Waiting for their boy
Slilesfan1994 asked for a oneshot of Regina and Emma bonding over Henry going on his first date.
Sorry for the delay today folks. My granparents' dog died. And we've been dealing with the shock of that.
Regina was pacing the floor, checking her watch every few seconds.
"Would you relax?" Emma sighed, lounging on the armchair. "He'll be home soon. We can quiz him then." Regina shook her head in annoyance at Emma's overly calm attitude towards this. Henry was going on his first date at the young age of fifteen. Regina had insisted on waiting at Emma's flat until she knew he was home.
"And what if he's not Miss Swan?" Regina snapped. "What if just decided to stay with her the whole night? What if he just decided to go the whole hog? What then?" Emma burst into laughter.
"Seriously? Henry go all the way on a first date? Regina, use your head."
"I'm more worried he'll use your head. He is your son after all, he's unfortunately going to have some of your genes floating around in him." Emma stopped laughing.
"I am not that easy thank you." She grumbled. Regina rolled her eyes.
"If you say so. But that is not all that could go wrong. Anything could happen. There are a lot of freaks in this town." Emma raised an eyebrow.
"Says the woman who tried to kill her stepdaughter because she was jealous she was prettier and then tried to kill me with an apple turnover?"
"It was not because she was prettier, it was because she couldn't keep her mouth shut. And I think the world would be a better place without your smart mouth." Regina barked.
"So you admit that my mom's prettier than you?" Emma retorted. Regina's eyes narrowed dangerously.
"That is not what I said. But if you can keep your attention going for more than two seconds let's keep our minds on Henry, shall we?"
"Whatever you say grandma." Emma said, holding her hands up defensively. Despite herself, Regina smiled slightly.
"In my day we listened to our grandmas." She said. She smirked at the way that made Emma fall silent. For once in her life.
They pair sat in silence for a good few minutes more. Regina still checking her watch, growing more and more anxious.
"He'll be fine, I promise." Emma said softly. "He's a smart kid. He won't get himself into any trouble…you did a good job raising him. Trust him to know the lessons you taught him." Regina did her best not to outwardly show how Emma's words touched her. She kept her face totally straight, no hint of a smile. Just then, she heard a car door closing. She whipped round to look out the window. Regina sighed in relief when she saw Henry waving his date off.
"So he's not been mauled by the notorious bears of Storybrooke then? Or turned into a forever teen vampire? Oh good Lord. The Cullens aren't real are they?! I'm not sure I could cope with that…"
"Of course they're not real, they're not fairy tales." Regina grumbled. Emma sighed in relief, coming over to see Henry for herself.
"Told ya." She said rather smugly. Regina resisted the urge to throw a fire ball in her face. But the urge to place a permanent gag around her mouth was a lot harder to ignore!
