her little girls back.

"It'll be over very soon baby. Then when we come back we'll make sure to spend lots of time with you, ok?"

"Ok." Emma agreed. She still wasn't happy about it. But at least she knew they would be back soon.
