An accidental offer

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma teasing her parents about being old.

Emma bit her lip to stop herself from laughing at the sight. Her parents, both clad in pyjamas and slippers at six in the evening. Her mother quietly turning the pages of her book and her father actually doing a crossword puzzle.

"So you guys must have some exciting plans for this evening huh?" Emma teased. Her parents looked up at her weary eyed. Neal was teething and giving them a rough time at nights. Emma could see from the slightly far off look on their faces that they weren't getting what she was saying. Emma gestured to them.

"Has Henry been calling you gran and grandpa more than usual lately? I'm worried that some subliminal messaging may have seeped through. You're both acting a little on the old side." Emma gently teased. Snow's eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

"Emma, you're the same age as us. If we're old so are you." She pointed out.

"Ah, but one of us in this room isn't a grandparent, are they grandma?" Emma again teased. Snow rolled her eyes. Charming had an idea. He quickly got up and gently took Snow by the hand, pulling her with him.

"What's going on?" Snow asked, a little alarmed.

"Well dear, I think our charming daughter has pointed out that looking after her baby brother has made us a little worse for wear just now. So I'm taking her teasing as a very kind request for us to go and stay at Granny's for a couple of nights while she looks after him." Emma's eyes widened.

"No no no no no…"

"Yes, and we very much appreciate it Emma." Charming said, moving with Snow into their bedroom so they could get changed. "We'll head off just now and be back at the same time in a couple of days. Thanks again sweetie!"

By no later than half six the next night, Emma was in her pyjamas curled up on the couch- lesson very much learnt.
