She's home
A guest asked for a oneshot of Charming opening the door to find Emma at the end of 3x12.
Who on Earth could that be? Charming thought to himself. It was nearly ten pm and he'd heard a short few taps on the door. He just hoped they hadn't disturbed Snow who was resting upstairs. It was still a lot for them both to get their head around. They weren't going to have long to get used to the idea of being parents again before their second child was born. Charming crossed the room to the door and opened it. His eyes widened. Emma. No, surely…how could she be here? Was he dreaming?
"Hi." She said happily. He didn't answer, he couldn't speak. His daughter was back home. He took a few staggering steps backwards, taking her in. No, that was definitely her, but still, how? Emma's face fell. She seemed to shake herself. "Don't close the door." She told him. "I- my name is-"
"Emma." Charming finished for her, sounding so very relieved. Ever since they'd found themselves back in Storybrooke they'd been hoping Emma would find them. But it seemed like a pipe dream. She had no memories of them, how would she knew where to look and even if she did she wouldn't know who they were. And they couldn't go looking for her. They were about to go when they heard about the disappearances. That hurt even more. Knowing their daughter was out there somewhere and they couldn't go find her. But now they didn't have to. She was right here in front of Charming.
"David?" She asked, sounding just as relieved. She moved towards him and Charming could no longer hold himself back. He enveloped Emma in a massive hug, cradling the back of her head as he always did. He didn't want to let her go, never again. He had lost her too many times. This was his chance to have her home forever.
In the joy of her coming home, Charming hadn't thought to question how Emma knew who he was.
"You remember." He stated, letting her stand at arm's reach but keeping his hands around her forearms.
"You remember." She retorted. He shook his head slightly, trying to sort out his thoughts.
"Of course." He said, still in shock. "What are you doing here?" He asked her.
"Hook found me. He brought me here...He said you were cursed." Emma told him. Charming looked a little confused.
"We're back…or, we never left…or, well we don't know." He tried to explain. "We're trapped again."
"But you know who you are?" Emma confirmed. Charming nodded. But that wasn't their worry just now.
"We don't know this curse. We don't who did it or why…all we know is our last year has been wiped away."
"Wiped away?" Emma asked, not understanding. Charming looked at Emma, so grateful she was home.
"All we remember is saying goodbye to you." That was a memory neither really wanted to have. Torn apart for the second time. "It feels like yesterday." Charming added.
"But if you can't remember then…how do you know it's been a-"
"Emma?" Charming smiled. He was going to go up and get Snow, she'd rather be woken for this. Their baby girl was home where she belonged…even if they now did have some explaining to do.
