You see, like Dad, Tiana dreamed of having her own restaurant, having her eyes on a old sugar mill, which she believes is perfect for her to start her business. And now that she got the money from Charlotte, Tiana was certain that her dream was about to become reality.
Later after her shift at Duke's, she met with the real estate men, the Fenner Brothers outside the sugar mill.
"Everything looks peachy-keen, Mr. Fenner...and Mr. Fenner."
"We'll have all the paperwork ready to sign, first thing after Mardi Gras." said the first Mr. Fenner as he and his brother removed their sign, which they put in their car.
"I'll do you one better." said Tiana. "Why don't I sign them tonight...at the La Bouffs' masquerade ball!"
"You drive a hard bargain, Tiana!" called the second Mr. Fenner as they drove away.
Tiana smiled to herself. Everything was going just as she had hoped.
"Can we still get that table of thirteen?"
At the sound of Dad's voice, Tiana turned to see all of us Louds and her mom, Eudora beside her.
"What are you all doing here?" she asked.
"Well, I know this is kinda sudden." Dad said, holding out a tin. "But I thought I whipped up a celebratory Lynn-sagna."
"And here's a little something to help you get started." Eudora added, holding up...
"Daddy's gumbo pot." gasped Tiana, whom her mom embraced with a comforting hug, saying. "I know. I wish he was here too."
Tiana sniffled as she wiped away a tear.
"Well, are we just gonna stand out here or are you gonna show us around?" asked Lori.
"Yeah, let's see it, dude." agreed Luna.
Leni let out a squeal. "I am so stoked!"
Tiana opened the door and led us inside the mill, where we were shocked to see how run-down it was.
"Just look at it, y'all. Doesn't it just make you want to cry?" Tiana asked optimistically.
"Uh, barf is more like it." cringed Lola.
"You won't have to once it's fixed up." assured Lana. "So, which goes where?"
"The maitre d's gonna be right where you're standing." explained Tiana. "Oh, and over here, a gourmet kitchen! And hanging from the ceiling, a big old crystal chandelier!"
"Sure takes after her father, doesn't she?" Mom asked Eudora, who replied. "Mm-hmm, he used to go on and on about this old sugar mill, too."
As we all went inside, looking around the mill, Eudora walked over to Tiana, saying. "Babycakes, I'm sure this place is gonna be just wonderful, but it's a shame you're working so hard."
"But how can I let up now when I'm so close?" Tiana said as she went in sweeping the floor. "I've gotta make sure all Daddy's hard work means something."
"Tiana!" Eudora said, firmly setting the gumbo pot on a nearby stool. "Your dad may not have gotten the place he always wanted, but he had something better...he had love. And that's all I want for you, sweetheart, to meet your Prince Charming and dance off into your happily ever after."
"Yeah," Lola said, standing on the stool once she pushed away the pot, which Eudora caught. "That's more my dream, not hers."
"She's got a point, Ma." agreed Tiana. "Besides, I don't have time for dancing. That's just gonna have to wait a while..."
"How long are we talking about here?" asked Lola.
Tiana:
Ain't got time for messin' around
And it's not my style
"Just like the little brianiac here." said Luan's puppet, Mr. Coconuts.
"I heard that!" called Lisa.
Once she put together a makeshift table for us, Tiana pulled out a picture with the words "Tiana's Place" written on it, passing it down to us while she went on singing.
This old town can slow you down
People taking the easy way
But I know exactly where I'm going
Getting closer and closer every day
And I'm almost there
I'm almost there
People down here think I'm crazy
But I don't care
Trials and tribulations,
I've had my share
There ain't nothing gonna stop me now
'cause I'm almost there
As Tiana sang, we found ourselves part of her imagination, where her restaurant was ready to open for business.
I remember Daddy told me
"Fairy tales can come true"
You gotta make 'em happen
It all depends on you
So I work real hard each and every day
Now things for sure are going my way
Just doing what I do
Look out, boys, I'm coming through
And I'm almost there
I'm almost there
People gonna come here from everywhere
And I'm almost there
I'm almost there
There's been trials and tribulations
You know I've had my share
But I've climbed the mountain, I've crossed the river
And I'm almost there
I'm almost there
I'm almost there
Inspired by her singing, we all pitched in to cleaning up the mill, such as taking out the garbage, removing the boards that were covering the windows, and getting rid of the cobwebs that were hanging in parts of the mill.
"Sigh." groaned Lucy as she saw the cobwebs being taken down.
Once we did what we could to spruce up the mill, we took our leave, eager to get the real work started once everything's been signed and dealt with.
