Sleep well
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma falling asleep whilst watching a movie with her parents and Charming carrying her up to bed.
It was nice to finally have a slow week. Nobody to have to chase after or defend the town against. Emma and Charming were back to regular station hours. All that there was for the family to do that cold winter evening was cuddle up with blankets and hot cocoa and watch one of the cheesy Christmas movies on offer. Neal was safely tucked up in his crib before it began and Henry found himself drooping about halfway through so shuffled off to bed. Emma hadn't been so quick to notice her sleepiness. Long before the credits were rolling that stirred her parents into moving, Emma had dozed off curled up on the armchair.
"Well we'd best be off to-" Snow stopped when she saw Emma curled up snoozing away. She nudged Charming beside her and motioned to their daughter. He shared the same loving smile with his wife. Emma looked so peaceful while she slept, and so much younger. She could almost pass for a sixteen year old. Like all her troubles had melted away.
"She'll wake up with a sore neck if she sleeps like that." Charming said, getting up. "I'll carry her up to bed." Snow nodded through her stretch. Charming reached down and gently picked Emma up in his arms. He was as careful with her the day he carried her to the wardrobe on the day she was born. She still felt so fragile in his arms. But he didn't want her anywhere else. He could protect her. He always would. Charming slowly carried Emma up to her room and got her into bed. He chuckled at how she had managed not to wake through all the moving of Charming carrying her and getting her under the covers. He leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on her temple.
"Sleep well baby." Charming whispered as he tiptoed out of the room and turned off the light. He turned round one last time to look at her sleeping face. He smiled again. His little princess, no matter how big she got.
