A good talking to

A few people have asked for a oneshot of a follow up to 228.

It was a near silent ride home. Snow was right that the party was over for her too. She came out and paled at the sight of Emma's dress. Charming quickly filled Snow in on the whole conversation he and Emma had in the youth Ball. Snow certainly had some comments she had to share with Emma on her attitude with her father. Snow had quickly gone into the youth Ball to grab Emma's cloak. She made sure to give Abdul her own warning glare as she left. A quick explanation to Ella and Thomas as to why they were leaving so early and they were off. The whole journey was awkward and tense. Charming and Snow sat tight lipped and disapproving on one side. Emma sat cloak wrapped tightly around her on the other. The carriage came to a stop in the courtyard a couple of hours later.

"Well this has been lovely." Emma said, opening the door. "Goodni-"

"Sit back down." Snow said so sternly Emma froze completely for a moment. Then, slowly, she shut the door again. She was for it now. "What on Earth made you think dressing like that was acceptable?" Snow asked her. Emma just shrugged. "Emma Ruth don't you dare shrug your shoulders at me." Snow warned her. "I don't like this new attitude. First you think it's ok to tell your father you outrank him and now you're cheeking me off? No, Emma, this is not acceptable. And get the notion that you outrank anyone out of your head right now. I have never claimed to rule higher than your father. We rule this kingdom equally and even then, he is your father and you will treat him with respect. Do you not remember the discussion we had when you got your first proper tiara on your thirteenth birthday? When you become Queen you are to rule kindly and with respect. How do you expect us to trust you to be able to do that based on your behaviour today? You have shown no respect for us as your parents, and you have shown no respect towards yourself." Emma wasn't able to look at her parents.

"I'm sorry." She said quietly. "I shouldn't have spoken to you like that dad."

"No you shouldn't have." Charming replied firmly. "But I forgive you. However, if you ever speak to me like that again- especially in front of company- I will be a lot madder. Clear?"

"Clear." Emma responded.

"Good. And I never want to see you in clothes like that again. You are far more precious than that. If any boy out there is good enough for you- and I'm not so sure there is one- then he has to fight for you. I don't want someone with my daughter who looks upon you as a conquest. Alright?" Emma nodded in response. "Good. Now you're excused." Emma quietly slipped out of the carriage. Snow sighed, rubbing her temple.

"She's going to make me turn grey." She groaned.

"You and me both." Charming responded, wrapping an arm around Snow and kissing the side of her head. "Can I make a Royal Decree that she can't date until I feel they're good enough for her?"

"You mean keep her single for life?" Snow asked.

"Well…" Snow laughed, snuggling into his side.

"Sorry honey, but I don't think you can. One day she'll fall in love and then there's nothing you can do." Charming grimaced. And so it all began.
