Cygnet
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma being shrunk into the body of a 4 year old but still having her adult mind.
"You have got to be kidding me." Emma said, staring at the sippy cup in horror. "I am not drinking out of that."
"I'm afraid you are sweetie." Snow told her. "Think about it, your hands aren't big enough to hold a glass. You'd either drop it or spill it all over you. Humour me." Emma simply wrinkled her nose at the container.
"Come on honey." Charming encouraged her. "Rumple thinks you'll be like this for the next couple of days. You're going to have to tough it out."
"You've already got me in dungarees." Emma complained.
"That's because you refused to wear skirts or dresses. Then you complained that all the jeans had stupid things like flowers on them so you left yourself with no choice but dungarees." Snow reminded her. Not that Snow minded, she looked absolutely adorable.
"Fine." Emma sighed, reaching out and taking the stupid cup. Emma blinked as something bright flashed in her eyes. "Oh Hell no." She said. "You are not taking pictures of me like this."
"Watch your mouth." Charming warned her. "You might be an adult but right now you look like a little girl so no potty mouth. And yes we are. We didn't get to see you when you were really four, so we will be taking full advantage of how adorable you look." Emma groaned, banging her head back against the back of the couch. This was going to be a nightmare.
Emma found the most common of tasks hard. Snow had to help her unbutton her dungarees to allow her to go to the bathroom. Then her dad had to cut up her chicken for her at dinner. Henry had been sent to stay at Regina's barely ten minutes after seeing her because he just could not stop laughing. Fortunately Neal was too young to notice. Although Snow made sure she got some pictures of "little Emma" and Neal together. She wanted to get one framed. To look like a normal family in just one picture. Emma was curled up on the couch flicking through the channels. Snow was in the kitchen nursing Neal with Charming reading a book beside her.
"Charming." Snow whispered. When he looked up she motioned over to Emma, whose head kept drooping down. They shared a smile. The poor little thing was falling asleep. "You carry her upstairs and sit with her. She won't let you help her get changed. I'll finish feeding Neal and be right up." Charming nodded, getting up and going over to Emma. He took the remote from her and switched the TV off.
"Hey." Emma complained sleepily. "I was watching that."
"Really, with your eyes closed?" He teased. "Remember, your little body is going to get tired earlier on. Come on. Let's get you up to bed…"
"Woh there." Emma said, scooting back as her dad tried to pick her up. She got up from the couch and held her nose in the air. "I can walk." Charming gave an amused smile.
"Well alright then, on you go." Emma tried to start walking towards the stairs…but her feet didn't seem to want to. Was she drunk? She couldn't seem to walk in a straight line. Charming chuckled, picking her up and setting her on his hip before she could protest. "You're tired, honey. Let us help you."
"Fine." Emma said, giving in. "But you are not helping me change into those stupid pyjamas mom bought." Charming chuckled as he carried Emma up the stairs.
"No, your mom's going to do that when Neal's done eating." He set Emma down on her bed. Only a few minutes later Snow came up, smiling happily. It was such a small thing, but it was nice for them to finally be able to put Emma to bed. Charming leaned down and gently kissed Emma's head. "Good night, angel. Sweet dreams." He told her, also kissing Snow's cheek before leaving the room.
"Ok." Snow said, picking up the cute pyjamas with the little bunnies on them. "Let's get you ready for bed."
Snow helped Emma get changed before pulling back the covers and tucking her in. She then grabbed Emma's blanket from the cupboard and tucked it under her arm. "I know you're an adult now. But I thought you might like the comfort." Snow explained. Emma gave a tired little smile. Even as an adult her blanket always brought her some comfort. Snow leaned down and gently kissed her daughter's forehead. "Good night, honey. Sleep well. We're just downstairs if you need us." Snow told her.
"Night mom." Emma mumbled sleepily. Snow tiptoed out of the room, making sure to switch the light off on her way out. As she suspected Charming was still in the hall.
"She is by far the most adorable little girl in any world." He said proudly. Snow nodded in agreement, wrapping her arms around her husband.
"Takes after her daddy." She said happily. He smiled, kissing Snow's nose.
"As if! Emma is like her mommy. Absolutely beautiful…if a little stubborn." He teased. Snow rolled her eyes.
"And her tact from her daddy. Anyway, come on. We don't want to wake the sleeping princess." She said, taking his hand and walking down the stairs. Both of them loved being able to have this time with Emma, no matter how short. It was nice to be able to see their little girl.
