Help from experience

ElizabethCullen08 asked for a oneshot of Emma's younger sister (OC from a previous chapter) having magic and it going out of control and Emma being there to help. Before I begin. Wow. Two hundred chapters, I'm stunned. I couldn't do this without all of your support and requests so thank you to all of you!

Emma flung open the front door not even bothering to knock. She knew where her parents would be- and more importantly where Rosie was.

"I'm here!" Emma called as she ran up the stairs. Snow and Charming turned from outside their younger daughter's bedroom to see their older daughter rushing towards them.

"Is she still ok?" Emma asked. Her parents nodded.

"Yes. But thank goodness you got here so quickly. I don't know how long she'll hold out for." Snow told her. Rosie too had inherited magic from her parents' true love. It seemed to have been growing in strength as she grew, and lately had been getting out of control for her. She was only thirteen, and even though unlike Emma had been having lessons for years this was all still too much. Emma nodded, covering herself with her own magic shield ready to go in. Her dad's hand caught her and held her back briefly.

"Please be careful." He said seriously. This was horrible for her parents to have to witness. It was hard seeing Rosie in distress and not being able to help. And it was hard sending Emma in to help knowing she could get hurt. They'd already had Red pick Neal up so he was out of harm's way.

"I will." Emma told them before turning around again to go into Rosie's room. Snow gripped Charming's hand tightly, both hating the whole situation.

"Hey Rosie." Emma said gently, edging her way into the room.

"No Emma, stay back! I can't keep it in!" Rosie warned her big sister. Emma understood Rosie's fear, she'd been there herself. But Emma had nobody at the time who could help, but Emma could help Rosie. Emma's magic was strong enough that she could absorb the outburst from her. She just had to get close enough.

"Rosie, it's ok. I know that you're scared you're going to hurt someone. But you don't need to be scared of hurting me. I'm going to help you, but you need to trust me, ok?"

"But I don't want to hurt you!" Rosie cried, tears streaming down her face. It was so difficult for Snow and Charming to watch. All they wanted to do was comfort her, but they had to leave it to Emma just now.

"Honey, you're not going to hurt me. My magic is strong enough to absorb your outburst, I promise. You need to let me close enough, can you trust me?" Rosie knew she had little choice. She was going to blow any second. She nodded. Emma didn't waste any time. She sprinted forward and wrapped her little sister into a giant hug.

"It's ok." She told her. "You can let it go now." Rosie stopped holding onto the shred of control she had left of her magic. She gave in, and let it loose. But it didn't destroy everything in sight as she suspected it would. Instead Emma's yellow-ish shield of magic turned red before going back into Emma. Rosie then went limp in her sister's arms.

"I've gotcha kiddo." Emma told her. "You're ok now." Now that they knew it was safe, Snow and Charming came rushing into the room. Charming took Rosie from Emma and scooped her up into his arms. Snow flung her arms around Emma.

"Thank you." Snow said, voice filled with emotion. Emma hugged her mom back.

"You don't need to thank me. I was hardly going to let my little sister go and blow her room up now was I?" Emma said with a smile.

"Snow, we should probably call Blue to check her over." Charming said.

"Right." Snow replied, snapping back into focus. She pulled away from Emma and headed downstairs and call Blue.

"Let me know if she's alright. I'd best be going back to the station…"

"Where do you think you're going?" Charming said sternly. Emma was shocked, she wasn't expecting his "dad voice".

"Um…the station, like I just said…" Emma replied, confused as to why he looked so serious.

"Emma, you're not going anywhere until Blue's checked you over too. You might be strong but you just took in a heck of a lot of magic. Just because you haven't passed out does not mean that you're ok." Charming told her. Emma rolled her eyes.

"I'll be fine, honest…"

"Snow!" Charming called downstairs. "Emma wants to leave!"

"Like Hell she will!" Snow called back up. Charming smiled at his eldest.

"Told ya." He said with a smug grin. Emma rolled her eyes again, coming over and looking down at Rosie.

"She'll be ok. She just needs to get used to it. I can start coming round and showing her ways of coping if you want?" She offered.

"I think that sounds like a great idea." Charming said, smiling proudly. It was lovely for him and Snow to see the bonds between their children. Emma had taken on a very protective role of her younger siblings. She would do anything for them, and it was good for Snow and Charming to know that if anything should happen to them, Neal and Rosie would be safe. They had their Emma.
