A fair trade of skills

FictionLover12 asked for a oneshot of Charming teaching Emma sword fighting and Emma teaching him how to break in somewhere (bail bonds skills) in return.

"I still think guns are much easier." Emma grunted, as once again she lunged forward with her wooden sword, only for her dad to dodge easily out of the way.

"Yes, but one sword will last you years if you take care of it properly, nothing else required. Think how many bullets you go through for a gun. Besides, face it, a person who knows how to properly wield a sword looks so much more badass than a person with a gun." He joked with a grin. Emma rolled her eyes, again trying to get her dad unsuccessfully. "Your issue is that you're going for the obvious blow." Charming explained to her. "You need to try and catch your opponent off guard. True, that's going to be pretty hard with an expert like me but…hey!" Charming shouted as Emma took her opportunity while he was blabbering on and aimed the sword at his throat.

"You were saying?" She said with a mischievous grin. Charming smiled proudly at her.

"That's my girl!" Charming praised her. "We'll have made a proper warrior out of you in no time. Today was the easy stuff though, from tomorrow I'll start getting tough on you. Well as tough as I can when you give me that smile." He said, gently tapping her nose. Emma resisted the urge to roll her eyes again.

"Ok dad, if you say so. Anyway, I believe I promised I'd teach you something useful in return for the sword lessons. So, I've decided to teach you something that may come in handy one day during a case at the station." Emma said, walking with her father over to the shed. "Lock picking." Charming's eyes grew wide.

"What?" He asked. "Emma, that's illegal!"

"Yeah well so is jumping bail. Not that that's where I learned it…Neal taught me." Emma said with an air of sadness. Charming reached out and squeezed Emma's shoulder, knowing it was still a hard subject for her. Emma shook herself, not wanting to dwell on it. "Anyway, it could come in handy." Emma pulled out a couple of paperclips she'd put in her pocket earlier and uncurled them. "So, it's all about the tumblers. You just need to feel around with a couple of these, and one bent a little like this. It's called a tension wrench." Emma explained, showing him. She jiggled the safety pin about the lock until she got it, explaining to her dad everything that she done. "And that's how it's done." She told him. She then pulled out the actual key and locked the door, tossing her dad a couple of paperclips of his own. "Now you try." Charming tried to hide his grimace, he didn't want to look stupid in front of Emma, but knew he had to give this a go…even if it was illegal.

After nearly two hours, Charming had eventually managed to open the lock. He whooped loudly, feeling quite thrilled.

"Who's the daddy?" He asked, with a cheesy grin on her face. Emma couldn't help but laugh.

"Well done big guy. Just need to work on getting that time down about one hundred and nineteen minutes and thirty seconds and you're good to go. We'll make a proper break in artist out of you yet." Emma teased. Charming got up, putting an arm around Emma.

"That sounds wonderful, my little criminal."
