Neal's surprise
Guest who asked for a oneshot about Snow and an eight year old Neal I'm so sorry! Sometimes reviews slip through the net, I don't ignore them, so sorry it came across that way! Here is your oneshot :) And Lou, she was singing "something new" in "When we think we're alone" and "the parting glass" in "Sissy's voice". :)
Snow stood back and watched as Neal worked intently with his back to her. His shoulders were hunched in concentration as he scribbled away. She coughed to let him know she was there. He spun round quickly, whatever he was working on clutched tightly behind his back.
"What you got there Neal?" Snow asked gently.
"Nothing." Neal replied in a singsong voice, giving her his cutest smile. Snow frowned, that smile definitely meant he was up to something. Snow held out her hand.
"Give it to me." She told him, using her no nonsense voice. Neal seemed reluctant, he squirmed around on the spot. "Now, Neal."
"I don't wanna." He protested, pouting.
"Neal I wasn't asking if you wanted to or not." Snow repeated. Neal was a wonderful little boy, but he was far too much like his parents. A little hero, and unfortunately that often landed him in trouble. He was forever coming up with plans to help children at school who were getting picked on, or trying to sort out the villains who remained in the town. Reluctantly, Neal handed over the piece of paper to his mom. Snow looked at it and her heart nearly melted. On it was a picture of her and Neal with the words "I love you mom" written underneath.
"It was going to be a surprise." Neal murmured. Snow smiled warmly, cupping his cheek.
"I'm really sorry I ruined your surprise." She said sincerely. "But now that I have it, it's going straight on the fridge so everyone can see what a wonderful son I have." Snow told him, walking straight over and placing the picture right in the centre of the fridge. She stepped back and looked at it fondly. She really did love her little hero.
