Where it all really began

A guest asked for a oneshot of the Snow Queen teaching Emma magic.

"How do you do that?" The teen asked with awe. Emma loved watching her foster mother perform her magic tricks. Normally Emma could easily work out how the cheesy magicians who'd come to her foster homes did their tricks- but not Ingrid. Emma always got goosebumps when watching her, along with a chill down her spine. She put it down to the awesomeness of Ingrid's tricks.

Ingrid chuckled at the girl's look of amazement.

"A magician never reveals their secrets…but I think you might be a magician too." Emma's eyes widened in amazement.

"Really?" She asked. Ingrid nodded.

"Really. But don't tell the others. We don't want them being jealous do we?" Emma shook her head excitedly. Ingrid smiled. "That's my girl. Come on, I'll show you some card tricks to begin with." Emma couldn't help but feel a warm glow spread through her. Ingrid had just called Emma her girl. She'd never been someone's girl before. For the first time she felt like she had a proper home.

"Aaaand, this should be your card?" Emma said, unsure, pulling out the card after following Ingrid's instructions. The woman smiled proudly.

"Indeed it is." Emma beamed, Ingrid was proud of her. Ingrid reached out and gently stroked Emma's cheek. "I told you that you are a magician. I think you might be a very good one at that."

"You do?" Emma asked, her eyes sparkling. Ingrid nodded.

"I do. A little practise and I think you'll be very good. Just remember who started you off ok?" Emma nodded.

"Of course I will."

"Good girl. Off you go and get ready for dinner."

"Yes Ingrid." Emma said, putting down the cards and heading up to her room grinning from ear to ear. She was going to like it here.
