Last time on Sympho-Ball

Having the chance to catch up for lost time, Goku and Tsubasa made up for lost time over the past nine years.

But much to the surprise of everyone, the cousins weren't the only ones who were having a surprising reunion as Goku meets the girl that stole Bulma's radar as a kid, reminiscing happily over the scuffle that occurred thanks to the young Kanade.

But once the trip down memory lane was over, Goku threw a surprise request at his cousin: He wished to fight both her and Kanade at the same time, with the Kazanari swordswoman was more than happy to fulfill the request of.

While it seemed like everything was in Goku's favor at the beginning, the Zwei Wing duo surprised him and evened the odds faster than he could react. In the end, thanks to their combined efforts and Goku's tenacity, the match was considered a draw.

Once their promised match was over, Goku dropped one final bombshell on the duo: He was now working with them at Section Two as an Agent, and he would be working very closely with the duo on the battlefield!

But what will come of this newfound partnership between the Wielders and the Martial Artist? The future of their partnership is revealed, now.

The Fate of The Gungnir?! The Phonic Ki Gambit!

Age 2042
Zwei Wing Concert

Two years after being reunited with Goku, Tsubasa sat backstage in her idol costume, hiding in a corner away from the rest of the workers, who were busy setting everything up for hers and Kanade's performance. "Geez... I wish we had something to do to pass the time." Kanade says as she walks over to the isolated Tsubasa. "The time right before the show absolutely sucks, right?"

"Yeah..." Tsubasa meekly replies.

"Like, I just wanna get out there and go wild, but we can't even do that." Kanade continues.

"Right..."

Hearing this, Kanade looks over to her partner and smirks. "Don't tell me you're nervous about this, Tsubasa."

"Of course I'm nervous!" Tsubasa replies. "Sakurai told us that today is really important. So we have to give it our-Ouch!"

Kanade chuckles after she flicks Tsubasa on the forehead, stopping her from rambling with anxiety. "You're way too serious, Tsubasa!" Kanade says.

"Ah, there you guys are!" Goku says, walking over to the duo. "I've been looking all over for you two."

"Goku!" Tsubasa says.

"I was just startin' to wonder where you had run off to yourself, man." Kanade adds. "I take it Boss wanted you to find us for something?"

"For the most part, yeah." Goku says. "He just wanted me to remind you that-"

"'That today is really important', right?" Kanade asks. "Don't gotta worry about that! We already know!"

"I figured as much." Goku chuckles. "But other than that, I wanted to introduce you guys to a good friend of mine!"

As Goku said this, a bald man who was about half his height walked over to the group. "Heya!" The man says.

"Wassup, little guy?" Kanade replies.

"Yeah, I expected that..." The man sighed.

"Kanade, I don't think that's a kid." Tsubasa whispers to Kanade.

"Oh, shit! My bad!" Kanade shouts.

"You're fine." The man replied. "You wouldn't be the first to confuse me for a kid, but I doubt you'll be the last."

"Tsubasa, Kanade, I want you to meet my best friend, Krillin." Goku says to the idol duo. "Krillin, this is my cousin, Tsubasa, and her partner, Kanade."

"It's nice to meet you, Krillin." Tsubasa says, greeting Goku's friend.

"Likewise." Krillin replied. "It's nice to finally meet the one person Goku wouldn't shut up about when he got the opportunity to."

"Hey! I didn't talk about Tsubasa that much!" Goku retorts.

"Really?" Krillin asked. "Need I remind you about how that Chi-Chi chick thought Tsubasa was your girlfriend and you had to explain in fine detail that you were cousins, but she didn't believe you?"

"Ugh... Don't remind me..." Goku sighs. "I tried to clear up any misunderstandings she could've still had after the tournament, but she still hates my guts for embarrassing her during our match."

"To be fair, you did act like an idiot when she tried to get you to marry her." Krillin chuckled. "Good job dodging that bullet by the wa-."

"Anyways!" Goku interjects, changing the subject quickly. "Long story short, Dad let me invite Krillin to the concert, so I figured I'd introduce him to you two while I had the chance."

"Well, it's great to meet 'cha, Krillin! You seem like a chill guy." Kanade says. "Besides, a friend of my partner's cousin is a friend of mine."

"Sounds good to me!" Krillin replied.

"Well, we should probably go get to our seats before you guys go on here in a few." Goku says. "Break a leg!"

"Thanks, Goku! And rest assured, we've got the stage handled!" Kanade replies as she and Tsubasa both watch Goku and Krillin leave for the concert hall.

"So? What do ya think?" Goku asks Krillin as they walk down the backstage hallway.

"Even after seeing them in person, I still can't believe you're actually cousins with an idol." Krillin answers. "And you said your cousin was the blue-haired one?"

Goku nods "Yep."

"Huh... You know, given your personality, I would've assumed you and the redhead were cousins." Krillin says. "Like seriously, that girl was pretty much you as a woman."

"I guess I can see where you'd think that." Goku says, thinking about how he and Kanade were practically the same personality-wise, on and off the battlefield. "But you shouldn't judge Tsubasa based on your first impression of her. You'll see soon enough that she is not someone you want to underestimate."

After a while of walking, the friends finally reach their seats in the concert hall, the seats in question being a luxury box with Goku's name on it. "Wow... Your dad really went all-out for our seats, huh?"

"I mean, I usually just watch the concert from backstage, but he insisted on these seats this time since you were coming to see the concert." Goku says. "By the way, since there's time before the show, how have things been back at Kame house?"

"Oh, you know, same old same old with Master Roshi." Krillin answers. "You oughta stop by and say hi sometime. I'm sure Roshi would be interested to hear how you've been doing. Speaking of, what have you been up to since the whole fight with Piccolo's kid?"

Goku thought about this for a second before replying. "Well... There's a lot of stuff that I legally can't talk about here, but I'm sure if I asked my dad for permission, I could show you what I've been up to the past two years." Goku says.

"Right..." Krillin says, confused that Goku of all people was being quiet about things, but he could understand if it wasn't something that could be talked about publicly. Still, he had one question that couldn't really wait for an answer. "By the way, what is this thing that you gave me?" Krillin held up a crystal that was embedded into a special wristband that he put on his right wrist.

"Oh, that, I guess it should be fine to talk about it." Goku says, but just as he was about to explain the strange crystal to Krillin, the lights dimmed in the concert hall. "...I'll explain what it is after the concert. For now, let's focus on the concert."

"Talk about convenient timing..." Krillin murmured to himself.

The duo watched as Tsubasa and Kanade took to the stage while the concert hall was illuminated by the glow sticks of the thousands of people watching their performance. Goku may have been able to watch the practices for this performance more times than he could count, but he couldn't help but smile as he watched his cousin singing and dancing to her heart's content, and that passion only seemed to grow as the concert hall's roof opened up, transforming into a set of wings.

Shortly after the stage transformed, the girls finished their song, letting the crowd roar with excitement as Krillin looked down to the stage with a smirk. "Wow... You weren't kidding, Goku." Krillin says. "It's like she's an entirely different person from that shy girl I met backstage!"

"Right?" Goku chuckles. "And if you think this is impressive, you should see her in a fight!"

"She's a martial artist?!" Krillin asks.

"Well... Not exactly." Goku says.

"We're not done yet, everyone! We still have a lot more to show you all!"

Kanade says over the microphone, getting the audience pumped up as the next song was about to start. However, just as the Zwei Wing duo were about to start singing, a giant explosion happened in the middle of the concert hall, which scared the entire audience, but shocked Goku and Krillin. "Was that supposed to happen?!" Krillin asks.

"No!" Goku replies, before he hears an all too familiar screech in the skies. "Oh no..."

Soon after the screech, the stadium became overrun with multi-colored creatures on the ground and in the skies, and they were attacking the civilians, turning them into dust with just a single touch. "Are those..."

"Noise." Goku says, answering Krillin's question. "We need to stop them before they kill everyone!"

"How?" Krillin asks. "We had trouble fighting just a couple of them years ago. And I don't know about you, but I'm not about to risk my life fighting those things if I can barely hit them!"

"Thankfully, this won't be like those times in the past. Because now, we have these." Goku says, raising his wrist which sported a similar wristband to Krillin's.

"How are these things going to help us?" Krillin asks.

"Just tap on the crystal and it'll make sense when we go to fight the Noise." Goku says. "Bulma would do a better job of explaining how this stuff works, but you're just going to have to trust me for now."

"Okay..." Krillin hesitantly replies, tapping the crystal on his wristband as Goku taps his. Suddenly, the duo gained a faint reddish-white barrier around their bodies "Woah! What's with this weird barrier?"

"This barrier is thanks to something Ryoko-san and Bulma call 'The Phonic Ki Drive'. It'll allow us to fight these things without having to worry about being disintegrated." Goku explains as he pulls out a capsule containing the power pole, putting said pole's case on his back. "Like I said, Bulma can explain it better once we see her again, but right now, I need you to help get as many civilians out of here as you can!"

"Got it!" Krillin says. "And what are you going to do?"

"I'm gonna help Tsubasa and Kanade fight the main horde!" Goku answers as he blasts through the luxury box's window and leaps out into the concert hall.

Just as Goku left, it dawned on Krillin who Goku said he was helping. "WAIT THOSE TWO CAN FIGHT THESE THINGS?!"

"Croitzal ronzell Gungnir zizzl"

Krillin watched as a bright light engulfed the center of the stage, soon revealing two women, one wearing orange armor and carrying a spear and the other wearing blue armor and carrying a sword, who started to fight the Noise. "They're fighting those things with ease, and I can hardly sense any energy from them! Just what are they using to fight?!" Krillin said to himself, before looking at the aura surrounding him. "Calm down, Krillin... I'm sure Goku and Bulma will explain everything to me later, but right now, people are in danger, and I'm not about to sit here and let them die!"

Krillin ran through the open window and dove into the stadium below, landing directly on top of one of the Noise, killing it instantly. "Nice one, Krillin!" Goku cheers.

Surprised by what he was able to do, Krillin couldn't help but let out a chuckle. "Thanks!" He replies. "I'll handle getting as many people out of here as I can! Good luck, Goku!"

Goku gives Krillin a thumbs up as they both go off in different directions of the concert hall, the former fighting alongside his cousin while the latter travels around the stands looking for survivors, protecting them as he escorts them out of the building.

With their combined efforts, the Noise were being dealt with at a reasonable pace... That is until Kanade's Gear starts to fail her. "Seriously? Now?!" Kanade groans in frustration as her spear's light flickers off.

After this happened, Goku and Tsubasa quickly noticed Kanade being pushed back by the Noise. "Oh no, Kanade!" Tsubasa gasps.

"I'll go help her." Goku says, getting a nod from his cousin as a response. "Hang on Kanade! I'm on my way!"

"Of all the times for this to happen, it just HAD to be now..." Kanade sighs as she struggles to hold her ground. "This can't get any worse, right."

Unfortunately for the Gungnir Wielder, it can and will. Suddenly, the nearby stands collapse, and along with them, a girl cries out in fear, forcing Kanade to look over and see said girl laying on the ground. "Ow..." The girl cried, as a pack of Noise ran over to her location.

"Oh no you don't!" Without hesitation, Kanade quickly rushed over to the girl and dealt with the Noise that were just about to attack her. "Get out of here! Now!" The girl looked at Kanade in shock, but quickly did as she was told and got up onto her feet and started running. However, thanks to the injuries she obtained after the fall, she was only able to limp away.

"Crap! In her current state, Kanade's not going to be able to hold off those things for long!" Goku says, going from running to flying to pick up his pace.

Meanwhile, the Noise bombarded Kanade with everything they had, forcing the Wielder to spin her spear, turning it into a shield to protect the girl. While it worked for the most part, some of the damage she was blocking was breaking past her spear and chipping away at her armor, and eventually, the Noise broke through her spear, turning the majority of her armor into projectiles that went straight towards the girl.

"NO!" Goku shouts as he cupped his hands together and formed a reddish-blue ball in his hands. "Get away from her! Kamehame... HA!" Goku charged the ball up quickly and fired a massive blast at the Noise that were bombarding Kanade, eviscerating them in seconds.

Phonic Kamehameha

Goku let out a sigh as the Noise disintegrated, but once the dust settled, he saw Kanade rushing over to a girl bleeding out next to the stands. "Hey, don't die!" Kanade shouts to the girl. "Open your eyes! Don't give up on living!"

After Kanade shouted this, the girl faintly opened her eyes and looked at Kanade, who was relieved to see her looking back. "Kanade! Are you alright?" Goku asks as he runs over to Kanade's side, seeing the girl up close. "What happened?"

"I was trying to protect her from the Noise, but a piece of my armor chipped off and... Well..." Kanade didn't finish her sentence, but Goku got the gist of where it was going. "Goku, get her out of here and to a hospital as fast as you can."

"Kanade, you can't seriously be considering fighting in your Gear's current state, can you?" Goku asks. "You take the girl and leave the rest to Tsubasa and I."

"No. If I take her, she won't make it. And besides, I'm not done yet." Kanade replies as she picks up her spear. "I still have one last song in me, and I'm going to use it."

"One last song?" Goku asks, before quickly realizing what she was going to do. "Kanade, that's suicide!"

"Maybe so, but it's the only way to end this quickly." Kanade says, raising her spear above her head. "Tell Tsubasa I'm sorry, okay?"

Just as Kanade began to sing, Goku quickly interrupted the song by chopping Kanade on the neck, knocking her unconscious and out of her Gear. "...You can save the apologies for when there's a moment actually worth dying for." Goku says, before walking over to the girl and picking her and Kanade up. However, just as he was about to leave, Krillin lands next to him. "Krillin! Perfect timing!"

"What happened here, Goku?" Krillin asks. "And why is that girl bleeding?"

"Long story short: she got hit by shrapnel and needs immediate medical care." Goku says. "Krillin, can I please ask you to take them out of here to the nearest hospital?"

"Umm... Okay." Krillin says, taking the unconscious Kanade and the wounded girl into his arms.

"One second." Before Krillin left, however, Goku put his hand over the girl's wound and made his hand glow, slowing the blood flow. "There, that should ensure that the girl doesn't die from her wound."

"Will you be alright if I leave you two here?" Krillin asks.

"Yeah. Don't worry about us." Goku says. "Now hurry, before the girl dies!"

"R-Right!" Krillin says, taken aback by Goku's sudden shout, but quickly flies out of the stadium all the same.

"Goku? What's going on over there?" Tsubasa asks over Goku's communicator. "Why is your friend carrying Kanade? And why is she unconscious?"

"It's a long story." Goku says. "But right now, I need you to get to cover. I'm going to end this here and now, and I don't want you caught in the explosion."

"Wait... You couldn't possibly be planning on using that, are you?" Tsubasa asks. "It has yet to receive proper testing, you could die if you're not careful!"

"Kanade was willing to activate her Superb Song to accomplish the same result." Goku says, hearing an audible gasp from Tsubasa over the communicator. "Even if it's not safe, I have to attempt it. Just be ready to carry me back to HQ if I pass out from it okay?"

"Now's not the time to be telling jokes, cousin!" Tsubasa shouts.

"Then it's a good thing I'm a martial artist and not a comedian." Goku retorts with a chuckle. "I won't discuss this further, Tsubasa. Either get to cover now or risk being in the blast!"

Tsubasa was silent for a moment, but then she sighed. "If you die attempting this Goku, I'll never forgive you." Tsubasa says, before Goku could see her get out of the stadium from a distance.

Once he was sure Tsubasa left, Goku took a deep breath. "Alright... Let's do this!" He shouts as he presses down hard on the crystal, causing the aura around him to glow brighter than before as a melody similar to the one Kanade was singing before Goku knocked her out. Moments after this melody began to play, Goku felt a massive pain in his body, causing him to scream from how sudden it was. "So this must be what Ryoko-san was warning me about... Geez! This hurts!"

"Goku! Are you okay?!" Goku heard Tsubasa call out to him over the communicator.

"Y-Yeah... I'm fine. Just got taken off guard by this thing's recoil..." Goku replies. "Are you somewhere safe?"

"...Yes." Tsubasa sighs. "This better work, cousin!"

"If you could feel this power, then that would be the least of my worries!" Goku chuckles. "Well... Here goes nothing!"

Goku bolts to the middle of the stadium and leaps into the air. Once he was there, he focused his energy inward.

"This is for all of the innocent people you've killed! TAKE THIS!"

Goku screamed with all of his might as he let his energy burst out into a massive explosion that erased all of the Noise in the stadium out of existence, while surprisingly doing very little damage to the already very damaged concert hall.

Superb Phonic Ki Explosion

"...ku!"

Goku opened his eyes to see the aftermath of his explosion. There was no Noise to be seen anywhere. All he could see was a blurry version of his cousin running towards him in the middle of the stadium. He saw that she was shouting for him, but due to the ringing in his ears, he could barely hear her.

"Goku!"

"Hey Tsubasa..." Goku says, waving to Tsubasa. "Did it work?"

Tsubasa nods. "Yes. You cleared out the remaining Noise, nearly at the cost of your life, mind you!"

Goku chuckles while Tsubasa gives him a helping hand to his feet. "Well, at least now we can confirm that Ryoko-san's trump card for the Phonic Ki Drive works, right?" He asks. "But, man, either it needs some fine tuning, or I need to get stronger so I can handle the backlash from using it."

Tsubasa smirks. "Even after a life or death gamble, you still can't help but think about training, can you?" she asks, before realizing something that was overlooked by all of them. "Uncle! They were all under the stadium during the explosion!"

"Crap! You're right!" Goku shouts as the cousins quickly rush for the underground lab. At the same time, Goku tried contacting Genjuro. "Dad! Are you okay? Dad!"

"I'm fine, Goku." Genjuro said with a cough. "Ryoko-kun and I are the only ones still alive. We may need assistance getting out of the rubble though..."

"Hang tight! Tsubasa and I are on the way!" Goku says as the cousins pick up the pace.

Hospital

After what felt like hours, Kanade woke up in the hospital close to the stadium that herself and Tsubasa were just performing at. "Ugh... My head..." Kanade groans. Once she sat up, she remembered what happened before ending up in the hospital, quickly trying to hop out of the bed to search for the girl that she tried to protect, but before she could leave, she felt someone hold her still. "Let go of me! I need to know that she's okay!"

"Take it easy, Kanade!" Goku says. "You may not have taken any major injuries, but you still need to recover!"

Hearing this, Kanade turned around to see Goku was the one holding her. "Goku? What are you doing here?"

"Well, for starters, checking up on you." Goku answers. "I just wanted to make sure you didn't die trying to use your superb song."

"Tell Tsubasa I'm sorry, okay?"

"...You can save the apologies for when there's a moment actually worth dying for."

Remembering that moment, Kanade gave Goku a mean look. "Why did you stop me, Goku? I could've wiped out that horde in a second."

"I have no doubts that your attack would've done the trick, but as I said back then, it wasn't worth risking your life for." Goku says. "Hell, we should consider it a blessing that the only thing that happened out of your attempt is Gungnir getting shattered. If I hadn't stopped you when I did, you could've messed up your body, ending yours and Tsubasa's dream of being idols."

Kanade was shocked by the news. "Gungnir's... Shattered?!" she asks, to which Goku nods solemnly. "Dammit... Dammit damMIT DAMMIT!"

"Calm down!" Goku says. "I know it's not what you want to hear right now, but I might have a way to fix this."

"And how could you possibly fix my screw-up?" Kanade asks. "Are you gonna say something like 'Oh I can teach you how to use keys or whatever and you can fight Noise like me!'?"

"First off, it's Ki." Goku says, getting an eye-roll from Kanade. "Secondly, I can't exactly teach you how to use it... But I know someone who can..."

The Next Day...

"What?!" Genjuro shouts.

"Look, I know it sounds crazy, but this is the only way that we can really make this situation work for the better." Goku says. "All I'm asking is to let Kanade go train with Master Roshi so she can learn how to use Ki, pretty much negating the fact that Gungnir doesn't work anymore."

"That's not my main concern here, Goku." Genjuro says, turning to face Kanade. "Kanade, I'm more than willing to allow you to go train under my old master, but to allow both you AND Tsubasa to go at the same time would leave us defenseless against the Noise."

"And what if Tsubasa gets put into a situation where her Symphogear gets shattered while I'm away, huh?" Kanade retorts. "Either way, we would be without Symphogears. Besides, you guys have those Phonic Ki Drives, so you can always deal with them why we're away!"

Genjuro was taken aback by Kanade's suggestion. "Come to think of it, that might just work." Goku adds. "All things considered, it would be a breeze for me to fly back should you need me to come help with Noise."

"And they have a really good point of having Tsubasa go with them, Genji." Ryoko adds, entering the room as the discussion was taking place. "If they both received this training, I could easily add the Phonic Ki Drive to the Gears while they're away. Plus, by installing this drive, it could make it so Gungnir was functional again."

Hearing these points, Genjuro was left with no other choice but to agree. "Well... It will be an interesting year, but I'm sure we'll find a way around it." he says. "Alright, Goku, you can take Kanade and Tsubasa to train under Master Roshi. I'll have a boat ready to take you three to his island first thing tomorrow morning."

Goku and Kanade look at one another and smile. "Thanks, Dad!/Thanks, Boss!" They both say before leaving the room happily.

Meanwhile, Genjuro sighed. "What's wrong, Genjuro?" Ryoko asks. "Isn't making the wielders stronger a good thing?"

"It is... But, if Master Roshi's the same as I remember him, this will not be easy for them." Genjuro says.

"I'm sure the training can't be that hard for them!" Ryoko chuckles.

"Yes... The training is the part that I'm worried about..." Genjuro says sarcastically.

Kame House

Two days later, with permission from Genjuro, Goku, Tsubasa, and Kanade went with Krillin in a boat away from mainland Japan. While the girls were busy overlooking the coast, Krillin pulled Goku aside to ask him something.

"Umm... Goku? Are you sure this is a good idea?" Krillin asks. "I mean, you do realize what you're doing here, right?"

"What?" Goku asks obliviously.

"Goku... You're bringing two women to train with Roshi." Krillin says, getting a confused head tilt from Goku. "Roshi. Women."

"Oh, come on, Krillin." Goku says, finally getting what Krillin was trying to say. "I'm sure it's not gonna be that big of a deal. Sure, Master Roshi doesn't have many students nowadays, but I'm sure he's still a great teacher!" ...Or so the monk had hoped he finally got through to him...

"Moving on... But, why Roshi of all people, Goku?" Krillin asks. "Didn't you have other masters who would be more than willing to train them?"

"Well, all things considered, I was only able to train with them because I trained under Roshi." Goku answers. "And I mean, I'd ask dad to train them, but he only really trained me in the physical aspect of training. If Kanade and Tsubasa are gonna have any hope of using the Phonic Ki Drive, they need Roshi's training."

"Still can't believe Bulma and that Ryoko lady managed to make something like that." Krillin adds.

"Pretty sweet view, huh Tsubasa?" Kanade asks.

"It sure is, Kanade..." Tsubasa answers. "...Are you sure we should both be away from mainland Japan for this long?"

"I'm sure it'll be fine!" Kanade says. "It wouldn't exactly be the best thing to return to the stage just yet after that concert, and Goku and his short friend should be able to pick up the slack while we're away, so no biggie!"

"And are you okay, Kanade?" Tsubasa asks, getting a head tilt from the redhead. "You're taking things rather well considering you were willing to give up your life just two days ago."

Kanade sighed, looking to make sure Goku and Krillin weren't looking in their direction before answering the bluenette. "If I can be honest, I'm still very upset at how everything ended up going after the concert, especially my brash decision to try and use my superb song and breaking Gungnir because of it. But, all things considered, Goku stopped me from doing the one thing I told that child not to do, so if he's willing to go this far to try and help me fix my mistake, I won't think twice about it."

Tsubasa gave Kanade an understanding nod. "I see... But, why am I coming with you for this? I still have access to Ame no Habakiri."

"It's like I told boss before he agreed to let us go, if we both learn this Ki stuff, it'll be very useful in the long run." Kanade says. "Sure, you still have Ame no Habakiri, but what if it ends up the same way Gungnir is now?"

"I guess that makes sense." Tsubasa says. "But are you sure it wasn't because you thought I'd get lonely while you were away with my cousin?"

Kanade got flustered by this question, but thankfully, she noticed a house on an island with the words "KAME HOUSE" written on the side. "Oh hey! We're here!"

The boat docked at the beachside and the group got off. "Thanks for the lift!" Goku says to the Helmsman, who nodded before they returned to the mainland.

"So... This is the place?" Kanade asks. "...It's a lot smaller than I expected, but still, it's pretty dope that your Master has a whole island to himself."

"Speaking of him, where is your Master, Goku?" Tsubasa asks.

"He should be around here somewhere. Wait here and I'll go see if he's inside." Goku says as he runs over and knocks on the door. "Master Roshi! Are you in there?"

The Zwei Wing duo watch as Goku waits for someone to answer the door, but no one answers, leaving Goku no other choice but to look around the building to see if he was somewhere else. "Odd... Roshi's almost always inside Kame House." Krillin says.

"Maybe he went out somewhere?" Kanade asks, before seeing an old man out of the corner of her eye. "Maybe this guy knows something about where this Roshi guy is."

"Old guy?" Krillin asks, noticing the man Kanade was referring to. "Wait, that's-"

"Hey, old man!" Kanade shouts. "I'm lookin' for someone called 'Roshi'. You know where I could go about findin' him?"

The old man smirked when he saw Kanade. "Well... I might have an idea as to where this 'Roshi' fella might be, but that kind of information doesn't come cheap." He said.

Kanade looked at the old man with a raised brow. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Well... I'm a close friend of Roshi's, and he told me that he didn't really want anyone to know where he was headin' off to." The man said. "However, I'm willing to tell you where he is, if you did a little something for me in return, if you know what I mean..." Saying this, the man started to drool while letting out a cackle.

Kanade scoffed as she looked at the man. "Are... Are you trying to hit on me?"

"Would you knock it off, Roshi?" Krillin says, giving the old man a judgmental look.

"Krillin?!" Roshi asks in surprise. "I thought you were off at the mainland visiting Goku!"

"I was." Krillin says. "But the trip ended a little sooner than expected."

"Master Roshi!" Goku cheers, running over to give his master a hug. "I've been looking all over the island for you! How've you been?"

"Goku! It's good to see you again!" Roshi says. "Last I heard you were going to join up with your old man and that cousin of yours. How's that free-spirited fella doing anyhow?"

"Oh, Dad's been doing just fine!" Goku says. "But right now, Master Roshi, there's something I really need your help with."

Roshi raised an eyebrow at his pupil. "Oh? Well, what can I do for ya, my boy?"

"Well, it's not exactly for me, per se." Goku chuckles. "You see, some close friends of mine really want to learn how to control their Ki, so naturally I recommended you to them. So I was wondering, if at all possible, could you train them like you did me and Krillin?"

"Training, huh?" Roshi says while stroking his beard. "Well, I usually don't just train people for free, but since you've already done so much for this old man, I'm willing to return the favor this once."

Goku cheers upon hearing this. "Great! Thank you so much Master Roshi!"

"Yeah, yeah." Roshi chuckles. "So, where are these friends of yours?"

"Actually, they're right next to you!" Goku answers. "Roshi, I'd like you to meet my cousin, Tsubasa Kazanari, and her partner, Kanade Amou. Kanade, Tsubasa, this is my Master, Roshi!"

"Hold on, you're Goku's master?!" Kanade gasps. "Goku, you were seriously trained by this pervert?"

"Unfortunately, yes we were..." Krillin answers for both of them.

"I mean... Sure, Roshi does have an... Interesting approach to certain people..." Goku says. "But if you give him a chance, I'm sure he'll behave himself, right Roshi?"

"Of course!" Roshi agrees. "After all, I'd be a fool to make advances on someone close to some of my pupils, even if it may be Zwei Wing themselves..."

"You know who we are?" Tsubasa asks.

"I would probably hold off on asking just how much he knows about you two." Krillin states, which worries Tsubasa and Kanade. "Trust me, it's for the better."

"So he's a pervert through and through... Got it." Kanade sighs. "Listen, old man, if you try anything funny with Me or Tsubasa, I'll make sure you live to regret it. Understand?"

"Would you believe me if I said you wouldn't be the first to tell me that?" Roshi retorts, before noticing Goku giving him a glare. "But you have my word that, while you're under my tutelage, I won't try anything funny."

"Thank you." Kanade says.

"But I can't guarantee that I'll be able to hold myself back in the future. Hehehe..." Roshi cackles.

"And you're still okay with this, Goku?" Krillin whispers to Goku.

"He promised that he won't try anything while they're being trained." Goku retorts. "What's the worst that could happen?"

"It's Roshi, Goku. ANYTHING can happen!"

Eight Months Later

After eight grueling months of training, Kanade and Tsubasa managed to do everything that Roshi demanded of them. And so, the morning following the completion of their training, Kanade and Tsubasa stood on the beach of Kame House in front of Goku and Krillin, the two groups staring each other down in their battle stances.

After a very long silence, the students of Master Roshi charged at one another, trading blow for blow with relative ease. This went on for a while, until one of Goku's punches to Kanade was met with an afterimage that faded away. "What?"

"Over here!" Kanade taunts as she goes for the opening she left on Goku, but she would soon find that she too was attacking an afterimage.

"You gotta try a little harder than that if you want to get the jump on me!" Goku retorts, before landing a kick on Kanade's side that sends her flying towards Tsubasa.

"Kanade!" The bluenette gasps.

"Damn... These guys sure are tough..." Kanade says while getting back on her feet. "How does this seem harder than when we fought on par with Goku months ago?"

"To be fair, we were using our Symphogears to match him in power back then." Tsubasa states.

"Right... And now we're left to just our own two fists." Kanade sighs.

"You two doing alright over there?" Goku asks. "Or are you too tired to continue?"

Kanade chuckles at Goku's taunting question. "We're not done any time soon, Goku!" She retorts. "In fact, we're just about ready to finish this!"

Saying this, Kanade let her Ki burst forth, causing the wind around her to shake the leaves of the trees close to her. "Kanade, what are you doing?!" Tsubasa asks.

"I'm ending this fight here and now!" Kanade says, cupping her hands together in front of her. "You with me?"

Tsubasa looked at Kanade, then over to Goku and Krillin, who were both smirking as they held their hands out the same way Kanade was, and then finally back to Kanade as she smiled. "Always."

And so, looking to end this battle, the past and present students of the Turtle School faced each other and prepared to use the signature technique of their master.

"Kaaaa!"

"Meeee!"

"Haaaa!"

"Meeee!"

"HAAAAAAA!"

Zwei Kamehameha

"HAAAAAAA!"

Combined Kamehameha

The groups fire off their Kamehamehas at one another, shaking the island around them after the beams collide. At first, it seemed as though they were on even ground, but Goku and Krillin would soon turn the tide in their favor as they added more power to their blasts, pushing back the kamehamehas of Zwei Wing, and making the duo start to worry.

"It's over!" Goku shouts as he and Krillin make one final push, consuming Zwei Wing's attack and sending them flying into the ocean.

With the battle over, Tsubasa and Kanade swam back to shore, beaten and exhausted. "Damn... We lost..." Kanade says between heavy breaths. "You okay, Tsubasa."

"I'm fine..." Tsubasa says. "If I can be honest though, I had a feeling we would lose from the start."

"How come?" Kanade asks.

"Think about it. Goku and his friend have been training for years on end under Master Roshi's teachings where we have only just started months ago." Tsubasa explains. "At the end of the day, we had no hope of winning against them."

Kanade looked down at the sand with a frown. "I guess you're right..." She says, before her frown turned into a content smile. "But that just means we have to get stronger. With or without our Symphogears!"

Tsubasa looked over at Kanade in shock, but she quickly had an equally content smirk on her face. "Right."

Kanade got up from her knees and held her hand out to Tsubasa.

"We're Zwei Wing, two wings that can fly to the ends of the Earth."

"Together, there is nothing we can't overcome!"

As the duo resolve themselves to become stronger, Goku, Krillin, and Roshi look on in satisfaction. "You think that was enough to teach them the lesson we had to learn at the world tournament?" Krillin asks.

"I'd say so." Goku says with a confident nod. "But if I'm being honest, I think it'll be harder to get those two to not train than to neglect it. Hehehe."

"Well, Goku, I'll admit that I had my doubts about those two when you brought them here, but they've really proven themselves." Roshi says. "If they end up anything like you and Krillin have, I look forward to seeing what the future will hold for them. In more ways than one!"

"And here I thought all those hits on your head over the past few months would've knocked that perverted part of you out for good..." Krillin sighs.

"Either way, thanks again for training them, Master Roshi!" Goku says, grateful for his Master's help.

"Eh, it was nothing." Roshi replies. "But Goku, try not to make a habit out of visiting me just to bring people to train under me. I'm not gonna go through the effort of training the entire Japanese military for you."

"Of course, Roshi! This was just an urgent case." Goku says. "Next time I visit, it'll be just to catch up for old times sake."

"And depending on just how long it takes you to finally show up again, who knows? Maybe you'll have a student of your own." Roshi chuckles. "I mean, your old man did a pretty good job of teaching you martial arts, even if his methods were a little... Unorthodox."

Goku smirks at the thought. "Come now, Roshi. I'm sure I'll be back long before I can consider myself someone's Master..."

Age 2044
Section Two HQ

After their training with Roshi, Kanade and Tsubasa returned with Goku to Section Two to reach greater heights on their own while also working on their music as Zwei Wing. As for those greater heights, Kanade had spent the majority of her free time for the past year to help Ryoko with a project she had been working on while the Zwei Wing duo were away, and the fruits of that labor were about to be shown.

"Are you ready, Kanade-chan?" Ryoko asks.

Kanade chuckles. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"Just had to make sure." Ryoko says, shrugging in the room she was monitoring Kanade from. "Alrighty then. When you're ready, activate the PKD."

Without hesitation, Kanade tapped her wristband, activating the Phonic Ki Drive. "What now?"

"You're the Wielder here, Kanade-chan." Ryoko says with a giggle. "Do what you do best!"

Hearing this, Kanade smirks as she looks down at the repaired Gungnir pendant that was in her other hand before pressing it against the PKD. When she did that, sparks began to fly from the PKD, causing Kanade pain in the process.

"Are you sure this is gonna work, Ryoko-san?" Goku asks. "It seems like we're just getting the same results as always..."

"Oh ye of little faith." Ryoko says, waving off Goku's doubts. "If this were the same results as always, wouldn't the drive have rejected the pendant by now?"

Goku and the other members of Section Two looked back at the monitor and saw that, much to everyone's surprise, the sparks stopped and the pendant infused itself with the PKD. "You're right!"

"Of course I am." Ryoko says before tapping on the mic. "Alright, Kanade-chan, the drive should be stable now. Let 'er rip!"

"Don't gotta tell me twice!" Kanade replies as she closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, and begins to sing.

"Croitzal ronzell Gungnir zizzl"

Next time on Sympho-Ball

Hey! It's me, Goku!

It seems like Master Roshi's training has really paid off for Kanade this past year! Although, I don't remember the Gungnir armor looking like that...

I'm sure it's nothing, but now's not really the time to talk about changes. We need to deal with the Noise!

Wait... Is that... Another Gungnir?!

Next time on "Sympho-Ball":

Two Gungnirs?! Enter Hibiki Tachibana!

Don't miss it!

A/N: And with that, we end the chapter!

First off, I'd like to give a bit more details as to just what the Phonic Ki Drive is. Just to clear up any confusion, this has nothing to do with Kaio-ken and, at least in the sense of how it was used by Goku and Krillin, it is not a power boost (well, obviously excluding the Superb Phonic Ki Boost, but that's something I'll go over in a later chapter.)

So, what is the Phonic Ki Drive (or PKD for short)? Long story short: It's a device that allows non-Symphogear users that know how to use Ki to fight Noise effectively. The reason for this is simple. While fleshing out how this crossover would continue, a friend of mine brought up the point that Ki wouldn't work the same way that Phonic Gain can in the sense of making the Noise easier to kill. And so, the PKD was born!

While I would be more than happy to go into detail into the PKD now, I would rather avoid having these notes repeated in a later chapter that way the story doesn't just end up being "Oh yeah we explained that to you offscreen" (Yes the irony of doing just that for Krillin is not lost on me).

Speaking of Krillin, this isn't the last we'll see of him in the Symphogear arcs, so don't worry Krillin fans, everyone's friend will return sooner than you think.

Lastly, while it was mostly Kamehameha variants and combinations for this chapter, I do plan to give the wielders their own unique ki-based attacks throughout the series, so don't worry about me devolving the Dragon Ball side of this crossover fic to just "Symphogear, but they all know how to use the Kamehameha (Ft. Goku)"

(Side note: the usage of "Combined Kamehameha'' for Goku and Krillin's double kamehameha is due to there being no properly named instance of the duo using Kamehamehas together (Kamehame fever doesn't count due to specifically being done with the duo and Yamcha). Once a properly named instance of the two using the technique together is done, I plan to come back and edit this accordingly.)

But with all of that out of the way, thank you so much for reading this chapter. I shall see you all in the next one!
