Watch out for that!...

JustInDreams asked for a oneshot of Emma teaching Hook to drive in David's truck. Before you begin to read I know a fair few of you will be American, I am not. I have very little knowledge of how automatics work and we drive on the left so for the purposes of this chapter so does Emma :P

"Is this really necessary lass?" Hook complained again. "You can do it, why do I have to?" Emma rolled her eyes, placing the key in the ignition for him.

"Because there may come a day when I won't be there to drive for you, say I've broken my leg or something so you'll have to be able to do it by yourself. What if I need you to drive Henry to school?" Hook frowned. Emma knew how to play dirty, Henry was very much one of Hook's soft spots.

"Fine." He gave up. "But if we crash I blame you."

"That's why we're in my dad's car and not mine." Emma admitted. "But I'm sure you won't crash. So, you've got your three pedals down there. On the left is the clutch, which you'll use to change gears. In the middle is the break and on the right is the accelerator…" Emma explained the rest of the car and let Hook test out the pedals. When he felt ready, he tried to move…and stalled. "It's ok." Emma assured him. "That's easy to do. Just try again." On the second attempt, Hook did get the car moving, and was so surprised he promptly went firing off towards a lamp post.

"Hook!" Emma called out, grabbing the wheel. But despite her best efforts the wing mirror still collided with the post.

"…Your father's going to kill me, isn't he?" Hook mumbled. Emma nodded.

"Oh yeah. Come on. We're best facing the music now." Emma said, getting out of the car. Killian got out himself, slumping behind Emma all the way to her parents' house.

"Dad?" She called, coming in. "You home?"

"Yeah." Charming called back from the apartment. "You alright?" Killian couldn't believe he was hiding behind Emma. It was a new low. But Charming couldn't throw something at him if Emma was his shield.

"Well yeah…" Emma said sheepishly, making her way into the room with Hook trailing behind her. "But your truck isn't."

"My truck?" Charming asked, alarmed. "What happened to my truck?"

"I was trying to teach Killian to drive. He may have drove into a lamp post. Don't worry, it's just the wing mirror. We'll pay for the damage…"

"How did you even get in? I have my keys right…" Charming stopped when he saw Emma dangling the keys from her hand. "Here. How did you get those?" He sighed as Emma tossed them to him.

"I snuck them out of your jacket pocket when you were on the phone to mom." Emma admitted. Charming rubbed his temple.

"Like mother like daughter." He grumbled, thinking of his bandit of a wife. He looked up passed Emma to Hook. "I don't really care about the car, what I care about more is that Emma might have been hurt. And she's not so easily replaced. I accept this was probably Emma's idea so I'm not going to lose my head. But from now on I'll give you the lessons." Charming insisted. Hook failed to hide his grimace. "Seeing as it's my car that's on the firing line it seems only fair." He pointed out. Emma shrugged.

"Alright. Seems fair to me."

"What about what I think?" Hook interjected. "It's me learning to drive the blasted thing!"

"Yes, it is. And it doesn't really matter who's teaching you as long as you know. So sure, dad, say three on a Wednesday?" Charming nodded in agreement.

"I'll wear a helmet."
