Diving into the flames
Charmings4ever asked for a oneshot of Emma and Charming arriving home to find a fire at the apartment. Emma rushes in thinking Snow and Neal are inside and gets smoke inhalation.
It was the pillar of smoke that let them know something was wrong. They could both see it from the station- and a sickening feeling in the pits of their stomachs made them know it was their home. The sprinted out of the door as soon as they saw it, both not needing to tell the other what they thought. They had to get back there. Snow and Neal could still be inside. Charming drove faster than he'd ever driven in his life. They were the sheriffs, nobody could pull them over for speeding. Even if they did, Charming and Emma just wouldn't have listened.
They arrived at the loft within minutes. A full scale fire was ablaze. Charming was about to tell Emma to stay put and call Snow, but before he could she bolted out of the car.
"Emma!" He bellowed after her, but it was too late. His bellowing had distracted the two firemen who were placed outside to stop people getting close, allowing Emma to zip by them and into the burning building. Charming tried to follow after her, but the firemen caught him. He struggled against them.
"My daughter just ran in there! My wife and son might be in there!-"
"Charming?" A voice called from behind him. Charming turned and saw Snow standing with Neal. On one hand he was overjoyed that they were safe. But on the other…Emma was searching for them in a burning building. He again tried to get past, but again he was blocked.
"Sir, calm down. We will let our colleagues in the building know that your daughter is in there."
"MY DAUGHTER IS WHAT?!" Snow screamed.
"She ran in there thinking you and Neal were inside. I was going to. I was about to tell her to stay in the car and try and call you when she bolted, Snow. Please, let me in there after her!"
"Sir, I'm sorry but I can't do that. We will get your daughter back out here safely." If it wasn't for Neal in her arms Snow would have used the firemen blocking Charming as a distraction to go in herself.
"Emma." She said weakly. Both of them were absolutely terrified.
Seconds seemed like years to Snow and Charming as they waited. But eventually, they saw her. Propped up by two other firemen. There was nobody who could have held them back now as they ran forward to her. Charming took her off the two firemen.
"Thank you. Thank you so much." He said, tears in his eyes. "Emma, what were you thinking?"
"That- that I had to- to get mom and-and Neal." Emma said, voice croaky and broken up with coughs. "Couldn't fi-find them."
"That's because we were right here." Snow said, Emma looked up at her mother and brother, relief flooding her. They were safe.
"We're going to have to call her an ambulance." One of the firemen said. "She'll have smoke inhalation." He explained. Snow and Charming nodded. Charming gently lowered Emma to the ground and sat with her.
"Under no circumstances," He said sternly. "Are you ever to go into a burning building again. I don't care who might be inside. You do not risk your own life."
"You were about to." Emma mumbled before coughing again. Snow quickly sat down on her other side with Neal and patted her back.
"That may be, but I am the parent and you are the child. I don't care how old you are. And I tell you another thing Emma Swan. You are going to go to that hospital without a fuss- even if they stick an oxygen mask on you. When you get there you will cooperate with the doctors and nurses. None of this "I'm fine" nonsense. Then when you are released from hospital you will come home and you will not be working until your mother and I have deemed you both fully recovered and safe from ever diving into another burning building. Is that clear?" Emma looked to her mother, her mouth hanging open.
"Oh don't look at me." She said. "I agree with everything he's said. Tough luck." Emma just sat there, flabbergasted. They were such…such…parents!
