Nurse Charming

Jules asked for a oneshot of Emma and Snow having the flu and Charming taking care of them both. My essay deadline day was today and I don't start back at uni until February so until then I'm free! So, keep those requests coming! :)

"How are my girls feeling now?" Charming asked, walking into the room with their tray. They gave near identical grumbles in reply which made Charming smile. First Emma had came down with the flu. Then Snow came down with it from taking care of her. Charming forced her to rest but she insisted on being in the same bed as Emma so she could still keep an eye on her. Not that Charming was complaining. It made his job in looking after them much easier. Henry had already been sent to Regina's to avoid the nasty bug and Neal was being looked after by Red and Granny so Charming could focus on his girls. He checked their sick buckets as he came in and was very pleased to see that neither had been sick in the last hour.

"Apple juice for Emma to take her pills with." He said, setting both the glass and the pills on her bedside table. "And orange for Snow to take hers with." He added, knowing there was no way Snow would have anything with apples ever again. He placed Snow's juice and medicine on the table on her side of the bed. "But first," He took the last thing off the tray- two thermometers which earned him groans. "Sorry, quite literally Doc's orders. Ok, here we go." They happened to have two thermometers anyway. So for now one was labelled S and one E. They both begrudgingly took their thermometers. When they beeped, Charming took them out and checked Snow's first.

"Snow, you're down from one-oh-two to one-oh-one." He said, sounding pleased. He gave a small frown when he saw Emma's. "Sorry honey, you're still one-oh-two." Emma sighed. Great. She thought. More fussing. "So you're going to take your pills and you're going to go back to sleep."

"But all I've done is sleep." Emma complained, but even as she said it she knew all she wanted to do was curl up and snooze some more.

"Yes, because your body needs to rest to recover. Come on." Charming gave Emma "that look" which she knew meant there was no point in arguing. Sulkily, she swallowed down her pills. He smiled at her before fixing her pillows so she could lie down again. Feeling too weak to put up any kind of a fight, Emma sunk down into the pillows and within minutes was asleep.

"Don't think I've forgotten that you've got pills to take too, Snow." Charming said quietly.

"I just want to make sure she's ok." Snow said, reaching over and tucking some of Emma's hair behind her ear. Charming gently but firmly took her hand away.

"Snow, I'm looking after both of you. You need to rest to get better as well. I am perfectly capable of making sure our daughter is ok." He said, a small smile on her face. "Now, Henry's find with Regina. Neal's settled with his aunt Red and Granny and Emma is asleep. There is nobody for you to worry about but yourself. So take your pills and settle down or I am putting you back in our bed." He said, a small teasing smile on his lips. Snow rolled her eyes, seeing that she was beat. She took her pills and swallowed them with a gulp of orange juice, settling back with her arms folded across her chest. Charming chuckled.

"Like mother, like daughter." He said, kissing Snow's forehead. He left the room and came back with a cold cloth which he pressed against Emma's forehead gently, trying to bring her temperature down. She winced in her sleep, causing Charming to mutter soft words of comfort. Snow couldn't help but fall in love with him more at the sight. Her husband, with their baby girl. Treating her so gently like she was fragile glass. But how else could Charming treat her? This was his little princess, no matter what age she was. And she was sick and needed him. Snow did too, of course, but she didn't go for the gentle approach. Not that Emma really liked it much either, but she accepted that Charming wasn't giving her any choice. They would get well soon, he knew that. But until they did he would be the best nurse he could be for them. Even if it meant scrubbing sick buckets.
