Downright irresponsible
I forgot about the story again, sorry, this chapter is about when at the beginning of book 2:Chamber of Secrets, the magical barrier leading to platform 9 ¾ closes, and Ron and Harry decide to be downright irresponsible and steal a magic flying car and drive to Hogwarts somehow. There are so many more responsible things they could've done here is a short list and then I'll begin the chapter:
1. Send an owl to Dumbledore/McGonagall telling them what happened
2. Go home to the Burrow and tell Molly Weasley/Arthur Weasley
3. Wait patiently for one of the other wizarding parents to come out and tell them what happened etc etc etc…
Thanks for viewing the story, let's begin -oliviathestoryteller
"Ok, let's go into Platform 9 ¾ , only 4 minutes till the train leaves" Harry said looking at Ron
He and Ron started a jog towards the brick barrier that led to the Hogwarts express, they sped up to a run and Harry braced himself for the familiar feeling of drifting through the wall.
BOOM! They crashed straight into the wall, Hedwig chirping in outrage at being flung against the wall.
"That doesn't make any sense, it isn't 11O'clock yet so why did the platform close?" Harry asked in utter confusion.
"I don't know, this has never happened to any of my brothers before?" Ron said while frowning in thought.
Harry felt his stomach churned as he thought about Snape relishing at the chance to give him a punishment for being late for Hogwarts. They needed to find a way to get to Hogwarts. Now!
"We need to get to Hogwarts" Harry said getting a bit panicky now.
"I know! We can drive my dad's flying car!" Ron said in delight "I've always wanted to drive it!"
"What, no, we can't drive a flying car, that would put us in even more trouble then we already are" Harry said looking at Ron with incredulity.
The pair looked at eachother in thought for a moment and then sat down on a bench nearby. Harry really didn't want to miss the spectacular feast Hogwarts supplied at the beginning of every year.
"What do you suggest we do then if your so smart" Ron jeered, still grumpy at Harry rejecting his idea.
"We can send Hedwig to deliver a letter to Professor McGonagall and explain everything, I'm sure she will send someone or other to collect us" Harry said.
He took out a parchment and quill from his large school trunk and began to write,
Dear Professor McGonagall,
We are currently still at King's Cross because unexpectantly the platform to 9 ¾ closed. Me and Ron have no clue what to do. Could you send someone to collect us from King's Cross? Thank you for your help.
From Harry Potter
He reread the letter and then carefully folded it to fit inside an envelope, he retrieved one from his trunk and carefully sealed of the letter. He took Hedwig out of her cage and secured the letter to her talons.
"Please be quick, Hedwig, I want someone to come for us before the train to Hogwarts arrives at Hogwarts. After you delivered it there is no point coming back, ok?" Hedwig gave him a reassuring peck at his cheek and then spread he snowy white wings and with a disgruntled chirp, set off into the blue sky.
"So do we just wait now for 3 hours at least?" Ron said in an irritated voice.
"Yes, I'll buy us some lunch while we wait"
Harry bought them some sausage rolls and sandwiches and they ate them in silence,
"Please can we just give the flying car a tiny weeny little test drive?" Ron asked with hope in his voice.
Harry almost wanted to laugh, because he imagined what Hermione would say if she heard what Ron was suggesting. The little Hermione-ish voice in his head kept repeating the words "Downright Irresponsible"
"Sorry Ron, that would be downright irresponsible"
Ron sighed but didn't argue,
Three hours Later,
Professor Flitwick apparated onto the ground right in front of them,
"Minerva thanks you for being responsible enough to send her a letter" he said in a squeaky voice.
"Potter, hold my right hand and Weasley, hold my left hand" he instructed
Harry had to bend down slightly to reach the professor's small hand. With a whirl, Harry's vision grew fuzzy and his tummy became nauseous as he stepped into darkness. A moment later they arrived out the gates of Hogwarts. Harry smiled and followed Flitwick into Hogwarts.
