Growing up fast
Sarah asked for a oneshot of an AU where Storybrooke is just a normal town and the Enchanted Forest was never real. It's Emma Nolan's first day of School.
"And smile!" David said proudly. The polaroid flashed and the picture came out, it would be ready for Charming to stick on the fridge soon. On it would be his wife smiling equally as proudly as him, their daughter sitting excitedly in her lap all ready in her school uniform. It was Emma's big first day.
"Ok, swap over!" Mary Margaret said. Emma scurried out of her mother's lap and over to her father. He handed the camera to his wife and picked his little girl up. She giggled happily.
"I can't believe you're starting school already!" He said. "You're growing up too fast- you both are." He looked over to where his three year old son was sitting playing with his cars. He was worried for Emma, as most parents were on the first day. But at least he knew his wife would be in the fourth grade class if anything ever happened to Emma, or Neal when he started school. Charming and Emma shared matching grins as Snow took yet another fridge worthy picture.
"Ok, now your brother. Come over here Neal. I want a nice picture of you and your sister." Neal toddled over happily and smiled cutely at the camera as Emma draped her arm over her little brother's shoulders. "Aww, I bet that's going to look adorable. I'm sure auntie Ruby and Granny will love to see that. Right, come on, we'd best be heading off!" Emma proudly grabbed her school bag and headed out to the car with her parents.
Once Neal and Emma were safely strapped into their seats, David suddenly leaned over and kissed Mary Margaret. She smiled into the sudden show of affection.
"What was that for?" She asked after he pulled away.
"For giving me the two most precious gifts I could ever have asked for." He responded. Mary Margaret chuckled.
"Well aren't you a real Prince Charming?" She teased.
"Indeed I am, my Queen. And this van my trusty steed. Which we'd best get going to get our princess into school in plenty time to take lots of pictures."
"Good point. Come on then." She said, getting into the passenger seat. They couldn't believe their baby started kindergarten today. She was growing up far too fast. But they could see she was ready for this. That's just who Emma was- ready for anything. This was just the next great adventure for her.
