Indecent modifications
Idontwannabeanythingother asked for a oneshot of Snowing and Emma going to a Christmas party. Emma is wearing a rather skimpy outfit but hides it under a cloak until they get there. When Charming sees he puts up a fuss and fireman style carries her home.
Charming sighed impatiently wrapping on Emma's door again.
"Emma!" He called through. "Come on honey, we have to go! We don't want to be late for Thomas and Ella's Ball."
"Coming!" Emma called back, frantically looking around her room for her cloak. If her dad saw what she was wearing there would be no way she was going tonight, but there was no way she was wearing the one she's been given. It was a nice dress and all, just a bit…dull. She had secretly been modifying it whenever she had a chance. It was now far more acceptable in Emma's eyes anyway. But far too skin on show for her parents, they didn't need to see her in the dress for Emma to know that. But that's the thing, they wouldn't see her in it. Whilst the adults had their Ball in the Ballroom, the young adults would be having their own in the function room, after much begging from Alexandria, Emma and the other young royals. Emma didn't know if any of the others would be modifying their outfits, that was just her own idea. She found her cloak right at the back of her wardrobe and quickly wrapped it around her. She opened her door and, not surprisingly, her dad was still waiting there. She gave him her best cute smile. He rolled his eyes, he'd expected as much. "Well sorry, but I had to find my warm cloak."
"You're not going to be outside." He said, exasperated. "Why do you need your cloak?"
"Well it's a Winter Ball for a reason, dad. It'll be cold in the carriage."
"Fine, whatever." Charming said, not wanting to waste any more time arguing with her. He placed a hand on her back and began to steer her towards the courtyard with the carriage where Snow was waiting. "Let's just get going."
Snow didn't question Emma's cloak, but did raise an eyebrow. Emma hated wearing cloaks. She suspected something was up, but they were already running late, she didn't want to hold them up anymore.
"Ok, when the clock chimes at quarter past twelve (Ella refused to allow it to chime at midnight on the dot) you make your way out and meet us on the steps, ok?" Charming told Emma, making sure she knew the plan. Emma nodded, excited to get in.
"Yes, I know." She told them. Snow chuckled, kissing her daughter's cheek.
"Good, then make sure you're not late. Have a good time, we'll only be across the hall if you need us."
"And behave yourself." Charming added, also kissing Emma's cheek.
"I will, now can we please go inside? I want to see Alex!" Both parents rolled their eyes, but followed Emma's request and made their way inside. Snow and Charming went in the door on the left while Emma went in the door on the right. Emma found herself in a massive hug with Princess Alexandria.
"Hey!" Alex practically squealed. "I can't believe my parents are letting me do this!"
"I know!" Emma shouted back over the music and chatter. Alex let go of Emma and took her hand.
"Come on and I'll show you where to put your cloak." She told her. Emma grinned, it appeared nobody else had modified their outfits…and Prince Abdul of Agrabah was here. Every available Princess was after him, and for good reason. He was absolutely gorgeous. Alex had led Emma over to a little closet where people's cloaks had been piled up. Emma gave a cheeky grin as she slipped off her cloak. She couldn't help but laugh at the way Alex's chin nearly hit the floor.
"Emma!" She choked out. "Your dress!"
"Do you like it?" Emma asked her. "I made some changes by myself…any time mom and dad were out."
"So I see." Alex muttered.
"Anyway…" Emma said, grabbing Alex's hand. "Let's dance!" Emma pulled her friend onto the dance floor and they began to perform the tricky dance. Emma of course noticed the many eyes now staring at her. Prince Abdul's joining them. When the dance finished he was the first the make his way to Emma.
"May I have this dance, Princess Emma?" He asked in his low, glorious voice. Emma did her best to swallow the lump in her throat as she nodded.
"Sure." She replied, wincing at the way her voice cracked. He didn't seem to notice, or if he did he didn't react at all. He simply bowed whilst Emma curtseyed before graciously placing one hand on her shoulder and the other around her waist whilst Emma took hold of him too. Internally Emma was jumping up and down screaming with excitement. She'd got what she wanted.
Meanwhile, Charming and Snow finished their own dance in the Ballroom. Charming could see the way Snow kept glancing over to the door.
"She's right next door." He told her. "She'll be fine."
"I know." Snow sighed. "But I can't help but think she's up to something. She hates cloaks, and tonight she wore one without needing to?" Charming frowned, she did have a point. He took her by the shoulders gently and kissed her forehead.
"I'll go check on her." Snow smiled at her husband.
"Thank you." He smiled back, before dodging the groups of people in the room to make his way next door. He smiled as he opened the door. The awkward faces of all their children, trying to act like grownups. They weren't there yet, but they would get there. He scanned the room slowly, looking for Emma. There was a dance going on, a slow waltz. He didn't pay too much attention to the dance floor, Emma wasn't into dancing. He didn't see Emma, but he did see Alex. Again he made his way through the crowds over to her.
"Alex!" He called over the noise. "Alex, over here!" Eventually, Alex did notice him, but she looked worried. Alarm bells started ringing for Charming. "Alex." He said as he got closer. "Where's Emma?"
"Um…" Alex said, reluctant to answer. Although she wasn't saying anything, she unconsciously looked over towards where she was dancing. Charming followed her gaze and his face paled. That was not the way that dress was meant to look.
"EMMA RUTH!" He bellowed. The whole room seemed to jump. The music stopped playing and the people fell silent. Abdul jumped away from Emma like she's suddenly turned red hot. Emma tried to act like she hadn't heard her dad. She tried to slowly back away until she could reach the door.
"Freeze. Right where you are. One more step and you'll be in even more trouble than you already are." He warned her. Reluctantly, Emma stopped moving and waited for her dad's verdict. He marched over and moved her chin so she was looking at him.
"Do we have to do this here?" Emma hissed, mortified.
"Well I think everyone here has already seen everything you've got to show them. Nothing left to hide now." Charming finished with giving Abdul a scathing look, causing him to shrink back into the corner of the room.
"I haven't done anything wrong. You're making a big deal out of nothing. Just go back to your party with mom and let me carry on with mine…"
"With you dressed like that. Not even if you were supervised, Emma. We are leaving, right now…" Charming grabbed Emma's wrist but she wrenched it back off him.
"I'm not a child!" Emma snapped. "I can wear what I want, and I can do what I want. You can't tell me what to do." Emma smirked. "I outrank you, I'm next in line to the throne." Charming sighed.
"I'm still your father and I'm still not going to allow you to make yourself out to be so easy. You're worth far more than that. You're not just a princess, you're my little princess and you always will be…I didn't want to do this but I see you leave me no choice." Before Emma could protest, Charming quickly picked Emma up fireman style over his shoulder.
"DAD!" Emma screamed. "Put me down!"
"Sorry Emma, you left me no choice. Enjoy your evening folks! Gentlemen, I catch any of you ogling my daughter like that again and I will not hesitate to bring out my sword." He warned, giving Abdul another look.
Despite Emma's protests, Charming carried her out into the hall. He opened the door to the other Ball with his free hand. Snow was watching out for him. Charming caught her eye and waved her over. Snow could just make out Emma's blond waves over Charming's shoulder. Snow grimaced, quickly making her way over. Looked like the party was over for her too.
