Surprise! I'm a mom.
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma growing up in Storybrooke with Snow and Charming. She left for "college" at 18 but feels pressured into coming back for a visit. But they don't know about her son!
Emma could hear the contented gurgles of her six month old in the backseat. He was the most adorable baby Emma had ever laid eyes upon- she just hoped her parents agreed. When she'd left for Phoenix just over a year ago she told them it was for college. She knew they'd be far too disappointed if they found out the truth. She was pregnant. She had a friend in Phoenix who said Emma could stay with her. Emma had left and managed to keep up the lie ever since. But her parents had begged her to come home and visit- and she couldn't lie about Henry any longer. She came clean to them on the phone before leaving. Broke down and told them she'd never been to college- she had been raising her son. Of course her parents were shocked and hurt that Emma had lied. And devastated that they'd missed the first six months of their grandson's life. Charming obviously wanted to know who the father was so he could kick their teeth in, but Emma refused to give his name. He knew about Henry and didn't want anything to do with him and that was fine with Emma.
Her parents were waiting outside as Emma pulled into the driveway.
"Here we go kid." She said quietly. "Remember, extra cute." Emma got out the car and the tension was there straight away.
"Hi." She said awkwardly.
"Hi." Her mother replied. Emma went into the back of the car and took out Henry.
"Henry, meet your grandma and grandpa." She said, holding him close to her. He smiled happily at them, and they couldn't be really angry at their daughter for bringing this gorgeous little boy into the world.
"Come inside." Charming said. "We'll talk there." He approached Emma with his arms outstretched. "Can I hold him?" Emma nodded, handing Henry over. Charming proudly held his little grandson. It stung that their daughter had felt too scared to tell them she was a mother- especially since she was clearly doing a good job. They would talk about that, and about the idea of her moving home. But not today. Today he and Snow would get to know their grandson- and spoil him with the mountain of gifts they had bought.
