Topics for our best friends only

RockinJ'RodeoRebel asked for a oneshot of Emma going to Snow for something but needs her best friend Mary Margaret and not her mother. I'm going to put a T+ warning out for this one as it contains heavy talks of a sexual nature that will get a little graphic for some…

Snow watched out of the corner of her eye as Emma fidgeted on the chair watching her.

"Is there something I can help you with?" Snow asked, turning the page of her book.

"Huh?" Emma asked, pretending to be oblivious to what Snow meant.

"You've been watching me read for the last ten minutes. Not to mention that you seem to have ants in your pants." Emma blushed. She's been caught. Snow put her book down and gave Emma her full attention. "Go on then, spit it out." Emma looked down.

"Sometimes I miss Mary Margaret." She said quietly. "I'm so glad I have you now, that I have my mom. But when I got my mom I lost my best friend in her. There are things that you just need a best friend for…" Snow got what Emma was saying.

"So you have something to tell me, but you want me to be Mary Margaret?" She checked. Emma nodded. "Ok then, for this whole conversation I will not be your mother, I will be Mary Margaret."

"You have to promise." Emma said firmly. "I can't do this if you go all mom on me." Snow nodded.

"I promise. No mom, just Mary Margaret." Emma took a deep breath, readying herself.

"Ok." She said. "I need some advice on how to approach a situation with Hook…" Snow now felt she knew exactly why Emma wanted her best friend and not her mother. "You see, for ages he's been wanting to try…to try…um, going in the backdoors." Both Emma and Snow's faces were heating up. Snow was doing her best to stick to being Mary Margaret. "But until now I've been saying no. My only experiences of that have been pretty painful. He's promised he knows what he's doing but I just don't think I'd enjoy it. His birthday is coming up in a month. And I made the mistake of saying I'd do anything he wants. Of course he said that's what he wants. I don't want to say no to him again. What do I do?" Snow was fighting back her mother instincts to march straight to Hook and tell him that if her baby didn't want to do something then she damn well wasn't doing it and she would shove a cucumber up his backside and see how he liked it. But no, she was Emma's best friend here and not her mother.

"Ok, I can see why that would be awkward for you."

Not half as awkward as this conversation. Emma thought to herself. She was doing her best to keep pretending this was just her best friend, but she still knew it was her mom. But there was nobody else she could ask advice from about it.

"Obviously if you really don't want to do it, suggest something else you think he'd like." And never tell me the details. Snow thought. She wasn't sure she needed that much info about her daughter's sex life. "But you've got a little time before hand. Maybe try working up to it?" Snow suggested. Emma nodded, the pair unable to look at each other.

"Yeah…that sounds like a good idea. Thank you, Mary Margaret."

"You're welcome." Snow replied. An awkward silence fell over the room. When did they switch back again?

"I'm going to get myself some tea." Snow said, getting up. "I'll be gone about five minutes." She told Emma, letting her know that gave them both time to recompose themselves and switch back into their mother/daughter roles. Emma nodded, switching on the TV purely for something to look at and fill the silence. Snow headed through to the kitchen and again resisted the urge to text Hook with a clear message telling him if Emma says no she means it. Charming was sitting in the kitchen looking puzzled at his phone.

"Hey." He greeted Snow. "I'm just off the phone with Hook asking him what we could get him for his birthday. I asked what Emma was getting him and if we could get him something to go with it and he's said he'd really rather we didn't and then he started laughing and refused to tell me why. What's so funny? Do you know what Emma's getting him?" Snow had to bite her lip to stop herself from laughing.

"Yes, but believe me, you don't want to know. Emma only told me as Mary Margaret, her best friend. She refused to tell me as her mother." Charming caught onto the topic of what Emma was getting Hook and he scowled.

"You're right. I don't want to know. But when I next see Hook should I at least look a little scary?" He asked. Snow nodded.

"Yes. A little bit." She told him. Emma said nothing about her dad not being able to get involved- even if he didn't know exactly what in…
