Robbed
Just one of my own I thought of whilst watching the season 3 finale.
Only when Emma had returned from the past and they found out she was Princess Leia did Charming realise what he'd said. Two women who had robbed him. Charming smiled as he watched his wife and daughter interact across the room at Granny's. Two women who had robbed him indeed, and of far more than his mother's ring (which of course was now nicely situated on Snow's finger and Charming suspected may end up in Emma's possession too one day). These were the two women who had robbed him off his heart- in one way quite literally and in another metaphorically. True, Charming sacrificed his heart so Snow could return to the land without magic and find Emma, but that wasn't really what he meant. He meant that they had robbed him of his love. If you could call it robbing, he gave it more than willingly. He'd do anything to protect them, Henry and Neal. They were the loves of his life.
They had robbed him of the sadness in his life, something he again gave quite happily. For years he felt unworthy, what with his father's drinking problems. Then Snow came along, and made him into the man and Prince he was today. And then he faced his wildest fears and became a father. Yes, he hadn't raised Emma, but he knew he was still very much her father, and that meant so much to him. Charming then remembered another conversation he'd had during that time in the past. One with whom he thought to be Prince Charles. Charles had asked him to remember saying "Leia's" parents should approve of him after all he'd done to rescue her. He knew the pirate should have his approval. But he couldn't help still feeling slightly miffed with their whole relationship. At the end of the day, Emma had stolen his heart long before she had stolen his.
Happy Christmas Eve! I hope Santa is good to you all ;)
