Reasons you're special
nahbois68 asked for a oneshot of Regina telling Snow about the conversation she had with Henry about him wishing for magic so he could be special. Snow tells him all the reasons she thinks he's special.
As Regina came down from the little loft room she still felt uneasy about Henry. She wasn't sure he fully believed her that he didn't need magic to be special or useful. Snow could see the look on Regina's face- and she didn't like it.
"What's wrong? Is the cut worse?" She asked. Regina shook her head.
"No, I healed that for him, but it appears to have backfired on me. After I did it he made a comment about how it must be nice to have magic and be useful. He thinks he's just ordinary." Snow frowned. She and Regina both knew that Henry was the farthest thing from ordinary. "I'm not sure me having magic helps me tell him that he doesn't need magic to be special." Regina sighed. Snow moved towards the stairs.
"Then I'll talk to him." She said. "I haven't got any magic, maybe that'll help your message sink in." Snow already felt responsible for Henry getting hurt. If she hadn't yelled at Emma she wouldn't have ran away. Then Henry wouldn't have gone looking for her and got hurt…and her daughter wouldn't be frightened of herself or her family's reaction to her. The least she could do was make Henry see how wonderful he really was. She made her way upstairs and knocked on the open door. Henry looked up, still looking rather gloomy. Snow gave him an encouraging smile.
"Your mom said she fixed your cut." She said, walking in. Henry nodded. "She also said that you're feeling a bit down because you don't have magic. That you think because of that you're not special." Snow said gently, as she sat at the end of his bed. Henry just shrugged. "Oh Henry, you're one of the most special people I know." Snow said, her heart breaking for her grandson.
"You're my grandma. You're supposed to say that." He mumbled, not looking at her. Snow felt a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. She still wasn't quite sure how she felt about being a grandma in her thirties.
"Even so- it's still true. Do you remember when I gave you that storybook?" Henry nodded. "Do you just anyone could have worked out that it was all true? That just anyone would have fought through everyone telling them they were imagining things and risk their life to prove their point? No, Henry, that takes an incredibly person to do something like that. You are the reason this curse was broken. You are so powerful that Peter Pan needed you to bring the magic back to Neverland. Never stop believing that you are special, Henry Mills." Snow reached over and placed a small kiss on Henry's forehead. "You brought my family back together. You gave me the gift of being a grandma to an incredible little boy. Even I am far too young to be a grandmother." Snow delighted in the small laugh that Henry let out at that. "I'll give you some space. We'll call you for dinner."
"Ok grams…thanks." He said sheepishly.
"Anytime, honey." Snow said before she left and headed back downstairs. Regina was up from the couch as soon as she saw Snow, wanting to know how Henry was. "He's alright." Snow assured him. Regina relaxed.
"Thank you, Snow." She said appreciatively. Snow nodded in response. She wouldn't leave her grandson believing he was anything less than the incredible, sweet, amazing young man he was.
