Calling a bluff
Emjoy13 asked for a oneshot of Emma being jealous of baby Neal, so tells her parents she's moving out. When her plan backfires and they think it's a good idea she feels worried about being abandoned.
Everywhere she turned it seemed, they were there with the baby. Smiling, laughing, just generally being happy. Sometimes Emma felt invisible, especially since Henry basically lived with Regina now. It was almost like her parents had forgotten they had another child. Maybe they needed a reminder that she was there, and she could leave any time.
"So I'm thinking this place is a little overcrowded." Emma said nonchalantly. "Maybe it's time I moved out of here."
"I think that's a good idea honey." Snow said, settling Neal in his Moses basket. Emma felt her heart hit her stomach. Her mom agreed? She was meant to think it was a bad idea!
"Yeah, it'll give you some more space, and better sleep." Charming joked. Now her dad too! Emma was doing her best not to cry. Emma just nodded, tight lipped to stop any tears coming out. She left to go up to her room. Was she really going to have to move out now? Did her parents want rid of her? Now that they had Neal, was Emma just a nuisance? Emma did her best to keep her tears silent.
Downstairs, Snow and Charming were a little bemused.
"Did she seem upset to you?" Charming asked. Snow nodded, trying to think of why. "She suggested moving out, were we supposed to disagree?" Then it hit them both.
"Yes." Snow said. "We were. Emma's worried we want her to leave. We want to just be with Neal."
"Ah." Charming grimaced. "We may have made a bit of a mistake."
"Oh yeah. Come on, we need to talk to her." Snow and Charming made their way up to Emma's room. "Emma?" Snow asked, knocking. "Sweetheart, can we come in?"
"Yeah." Came Emma's voice. It was a little croaky, they were both sure she had been crying. They came in and Emma was sitting on her bed. "Sorry, thought I'd have an early night. Long day of apartment hunting tomorrow…"
"Emma, you don't need to leave if you don't want to." Charming told her, as both he and Snow crossed the room to sit on the edge of Emma's bed. "We thought you wanted to move, that's all. If you don't want to go we love having you here. You're our daughter Emma. You matter just as much as Neal. Please tell us you know that."
"Of course." Emma said, but her parents were sure she was lying.
"Well…alright then. We'll let you get some sleep. Good night Emma."
"Night guys." Emma said, settling back on her bed as her parents left, unsure if she believed them or not.
