Too good to be true

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma in foster care with the Snow Queen.

Emma sat in the far corner of the room, just watching her. There had to be something wrong, didn't there? No foster parent was a good person. Not that Emma had ever experienced. The first set had gave her away to make room for a brand new baby, and it didn't get any better from there. Not until now at least. But Emma was sure something was bound to go wrong at some point. She just seemed too good to be true.

"Emma?" Emma jumped, she'd been so focused on her thoughts that she hadn't noticed Sarah coming over to her. "Sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you. I just wanted to let you know that dinner was ready. I don't think you heard me the first time. You seemed away in your own little world."

"Oh, sorry." Emma said sheepishly, standing up to go to the dining room.

"Don't be sorry Emma. We create the most wonderful things in our own little worlds. It would be amazing if there was other worlds, wouldn't it?" She asked, giving Emma an amused smile. Emma smiled nervously in return, walking through to the dining room with Sarah close behind.

"Ok boys and girls, dinner is served! And remember, if you eat it all up there will always be plenty of ice cream for you." The children all cheered at this. In most homes dessert was a rare luxury. One of the many things that had Emma so convinced something bad was about to happen. Sarah seemed to have an endless flow of ice cream in any flavour you could think of. Emma couldn't think where she was keeping it all. They only had one freezer in the house that Emma had ever seen…
