Never try and hide things
Alemigui asked for a oneshot of a teenaged Emma trying to hide a hickey from her parents.
Emma felt nervous going in for breakfast that morning. She pulled her scarf more smugly around her neck. This could all go horribly wrong and she could end up being grounded for a decade. But she didn't have any choice but to go in.
"Morning." She said, keeping her gaze away from both of her parents as she sat down at the grand dining table.
"Good morning honey, how did you…why are you wearing a scarf in the middle of summer?" Charming asked.
"I don't feel very well." Emma said, doing her best to make her voice sound as croaky as possible. Both her parents were now a little suspicious. She's sounded fine coming into the room and certainly didn't look ill. It was possible she was just overtired from the Ball the previous night, but Snow in particular thought she knew what was going on.
"Hmm. Well if you still feel sick by the end of the day we'll have Doc check you over. I'm going to go quickly let him know you might be seeing him later." Charming said, leaving the room. Once he was gone, Snow acted perfectly calmly sitting beside Emma. But before Emma could react Snow had whipped the scarf off of her. Snow gasped at the sight, she was right. A hickey.
"Mom!" Emma yelled, mortified. She reached for her scarf but Snow threw it away out of reach and firmly tilted Emma's chin up so she could examine the mark.
"When you told me you'd gotten distracted by a conversation with a waiter…this is what was happening, wasn't it?" Snow asked calmly. Emma tried not to answer. "Fine. Say nothing to me. You can just tell your father instead. Charming, come back!" Snow called. If Emma had just came to her in the first place Snow wouldn't have got Charming involved, but Emma had lied to them. Emma tried to protest, but it was too late. Charming came back into the room and saw the mark. He pointed at Emma.
"Is that a…" He trailed off, unable to finish. Snow of course had no intention of letting Charming get too angry with Emma. She was growing up after all and needed to be able to do so. But with Regina and George still out there Emma couldn't lie to them.
"Oh yeah." Snow replied. "That's exactly what it is." Emma pulled her face away from Snow, mortified.
"Ok, so I got a hickey. Big deal…"
"Yes big deal!" Charming shouted. "I don't like you being around boys you know that. That mark is just completely disrespectful and unfitting of a princess." Charming huffed. Of course he'd given plenty to the Queen but that was totally different…
"But more importantly Emma you lied to me. I understand that you're growing up and need to do a little experimenting. But that does not mean you can lie to us. Is that understood?"
"Alright, alright. Can I go now?" Emma asked, very much the moody teenager. Snow nodded.
"One last thing. Did you get his address?"
"Mom!"
"Snow!" Emma and Charming complained together. Snow chuckled.
"Emma, I'm annoyed that you lied to me, but I get that you're growing up now. I just want you to be happy…"
"Come on Snow you're meant to be on my side." Charming pouted. Snow rolled her eyes.
"On you go. I'll talk to him. But I meant it, no more lying to us, yes?" Emma nodded.
"I'm sorry. I won't." She said, getting up and kissing her mother's cheek before leaving the room. Charming was standing huffily in the corner. Snow couldn't help but laugh at him.
"Come on Charming. It's not that big." Snow reasoned. Her husband didn't look convinced. "I can see I'm not going to win this just now. Don't be grumpy at her. Just enjoy being number one while you still are." Snow said with a wink. Charming bit his tongue knowing Snow was just looking to wind him up. He had to think which guard was sneaky enough to be able to follow Emma around without getting caught. Because if they got caught by Emma, he got caught by Snow.
