No new Emma
Happy Hogmanay! (New Year's Eve to those outside of Scotland). A special Hogmanay oneshot for today :)
A lot of people start the first of January with the attitude of a new year, a new me. That's not the way Emma Swan wanted to start twenty-fifteen. For once, Emma was ending the year in a way she hoped that next year would be exactly the same. She wasn't running anymore. She was home, where she belonged. She had a son who adored her, a little brother who she doted on, and parents who loved her more than life itself. Never in her wildest dreams did Emma ever imagine she'd get all of this. Now here she was, sitting in the living room with her parents and son (her little brother long since asleep) ready to start the countdown for the New Year. For once, Emma wasn't filled with dread or at best, disinterest. She had things to look forward to. New memories to make. A chance to have everything she had missed out on. Emma remembered where she had been on her birthday three years previously. The little cupcake with the candle stuffed in the middle. All she had wanted then was to not be alone. Now here she was, her wish came true. Going into this year, Emma had nothing to wish for. She had everything already. So yeah, the thought of "new year, new me" didn't cross Emma's mind at all. She was exactly the person she wanted to be.
