Without him

emmafan asked for a oneshot in 4x11 where Rumple does kill Hook. When Snow and Emma are released Emma breaks down and Snow comforts her.

She was frozen on the spot. That power hungry, cowardly, son of a bitch had his hands round her boyfriend's heart and she couldn't do a damn thing about it. Emma wanted to scream out, to demand that Rumple leave Hook alone, but she couldn't. Snow wanted to do something too, but like Emma she was frozen hopelessly on the spot.

"Say goodbye, dearie." Rumple said, voice devoid of any emotion. "It's the last time you'll see her." Rumple gave Hook's heart a painful squeeze. Hook fell to his knees, gasping. Emma wanted to jump out and save him, and it was killing her inside. Hook looked over to Emma. The fear frozen on her face.

"He may have my heart in his hand, but know it was yours." Hook said, knowing the crocodile wouldn't give him much time. "Emma Swan, I love you. I thought I would never love again…and you taught me that I could. Whatever you do, don't go looking for revenge on him. He'll hurt you and I won't have you hurt in my name…"

"Wise choice of words." Rumple cut in. "But it's getting a little sickening so- time's up." Rumple didn't even blink as he crushed Hook's hand into sand. Emma's whole body was screaming on the inside as she watched Hook die, slowly and painfully. Snow knew how this would be hurting her daughter. Hook said nothing about her taking revenge on Rumplestiltskin. He'd meddled in her daughter's life for the last time. He would pay for this. When he finished, Rumple simply rubbed his hands together like he was clearing crumbs off them. He turned and smiled at the frozen mother and daughter duo. "You have no idea how long I've been waiting to do that." He told them. He looked up to see the stars aligned. "And would you look at that. Perfect timing. Have a nice life, dearies. I'm free now. Don't worry, I'll clean my mess up. It'll give me great pleasure disposing of this." Rumple said, kicking Hook's body. Emma just wanted to run to him, and it was tearing her up inside. With one wave of his wrist, Rumple was gone with Hook's body and Snow and Emma were unfrozen. Emma immediately fell to the floor with a loud sob. Snow felt her heart break for her daughter. She knew there was nothing she could really do to fix this. She dropped down beside Emma, pulling her head to her chest.

"He's gone!" Emma wailed. "I didn't even get to say goodbye!" Her sadness was suddenly replaced by an intense rage. She pushed away from her mother, getting up.

"Rumplestiltskin." She hissed. "If he thinks he's just leaving Storybrooke after that he's got another thing coming…"

"Emma stop!" Snow said, grabbing her hand. "Remember what Hook said, revenge won't make him come back. Rumplestiltskin is too powerful even for you. I won't let you get hurt."

"So I'm meant to just let him get away with that? He killed the man I love!" There was tears streaming down Emma's face as she yelled at Snow. Snow knew she wasn't really angry at her. She moved forward and wrapped Emma in a fierce hug.

"Listen to me." She whispered. "He's not going to get away with it. But you're in no fit state to go after him. Remember he'll use being Henry's grandfather against you. We need to go about this carefully. But right now what you need to do is come home. Snow pulled back and took Emma's hand, leading her out into a new world for Emma. A world without Hook.
