Changing past misdoings

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma not listening to Hook and saving Marian at the first attempt.

"Help me please!" The bitter cries tore at Emma's heart. "She's going to kill me." Emma couldn't let this happen. Whilst she was here she may as well try and save Regina's soul. She got up to help set the woman free but felt Hook's hand clasp around her wrist.

"What are you doing?" He hissed.

"I'm helping that woman. She's just an innocent-"

"No Swan." He whispered firmly.

"Let me go." Emma pulled her arm away from Killian and dashed out before he could stop her.

"Stop!" Emma demanded. Regina stopped cackling and looked at the impudent commoner who dared tell her what to do. "Regina, don't do this."

"Regina?" She snapped back. "How dare you! Address me by my proper title peasant!" Regina snarled. Emma stayed cool. She was used to Regina's fiery temper by now. The rest of the village was- quite rightly- cowering away in fear. Regina was powerful. They didn't know Emma was even stronger. Marian too stood frozen in fear. Who was this stranger defending her? She was incredibly grateful, but at the same time was this woman stupid? The man with her seemed to think so. He stood awkwardly behind her. It looked like he wanted to pull her back but knew it was too late.

"That's not your proper title though is it?" Emma sighed. "That belongs to my m- Snow White." Emma quickly corrected herself. "You forced her into hiding. It still belongs to her. Stop this reign of terror, Regina. You don't have to be like this. You can be happy."

"She's right you know Regina." Came a cool voice from this midst of the crowd. Everyone turned round and immediately gasped. Snow was there. She pulled down the hood of her cloak to reveal herself properly. "Don't hurt the woman. It's me you want anyway. Take me and this all ends…"

"No!" Emma yelled.

"I thought you wanted to save the other peasant?" Regina spat. "I take Snow White and her life is spared.

"No!" Emma repeated. If Regina took Snow and killed her now Emma wouldn't exist. Henry wouldn't exist. "Trust me Regina you don't want to do this…"

"Swan don't do this." Hook warned. He could see where this was going. Emma ignored him. She had to save both the innocent woman and Snow and this seemed like the only way. Regina smirked at her.

"Oh, and why is that? I'll humour you." Regina asked Emma.

"Because I'm not from here. Well, from this time period. I'm from the future and in that future you adopted my son. Without me you don't get your son. And I can't be born if you kill my mother."

"Your what?" Marian, Regina and Snow said together. Equally shocked.

"My mother." Emma repeated. She turned and looked at Snow with frightened eyes. "You're my mother." Snow stared back, completely taken aback. How could this woman who was her age be her daughter? And did she say Regina had adopted her son? Regina looked right at the stranger's face. Rumplestiltskin had taught her how to spot a master liar. This woman was telling no lie.

Regina stepped closer to Emma, a menacing grin on her face. "Yes. She does have your chin, Snow." She sneered, rolling up one of the sleeves of her dress. She wanted to destroy Snow. She didn't know this child she was going to adopt yet. She could adopt any other child she wanted. What mattered was destroying Snow's life. Snow could tell what she was going to do. She didn't even know this woman yet, but she could tell she wasn't lying. This really was her daughter, and she couldn't let Regina murder her.

"No no no…" Snow tried to step forward and offer herself in Emma's place, but Regina froze her on the spot along with Emma.

"Snow just you stay right there. You and this whole village can see what you've done. You've had your own child executed before she was even born. Take a good look Snow. It's the only chance you'll get…"

"NO!" Snow screamed.

"SWAN!" Killian yelled.

But it was too late. Regina had plunged her hand into Emma's chest and had her hand gripped tightly around her heart. She grinned triumphantly. But Emma didn't panic. She'd been here before with Regina's mother. And sure enough the same thing happened again. Regina found herself unable to pull Emma's heart from her chest.

"One day you'll learn." Emma said gently. "That love is strength." With that, Emma's dazzling white magic shot out and Regina flew backwards. She disappeared before she hit the ground. Hook was by Emma's side in an instant.

"Swan you bloody fool." He sighed. He knew she was just trying to be a good person, and that's why he loved her. But now they really were in trouble. "Come on." He said, taking her hand. "We have to leave, now."

"Wait!" Marian called, rushing over. "How can I ever repay you? You've saved my life."

"No need." Emma told her. "I was just doing the right thing." Emma turned and saw her mother. Despite Regina's spell being broken she was still frozen on the spot. Just staring at Emma. Emma smiled gently at her.

"I apologise in advance for the pain." She joked. "Just…know that I love you, ok? Always remember that."

"Swan!" Hook groaned, she shouldn't be speaking to her at all let alone leaving cryptic clues. He pulled Emma away and they fled into the forest. Snow watched them go, still in shock. Of course there was a big question on Snow's mind…who on Earth was her father?
