LyssLovesShules33 asked for a oneshot of the aftermath of Emma drowning in 3x01. I've used creative license to manipulate timing a little in this chapter, hope that's ok! And on a side note, woohoo! One thousand reviews! Thank you so much everyone. Means so much to me :)
"You're freezing." Snow said, clearly concerned, as her hand rested on Emma's cheek. Now that she knew her daughter was alive it was time to focus on the "and well" part. And if they didn't get her warm and dry soon she'd not be well for some time.
"I'm ok." Emma responded. Snow and Charming just gave her unbelieving looks. She was shivering, and even in the pale moonlight she looked nearly transparent. "Dad was in the water too." Emma said, trying to deflect the attention from herself.
"Yes, but not for nearly as long and I didn't bash my head." Charming pointed out.
"Oh your head! I'll need to have a look at that too." Snow said, giving a concerned glance towards the already small lump on Emma's head. Well Emma's plan had backfired massively.
"Come on, let's get you back to the cabin." Charming said as he bent down and began to pick Emma up.
"Who there!" Emma said, alarmed. She was very aware of the rest of the group still being there and watching the scene. "I can walk myself to my cabin thanks…"
"Oh you're not going to your cabin." Snow told her firmly. "You're coming back to ours. I have a spare change for you there. And there's a spare bunk in our cabin too. I don't think you should be on your own tonight with a head injury." Charming nodded in agreement with Snow.
"It's hardly a head injury it's just a little bump." Emma grumbled. "And aren't I a little old for you to be telling me what to do just because I'm sick?"
"No." Both parents said unanimously. Emma's mouth opened, but no words came out. She couldn't argue with them. Mumbling under her breath she allowed her father to carry her back to her parents' cabin. He placed her gently on the bed.
"I'll go through to Emma's cabin and get myself changed." He said, allowing Emma some privacy. When he was gone, Snow placed some dry clothes beside Emma and then turned her back.
"I'm here if you need me." She said. Emma rolled her eyes, but didn't put up a fuss. Resistance was futile at the moment, they'd gone into some new total parent mode.
"I'm changed now." Emma said, signalling her mother to turn around again. Snow turned and smiled at her. She quickly took the wet clothes and stuck them in a small box at the doorway.
"You can come back in now." Snow called, so Charming knew Emma was decent. He and Snow then walked back to Emma's side. "Now, let's take a look at that head…"
"It's fine." Emma sighed. "You don't need to fuss."
"Emma." Charming warned. "Let your mother check. It's better to be safe than sorry. It'll only take a moment." Emma sighed, but allowed her mother to check her head. She hissed in pain when her mom pressed down slightly on the lump.
"Sorry." Snow apologised. "Just being thorough. But I think you'll be just fine. But just to be on the safe side, you can sleep on the spare bunk tonight."
"I'm not getting a choice in this, am I?" Emma muttered.
"No, you're not." Charming chuckled, reaching out and squeezing Emma's shoulder. "Please, never do anything like that again. We could have lost you. We thought we had…" Charming was unable to say anything else. Even the thought of losing Emma caused him to choke up.
"Well it worked in my defence." Emma complained. "You all stopped fighting and we lived. No harm done." Charming and Snow weren't sure they agreed with "no harm done". But they would let it slide since they knew Emma was going to be fine. That wasn't to say this was the end of. Oh no, she would not be leaving the cabin until Snow and Charming were one hundred percent positive she wasn't in any way sick.
