Lazarus

Rosalie asked for a oneshot of Emma's shadow being taken instead of Blue's. Everyone- especially her parents- are mourning her loss until Pan's shadow is defeated.

Cruel. That was the only way to describe how she had been taken from them. There was no way they could have helped her. Pan's shadow had just came in and ripped Emma's shadow from her body. They didn't even have a chance to say goodbye. Now Snow and Charming knelt by her body, with Henry not too far away. He couldn't stand to look at her, dead. Snow sat with watery eyes smoothing out her hair. Charming held her now cold hand, afraid to let it go. They had failed her. Hook and Neal weren't even in the room now. Neither of them could cope with the loss of Emma.

"My sweet girl." Snow whispered, trying to keep her voice from breaking. "You're at peace now. No more pain, baby. But I wish you were still here. Here to be with us." Snow couldn't go on any longer. She placed her head against Charming's shoulder and wept. Charming knew it was his turn now, he had to say goodbye.

"Oh Emma…I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I didn't protect you. I will carry that guilt until the day I day. If I could have taken your place I would have." Charming moved Emma's hand to kiss it as tears poured down her face. He turned round to his grandson.

"Henry, you need to say goodbye." He said gently. Henry shook his head. "I know it's hard buddy, but this is the only chance you'll get…"

"No!" Henry bawled, standing up. "I won't say goodbye, saying goodbye means admitting she's gone!"

"But Henry, she is gone." Snow told him. "Your mom's dead. We can't bring her back…" As soon as Snow said that, they heard a gasping sound from Emma. Everyone whipped round and saw her eyes wide open, taking a massive breath. Henry ran over, completely shocked, Snow placed a hand on Emma's back, supporting her as she sat up.

"Emma?" Charming said, frightened it was too good to be true.

"What happened?" She asked groggily. "Why am I lying on the floor?" She looked over to her family. "Why has everyone been crying?" Nobody really knew how to respond, did they tell her the truth? But from the expressions on her face and the faint memories she had, Emma pieced it together. "I died, didn't I?" She asked. Charming nodded.

"Pan took your shadow. It must have been defeated. But that doesn't matter right now." He reached forward and pulled Emma into a fierce hug. "What matters is you're back, and we're not letting you go again." He said firmly.

"Ok…" Emma said awkwardly, still not entirely confident with sudden shows of emotion. Snow placed her hand on Emma's cheek.

"He's right. Ever." Snow confirmed. They had been so distraught. They had thought their daughter was dead. It was a miracle- she was back from the dead. "Come on. Let's go home." Snow said, as Charming helped Emma up and Snow wrapped an arm around Henry. A family, together.
